    I have lived with this light for about 2 weeks as an EDC. I absolutely love it. I can safely say that it is a light that fits a huge variety of situations. From checking pupil response at 1 lumen, to a very bright search mode. All in a very compact package. If you purchase one, you won't be disappointed. Great light.

    Haha! Holy jeez I'm going to have to get this one. I have the V2 and it's one of my favorites because of the perfect combination beam. It has a fairly tight hotspot for throw, but it also has lots of spill. You can use it for search and rescue operations AND totally use it for indoors and up close. This and the one lumen mode make it incredibly versitile. I also love the tail switch because you don't have to fumble around to find it in the dark. I put a rubberized tactical ring on mine and game over... it's the best flashlight ever. If I sound like a Nitecore salesman, here's a nitpick: it's a little too long. OH WAIT, theres a new, shorter version that's brigher and throws farther? If it has the same beam profile as the V2 then take my money!

    I do prefer the guarded tail-cap of the MH12GTS over the new MH12S. The guard also allows you to place the flashlight in an upright position like a candle. Handy to illuminate a room during a power outage.

      @NitecoreStore  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So...I have noticed this trend as well where on most of Nitecore's "tactical" lights they leave the tail switch exposed. I was told this was a decision based on feedback NC got from their larger contracts such as police departments.
      In exchange for the railing on the tailcap to protect the tailswitch from accidental activation they made the spring inside the tailswitch stronger. I do not have equipment to test this but I will try to figure out a way to illustrate this in the future.

      No I'm walking with 1000 lumen plus and they see me but many drivers seem to like to see a pedestrian jump. I do get off the road if 2 cars with pass where I am and I use the strobe if they high beam me. In the winter with snow I often can't get off the road.

    • @NitecoreStore
      @NitecoreStore  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Saxtus! So the MH12S comes with the morse-codey power indicator. It is a bit advanced and most casual users do not really mind for it so I do not mention it in the video.
      But if you hold the side button and click the tail switch on - the power indicator will blink to display battery voltage.
      If it blinks 4 times - pause - 2 blinks = 4.2V
      If it blinks 3 times - pause - 6 blinks = 3.6V
      and so on and so forth.

    I don't think a light with 2 tailswitches is a great improvement because the light still has to be positioned for mode sw access when dark. I got this light and a Fenix tk16 also. With tailswitch the light has to be held so thumb can access the switches or use the other hand to access switches I.e. 2 hand operation. With the mode switch on the side I reflect the light off my hand to illuminate the location of the mode switch on the MH12S.

    Hi can you recommend one of your flashlights thats compact,1inch diameter,usb rechargeable, and also can go from spot to flood?

    • @NitecoreStore
      @NitecoreStore  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That is a tough one... It has been quite some time since Nitecore has released a flashlight that has the "zoomable" function (these have fallen out of style).
      I would say get this MH12S and a 25mm (roughly close to an inch) diffuser which helps break up the beam to a "floodier" light.

    Does tactical mode always turn on turbo from the tailcap button?

    • @NitecoreStore
      @NitecoreStore  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello John, this is straight from the MH12S user manual.
      "Yes except when it is in strobe."
      So if you turn it off while on Turbo - > back on Turbo
      Turn it off on high/mid/low/ultralow ->back on Turbo
      Turn it off on Strobe -> back on Strobe

    what's the advantage of this compared to the EK4, P20i or MH23?

    • @NitecoreStore
      @NitecoreStore  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The E4K is 4 LEDs in a flatter reflector so you get a much wider flood.
      The P20i has the same "guts" as the MH12S so you have the same brightness but the larger "bell-shaped" head of the P20i means bigger reflector = longer throw. Plus the P20i has a nice beefy stainless steel bezel + the impact inlays.
      MH23 is more of a high powered EDC light, no tailswitch, but smaller overall profile because it uses an 18650 battery.
