Very great to hear the train service is back. This is the best way to reduce the cost of transportation. When there is affordable Public transit system, majority of the citizens don't care about cost of fuel. I know with a huge patronage, and efficient maintenance system, this will be the best way for Ghana to move forward. Let the Media support and appreciate it because this is all we have. With support and digitization of process, this will improve. They should have an e-ticket system and tracking process to cut down fraud.

Still got ppl talking about government not being realistic with the affordable ticket prices.
These same people would have be hard talking harshly about the government not showing any signs of sympathy in these difficult times.
The price lists are likely to change and reviewed accordingly as one of the rail representatives talked about in the VIP seating area.
Let's just be appreciative for the initiatives for once.

The availability of these trains is gonna go a along way in reducing the economic hardship in the country. So please, you guys should look at it from that perspective and commend the government for making the train transport affordable for us! Thank You.

The company needs to have a pricing team. The fare is ridiculous, how can the company afford to pay its employees with this ridiculous fare? Also, the company should be able to service the train cars/engines from its operating budget whenever any of them breaks down.
I hope someone from the management will come across this opinion and learn some information from here. Generally, the company needs a pricing model based on something like this.
    1. Rush hour fares should be higher (must be about 10% -15% lower than regular road fares or non-public transport)
    2. Non-rush hour fares should be cheaper than rush hour fares (maybe 15% cheaper than rush hour. This is how train fares in New York and New Jersey are determined by both NY and NJ transit trains. RUSH HOUR is defined as period between 6:00AM - 10:00AM and 4:30PM - 7:00PM.
The current fares definitely needs to be reviewed and must be about 15% cheaper than the non public transport fare. The company needs be ran as a business with operating budget that will enable it to pay its employees, be able service trains whenever they breakdown. In my opinion, the company must purchase vending machines to sell the tickets through digitization technology. If the ticket sales are digitized, people can use their phones to purchase tickets. This is very necessary to ensure accountability by reducing cash transactions and eliminate possible pilfering by employees and government officials.

Perfect opportunity to upgrade tracks to beyond a 35 km/h MAS, educate citizens along the railway about safety along the rails (pending return to revenue service), address technical issues with locomotives and more.

trains are known to carry many passengers per wagon and many wagons joined together mean huge monies .twice a day full wagons can mean about 2 000 passegers and times 3ghc and 5ghc .students free .the final amounts are substantial and cargo rates must be reasonable.dont insist the rates should be higher just like that .assess your daily costs and overheads then work out a lowest fee.

I don't know why every Ghanian GOVT thinks cheaper prices and subsidizing everything is the way forward, its wrong, you have workers to pay, you have maintenance , and you have other developments ahead to do, pls cut off this subsidizing and cheap this , cheap that crap.
If they really want to use railways because of the convenience it offers let them pay .
The railway needs to make some profit to carry out further upgrades, government entities and business must be self sustaining so that all the tax payer money that has been invested in to building the new railway lines and to refurbish the coaches can be recouped and also allow us to get better coaches even build a bullet train someday, who invests into something that doesn't make profit, we should move away as a country from that colonial Era style of thinking. This is what previous GOVT did that brought the Ghana Railways To its Knees! , the Ghanaians only want cheap things because of our selfish nature we always complain that everything is expensive even when we can pay to allow that service benefit those who actually need it the most, we are a people who want to see a lot of development but don't want to partake or support that process, NPP shift from this mind set every GOVT business should start making profit , if GOVT businesses make profit then and only then can we improve on quality of service.

The train should be running every hour both ways at 30 mins Cross interval... Duri rush hour the full carriage should be running.. And other times they decouple and use maybe 2 carriages.. People will still travel at those times thereby increasing revenue.. More revenue more opportunities to employ to create jobs... Twice a day is very inefficient and waste of resources and reducing the opportunity to raise revenue.

They have done their research and they believe that is the appropriate fare for now. if they need to revise they will, you are not the one to tell them what to do.
