    Thanks for actually including hidden features instead of just using a clickbait title. I have a 2020 Laramie and i didn't know about any of these.

    I just bought my Ram. After years of driving VW/Audi for years, its my 1st truck. I knew that it had some cool features that helped with the ride and noise, but I had no idea about the undercarriage anti-vibration devices and the active air damn. Thank you.

      Looking at one right this minute but getting the runaround. One dealer ( owner) says I can get employee pricing at around 20% off msrp or around $500 over his cost. Another says no way can go that low . “He’s Lying to you”
      Father was former dealer.
      What happened to you?

    @4:45 that ANC is on all trim levels and is what it does is emit a faux engine noise into the cab of the truck. Which needs to be bypassed when upgrading the stock speakers and adding amplifiers. I have the bighorn trim night edition, no alpine no harmon, pulled the door speakers and the dash speakers. Doors now have 6.5" loud speakers, dash now have 3.5" bullet tweeters, 2 10" subwoofers under the rear seats, with a 1200 watt rms amp for the subs, and an audio control LC4.1200 for the doors and dash. ANC is bypassed as I do not want to hear the popping that it will make. Also I did not like the fact that it would emit a false engine noise over the speakers.

    Those canisters are also on my 2000 Grand Marquis. Except they use the exhaust vibrations to cancel out road noise.
    I even straight piped it and kept them in and they still quiet down the exhaust and road noise insanely well.

    I understood, I thought, that the little vibrator do giggies were to offset the harmonic vibration when it went into 4 cyl eco mode

    • @AxlesGarage
      @AxlesGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Laramie is one trim level above the Big Horn/Long Horn. It's the lower luxury level (Limited being above). The Sport Package added to the Laramie gives you the Rebel Hood, body color door handles, bumpers, and grill, with some black accents and 20" upgraded wheels, with white letter tires.

    I have a 2019 Ram 1500 Bighorn Classic. I am curious, not being a smartass, Why would anyone think that the actual grille would be the shutters? It just seemed dumb to me. They are made of some type of plastic, as all makes are and plastic is pliable so it will move somewhat. Again, not meaning to be a smart ass.

    • @AxlesGarage
      @AxlesGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Bill, I think that people heard of the 'Active Grille Shutters' and then noticed that the grille slats themselves were loosely mounted and just assumed that's what it was. Remember, the vast majority of people driving vehicles have little to no mechanical experience or knowledge.

  • @scottandrews4822

    The OUTSIDE grill slots are not loose or tight. It may have been that they were just loose for some reason on whatever truck you had, but it's not that way from the factory. Please, sir, try to do more research.

    • @AxlesGarage
      @AxlesGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Outer grill fins are loose from factory, that is by design. Go to a dealer lot and jiggle some grilles. They are all the same. My 2017 was that way and my 2020 is that way. Did anyone ever tell you that you're a bit negative? Thanks for watching and commenting, love 'ya

  • @scottandrews4822
    @scottandrews4822 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The active grill shutters are for AERODYNAMIC purposes,not cooling. They are closed during periods of low engine stress so that the air goes over the truck better and not through the radiator. When the ECU senses that more cooling is needed, such as with towing or a hot day, they will open. They open and close as needed, hence the "active" part. The temp of the engine is controlled by the thermostat and it runs at 210 Fahrenheit, not 203 as stated. Please research the Ram website before stating things about the truck.

    • @AxlesGarage
      @AxlesGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think that aerodynamics are at play here. My guess is you've never seen a truck come from the factory with a grille cover? ...... or quite possibly have never used some cardboard in front of the radiator (old-Skool)

    • @talonesit
      @talonesit 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed, this is for aerodynamics improvement. It creates a "bubble" and air flows up and over the grille to the hood. There's videos on TH-cam showing active grille shutters in use in wind tunnels.

    Just to properly inform everyone, the active grille shutters are NOT to increase engine temperature. These work directly with the lower deployable air dam below the bumper to make the air flow around the truck and not into the truck's grille area. This is for better fuel economy only. All other things he talked about are also NOT hidden features. These are widely publicized features, even from day one of this new truck hitting the road. Pretty lame video man.

    • @xLSU0408x
      @xLSU0408x 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think what he meant by "hidden" was that it's not something your dealer tells you about, nor something you see on your own if you're not looking for it. I researched for months before buying a 2021 Laramie last week and I didn't know about any of the features he mentioned. Thanks for the heads up on the purpose of the shutters, though, it makes more sense to be used for aerodynamics. Ram has some ingenious engineers designing these trucks.

    • @AxlesGarage
      @AxlesGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      A small increase in engine temp will yield better fuel economy. That's why 60/70/80's cars ran at 180, then 90's/200's ran at 195, and now temps are even up above that. You should learn about how the systems work together instead of being overly critical.
