Es emocionante leer que Franz Liszt le tendiera una generosa ayuda al invitándolo a uno de sus conciertos al verlo en desgracia dónde Piatti por una enfermedad debió vender su Chelo, y al presenciar la ejecucion de un concierto con un instrumento prestado el gran músico, impresionado por su talento, le obsequió un Stradivarius. Piatti era un virtuoso. Desde ese momento, a Piatti se le abrieron las puertas del éxito, bien merecidas por lo demás.
