Bravo! What a grand sweep of emotion, and what strong performances! Never heard of Maestro Piatti before this, but now I won't forget him. Thank you Brilliant Classics, for introducing me (once again) to a "new" composer.

Since none of you know of Piatti, it may be interesting to know that he was Solo Cellist of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. And in fact Verdi wrote his Overture for his opera "I Masnadieri" for Piatti--it is simply one long cello solo.

I am a lover of poems. If I read some poems after some delay because of various reasons my mind used to poke me : ' Why did you delay enjoying the beautiful poem?' Similarly,if I am asked about this wonderful 'poem' of maestro Piatti I hope to defend :' Despite Cello being my favourite string instrument this magnificent music came all the way very late'. Great upload, worth noting in my memory! Thanks.

Baroque-era works bears the name of the Italian cellist Alfredo Piatti (1822-1901) .....Classical/Romantic period?....beautiful pieces.

They say that a library of Baroque-era works is named after him (he probably edited and/or transcribed many of its works?), although I searched and haven't been able to find said library.
