David Hansen gave a masterful performance, both technically and musically, with this Handel aria. Hi voice is pitch-perfect without undue vibrato; his phrasing and especially one extended diminuendo are beautifully performed, and his tone warm and attractive. I had the pleasure of hearing him live in an opera.
Fans of countertenor David Hansen will be pleased to know that the first CD featuring his voice in opera - in the role of Ottone in Vivaldi's "Griselda" - is due for release by Pinchgut Opera (Sydney) in July 2012. For further details about the CD, google Pinchgut Opera: Home. Click on "Media Information" and write to the email address at the top. I was privileged to hear David in this highly acclaimed production in December 2011. He brought the house down with his electrifying performance!

Goosebumps.....
Somptueux !
Stop hankering after the castrati....this has to be so much more beautiful. Such evenness of tone, beauty of phrasing. I'm in terrestrial heaven!
Having bought his recent(1st) recital disc,I would say he is a completely natural countertenor.
Is he a natural countertenor or a Baritone or tenor using falsetto?
does it make any artistic difference?
