if you just spam potions and find an fcr item you can just rush through very quick, but you also need to stand a bit closer to mobs because the projectiles are slow. that being said, I kinda like to have a sorc as my second char just because of that "boring" section; I tend to import good starting gear and some money for mana pots and just keep spamming away until I kill Duriel, maybe Mephisto - at that point Glacial Spike is usually already up. Eldritch/Shenk runs to make Lore/Insight available, and hopefully Spirit weapon if I'm lucky to have one by
A note about Infinity: it will break Toorc’s cold immunity in Travincal making trav runs a viable option for a MF sorc. Great place to farm runes, facets, charms, and unique jewelry.

I think i'm gonna use a Blizzard Sorc on my very first Playthrough through Hell. I made a Barbarian and played him Frenzy, an absolute beast for bonking things to death, but that became very one-dimensional rather fast. I'm also worried to go beyond normal difficulty with him since i'm aware that he really heavily relies on quality equipment later. I guess i'm starting with Fire Tree and then respec into Blizzard. Seems pretty straightforward to me. But first, i'll bonk my way through act 5 with the Barb since i like finishing things that i begun. :D
I can recommend going through normal and nightmare with fireball and hydra, it's awesome (hydra scouting and corner farming is so good}. I did a respec to blizzard in hell and it's working for me.
No joke, I was holding shift to assign points and then I thought, "Maybe shift is allocate all," and clicked one at a time instead. My sorc almost had buff arms too!

This guide is really awesome, all in all about gear and basics of blizzard sorceress! I missed some info about Magic Find - you explained about top tear MF gear and low budget gear, but did not suggested in what locations to use such builds - like low budget gear might only be viable in Hell act1 and so on. Once again, thanks for your great Videos learned a lot from them.
Don't worry, I have my first blizz sorceress in Hell, I'm like half way through even getting the basic budget gear and I'm farming any location where cold immunes are not common (now Act V). But I have to admit that it helped a lot when someone gave me The Reaper's Toll in one of those "free stuff" lobbies and I reached lvl 75 with my merc. Till than he was very squishy. Now he can deal with cold immunes without much problem for me.
I would argue that in this case it's similar to WW Barb ie. full Tal Rasha set is also a perfectly viable option (just like full IK is for the Barb which you pointed out). In fact, unless you have really top tier gear (Death's Fathom, Nightwing's, CoH) it will be really hard to beat full Tal's set in terms of damage/utility/defense ratio. I have a perfect Nightwing's and that only with a combination of Spirit + Vipermagi is able to give me slightly better damage for my Blizzard at the cost of massive resistance and MF hits. Unless I made Chains of Honor, found a Death's Fathom and Arachnid's Mesh, it would be really hard for me to get rid of my full Tal's.
After doing some research myself, I agree with you; full Tal's is just overall better than most of the gear sets Llama shows in the video. It's an endgame set that's hard to beat unless you have the specific gear you mention -- and still at a cost to Magic Find
16 hours to go! This will be my first build as always. Normally I follow it up with the Hammeridan build but i'm going to shake it up a little and hopefully start up a summoner build instead. :D
Basically you just skip monsters that are immune. Alternatively if you get lucky an infinity runeword on ur Merc can break many monster immunities. It's most common to just skip monsters you can't kill
I got a Sorc To lvl 82 in 2 days spamming Baal runs, made most the games myself. In contrast my lvl 88 Druid took two weeks or so to get there lol. I’ll admit I had a bunch of decent gear for the Sorc ready to go
A Sorceress always has one point in Teleport, Static field, Warmth and Frozen armor. From there on there are a lot of Sorceress builds, but only the dual specs can clear Hell.
There is a strong argument for the Holy Frost Merc. If you have Insight in a really good base or better in terms of damage then the might merc can be useful for telestomp. But if you're lower level and your merc is weak and mostly there for a mana battery then the real benefit of the Holy Freeze aura is actually VERSUS COLD IMMUNES. Cold Immune players and monsters are not immune to the slowing from Holy Freeze. If you're in survivability mode, even as blizz sorc, holy freeze is unqiquely good. The only monsters you can't kill will be slowed. It will be your only source of slowing down like a mob pack with extra fast and immune to cold. That is scary as a mid level Cold Corc. But a Fire Sorc with immune to fire extra fast doesn't have that problem because they'd be probably having holy Freeze Merc for crowd control without a second thought about damage type
If you have a Normal Combat Merc he has double the effect from Prayer if you equip him with an Insight polearm which can be nice when teleporting around.
you can use an ethereal 4 socketed sword for spirit runeword. when oyu don't fight with it the durability stays perfect. doing a socket is a waste when oyu have a ethereal 4 socketed sword.
how much strength do u usually invest into this sorceress? i know every youtube and wiki page tells u to put just enuf for gear, but ffs how much do u usually put into it? for example. i have a spirit shield which requures 150 str. then do i actually invest solid 150 into str? or do u put str charms in ur inventory. as far as i know there arnt much gear that add str to this build. so i want to know how much base stat seasoned players actually invest into str instead of some generic "just enuf to equip gear". and also how they compensate the other sources of additional str in their gear and all
I have the same question. I pumped 150 points into Strength in order to equip my Monarch Spirit shield. I had no other choice, as my gear adds zero Strength at this point. I assume later on, when you can get better gear that actually adds Strength, you can respec and allocate points accordingly. Initially, you have to pump points into Strength. It is very strange that none of these guides mention that. They make it seem like you can equip Monarch Spirit without pumping Strength. If that's the case, I have no idea how. Lore, Skin of the Viper Magi, Spirit Sword...none of these things add Strength.
@@andrewreynoldson3840 The Monarch shield is the lowest STR required shield that can have 4 sockets. It requires 156 STR. There is nothing lower that can be turned into a Spirit shield.
One thing I'm missing here, is how to spec the sorc for solo hell. If you start going exclusively cold, you will find a lot of monsters you want be able to fight. I'm getting into hydra, just to have some damage at all and plan to respec it fully into blizzard once I'm done with hell, but I don't know if it's a good choice. This information could be useful.
You'll probably want a lighting build more if your soloing hell. Seems their are less things with that resistance but your always going to run into that issue with sorc to some degree unless you have two elemental main damage spells.
It's been so long, someone remind me how having an ali baba on swap helps with mf? basically swap to it for the last hit and get the extra mf % boost for the drop right?
Did you post this spec assuming cold mastery would break immunities? That got silently patched and now works as it did in the original meaning cold mastery alone is not able to break immunities anymore.
hello Llama and everyone else. Im a noob at this game. I had a few questions. Going into full ice tree like that. What happens when you are going through hell and run into ice immunity? having no other elements seems like you would run into issues (I only play alone, and very very rarely with a friend.) also, would this full ice build be good for frozen orb max instead of blizzard max?

if you want a super-early budget mf build, this is the way to go: 3x sigon (50) + 3x(+1) angelic (100) + 2x trancred (78) + rhyme shield (25). total amount of mf = 253. resistances are fairly decent even in nightmare.
I am seeing reports that CM appears to be breaking immunities on its own once you go over the -115% threshold. Apparently it was always supposed to do so but it was glitched in D2 and never fixed until D2R. Can you confirm this? Or anyone really.

@Le Spoje I have gotten mine to 27 and noticed that the same thing. A great example is that I can kill cold immune melee flayers, but not the blowgun flayers. In most cases even if the immunity is broken it just isn’t feasible to kill it because it’s resistance is just too high.
Dumb question from a beginner but how do you not have mana worries (having to take mana potions over and over) without mana regeneration when you kill monsters? Thanks
Having the insight runeword on a 4 open socket grey/gray polearm gives your mercenary a buff that greatly increases your mana regeneration. Some other gear gives +mana when you kill something.
What secondary spell should I get and how many points should I invest in it to kill cold immunes? Those mages are really slowing down my chaos runs even if I ignore them...
@@vitoadragna8507 Honestly I think the best way to clear hell is with frozen orb/fireball or meteor. That's what I did, after I beat hell I respec to blizz to farm meph and ancient tunnels. I mainly play paladin characters though so I don't have the best advice. Though I do think duel element is the easiest way to go to clear hell, especially of you play by yourself.
i'm so upset with myself... I messed up my 3 free respecs of my sorc, and worked really hard grinding diablo and baal to get my last 2 essences... I finally got the last one today, made my respec hammer, and while watching this video i saw Llama SHIFT+Click to add 10 points at a time into stats. i started with strength.... In d2 resurrected... SHIFT+Click apparently adds ALL points into what you click.... so now i'm sitting here with a broken sorc with 442 STR :(.... i'm devastated.... as it is my main... now unplayable :(. I can't even farm Diablo and Baal again now for more essences to fix this :(
Expensive is relative, especially early game. The nice thing is Viper does drop rather easily. I found 2 in NM within a week (on Plugy SSF). One from Andy and one from a council in A3. NM Andy is definitely a good place to farm for one and think you could get one without too much trouble. Later on, when game is around more you can likely trade one for gems but I can't comment on cross platform, good luck.
So should I shoot for 17 into cold mastery or max it out? For a full blizzard sorc. Lvl 90 just re-speced last night and took points out of CM for F-Orb's synergy to ice blast to get exactly 17 for -105% enemy resistances. Isn't maxing Cold Mastery a waste?
MrLlama or others, i have a Blizz sorc level 85, 20 hard points into ice mastery, total Blizz level being 23 with a crystal sword + spirit and a vipermagi. Going through Hell, Act II, can’t injure the bloody creatures. Should i farm to increase my skills levels by looking for Shako, spirit on shield, etc? Also, i swapped from a frizen orb + firewall for Blizz.... have to say was having a much easier time with that build than Blizz, playing on a switch, so that’s also a factor since aiming Blizz is a bit lore tedious than on pc. Thanks!

find a lower str req shield with 4 sockets and make a new spirit is my opinion. Or make the weapon...

Yessir, you can actually cast the blizzard then switch. It only matters what you have when the mob dies

If you run into immunes, run. Thats basically it. If its a immune superunique like Chaos Sanc. seal bosses, then let your merc deal with them.

@Le Spoje was struggling between Orb/Fireball and Blizz Sorc. i will eventually now go with Blizz i guess - the new CM ting is a huge boost imho
@Le Spoje I have gotten mine to 27 and noticed that the same thing. A great example is that I can kill cold immune melee flayers, but not the blowgun flayers. In most cases even if the immunity is broken it just isn’t feasible to kill it because it’s resistance is just too high.

Dumb question from a beginner but how do you not have mana worries (having to take mana potions over and over) without mana regeneration when you kill monsters? Thanks
Having the insight runeword on a 4 open socket grey/gray polearm gives your mercenary a buff that greatly increases your mana regeneration. Some other gear gives +mana when you kill something.
I think my character would have looked funny in the beginning being called "BlizzInYourFace" doing fireballs 😂😂

What secondary spell should I get and how many points should I invest in it to kill cold immunes? Those mages are really slowing down my chaos runs even if I ignore them...

It was true when the game first launched but they patched it.

@@vitoadragna8507 Honestly I think the best way to clear hell is with frozen orb/fireball or meteor. That's what I did, after I beat hell I respec to blizz to farm meph and ancient tunnels. I mainly play paladin characters though so I don't have the best advice. Though I do think duel element is the easiest way to go to clear hell, especially of you play by yourself.

i'm so upset with myself... I messed up my 3 free respecs of my sorc, and worked really hard grinding diablo and baal to get my last 2 essences... I finally got the last one today, made my respec hammer, and while watching this video i saw Llama SHIFT+Click to add 10 points at a time into stats. i started with strength.... In d2 resurrected... SHIFT+Click apparently adds ALL points into what you click.... so now i'm sitting here with a broken sorc with 442 STR :(.... i'm devastated.... as it is my main... now unplayable :(. I can't even farm Diablo and Baal again now for more essences to fix this :(
make a new character, atleast you will have decent gear for it since you were training this one

It's the same game as when it was released in 2000 but as a content creator, I'd say most likely.

You mentioned Skin of the Vipermagi as not being expensive...you mean to trade? With the cross platform play now, how will trading work?
Expensive is relative, especially early game. The nice thing is Viper does drop rather easily. I found 2 in NM within a week (on Plugy SSF). One from Andy and one from a council in A3. NM Andy is definitely a good place to farm for one and think you could get one without too much trouble. Later on, when game is around more you can likely trade one for gems but I can't comment on cross platform, good luck.
Only problem is aren't you basically limited to andy and meph runs? Because of cold immunes?

So should I shoot for 17 into cold mastery or max it out? For a full blizzard sorc. Lvl 90 just re-speced last night and took points out of CM for F-Orb's synergy to ice blast to get exactly 17 for -105% enemy resistances. Isn't maxing Cold Mastery a waste?
Any advice for a new on getting an anni on single player? Also Do I have to beat hell first to get one?
MrLlama or others, i have a Blizz sorc level 85, 20 hard points into ice mastery, total Blizz level being 23 with a crystal sword + spirit and a vipermagi. Going through Hell, Act II, can’t injure the bloody creatures. Should i farm to increase my skills levels by looking for Shako, spirit on shield, etc?
Also, i swapped from a frizen orb + firewall for Blizz.... have to say was having a much easier time with that build than Blizz, playing on a switch, so that’s also a factor since aiming Blizz is a bit lore tedious than on pc. Thanks!
