Saw Buckethead standing outside of the Warfeild during the Opeth show on Halloween night. But I wasn’t sure it was someone dressed as Buckethead and I know it was indeed Buckethead!
I feel lucky to have witnessed this. My 7th Buckethead show… This one was special being on Halloween. I could tell Buckethead was very comfortable with all the costumes. I just felt the incredible positive energy. He was on that night.
First time i ever heard of Buckethead was around 2000 or 2001. It was when he began touring with Guns n Roses. I'm sorry to say i was never a fan of GnR' so i never paid much attention to Bucket Head as a guitarist or musician. Also there was a lot bands appearing during that era wearing crazy costumes and mask's and it seemed a bit silly to me. However 25 years later. I've suddenly stumbled across Bucketheads music and im in love. in love with his talent his music and him. Sorry Mr Buckethead that i could not appreciate your art when i was in my early twenties. I was ignorant and narrow minded. Since re discovering BH roughly two weeks ago ive had a lot of catching up to do with his music. Endless streams of amazing, soulful, heartful, sometimes heavy, sometimes slow and pure heaven sent beautiful guitar work.. Bucket is numero uno in my book.
Absolutely incredible. Such a gifted and creative human being. I’m learning to play guitar now and Buckethead is one of the people that inspired me to start. The more I learn the more I appreciate him. Thanks for posting this. Wish I was there.
Tbh when you’re there in and in the moment, the emotions just overwhelms your system and I was excited to the point of numbness, plus I was in the cold waiting for hours in heels. But to relive it and watch this at the gym feels like I definitely witnessed greatness and it was all worth it. See y’all in Santa Ana, Monterey, Vegas
I knew it would be phenomenal because he always is, but this show felt extra special. I am so happy I got to be there. Thank you to all the cool people I met & especially thank you to Buckethead!
Thank you for recording this and having excellent live sound on it. Great Buckethead set, but one large item that keeps it from being an all-timer which I'm surprised more people aren't mentioning in the comments: 1:48:10 - Bucket breaks the high e and it's kind of downhill from there. He does a great job kind of dealing with the broken string and the guitar being generally a bit out of tune by bending notes to match the backing track's key/pitch and using a lot of effects + feedback for cool sounds, but you can tell it's not what he'd rather be doing. When the solo for Botnus is supposed to come in, he just kind of gives up and signals to his live drummer to break. I'm not so sure it was a planned encore. What blows my mind is that Bucket must gig with a single guitar? I don't know how long the break was off-stage, but it seems like they tried to throw a new string on in 20 seconds instead of swapping guitars, and someone screws it up. He tries to tune up when he gets back on-stage, along with stretching out the string a little bit with heavy vibrato to try to get a pitch that won't instantly nosedive, but it isn't working. He has to move on and mostly avoid the e in a simpler cover, but you can tell it's off in spots like how unintentionally dissonant the octave riff is at 1:53:40. I'm wondering if he decided to go off-set for Spokes for the wheel of torment due to a lot of the riffing being on lower strings; Bucket usually doesn't play a heavier song like that without a backing track. Anyway, he tries to tune up quickly one last time before Soothsayer, but either Bucket or his drummer cuts him off with starting the backing track right away (I know the last song for a show needs momentum, but my God, take an extra beat to try for a few seconds longer?) Maybe the string is just not wrapped correctly because you can see it coming off of the headstock toward the fretboard at a weird angle... By this time, he seems completely rattled, cutting notes short to avoid notes ringing out of tune, some pretty lame vamping at 2:00:16 probably overthinking avoiding the crap high string with his shred patterns, and general lack of confidence with his playing (relative to his typical godly effortless shredding). I'm not sure I've ever seen him drop and grab that many new picks through this tune. He eventually uncorks and just decides to deal with the e sounding like booty at 2:01:37. The unintentional dissonance of 2:01:45 is really rough. He does a badass thing where he decides to just go chromatic around 2:02:22 and it sounds pretty good to mask the string with massive waves of notes, but it borders a bit on finger exercises...then it's just kinda over. I would love to hear what he was thinking with choosing to fight through the show like that or why he wasn't able to be prepared with a backup guitar. A+ vast majority of the show, though!
Thanks for uploading, I'm from france and being in Europe makes it very difficult near impossible to attend Bucketheads concert so this is the closest i can get, I'm going alot to see concerts in general and i always film at least one or two song then stop my phone, just to say that i can feel how uncomfortable it is to film during a concert but yet you did it the whole time , tysm!! ‘Jordan’ is absolutely brilliant.
Thanks for recording and sharing this! Great set! Been a fan since 92 and I don’t believe I have ever seen Bucket do this long of a show, in person or on bootleg. I was excited to see a kit on stage. Don’t get me wrong I could listen to the man play to a backing track all day long, but Always loved seeing Big B with Brain or Pinchface, and now Dan is fantastic. Anyway, thanks!

I love how he played War Pigs in homage to Iommi, note for note. With plenty of emotion, but not overdoing it.
