Thanks for the video. I am buying a few units for my work with a budget of around $1000 and at $339 (March 22) each, these are competing against other units with only 1200-1600va and represent great value.
Ive had my unit 4 years no phsical issues with it other then when unit changes to battery the monitor looses display on the Pc other then that annoying problem its a decent uint, havnt changed the batterys on it though it suggests every 4 years your should do
@@Dafoxx-1 I doubt your batteries will power your load for more than 30 seconds. If you have the CyberPower PowerPanel Personal software, it includes a test function. You should test it. I did the same thing, thinking everything was running fine, but during a power outage my PC turned off immediately. Batteries were completely dead for almost a year based on how my second set of batteries performed with a bi-monthly test. Woops.
Just got the 1600 elcd and I was worried about the buzzing noise when it was working off-grid. It is a relieve knowing it is "normal". Actually, mine seems to be a tad quieter than yours, so I guess it is directly linked to how much power the ups is able to deliver.. Anyway, thanks a lot for this video.
Thanks for the video, I have a question, when connecting to the QNAP NAS via USB do you also have to connect the NAS to the UPS power connectors on the back or will the UPS control & power the NAS via the USB port?
You need to connect the NAS power cable into the UPS or it will not be running on battery backup when the power goes out. The USB cable is for data only to trigger the shutdown. I've covered this more here: www.rootusers.com/setting-qnap-nas-to-shutdown-on-ups-battery-power/
Great review - my question is, must you plug this into the wall? Or can you plug it into a surge board? I know it already has surge protection in this, but would it do me any harm NOT to plug this into the wall and instead to plug it into my surge protector (in a way, giving me double surge protection) ? Thanks!
I have had 3 of these, just replaced one. Any idea why they would get hot? The units typically aren't warmer than room temp, and the load has never exceeded 50%, but eventually it seems the transformer will get incredibly hot and then the batteries will swell. Haven't had the same issue with the VALUE1200ELCD model. I'm about to do another battery change after only 1.5 years of operation, and the front of the unit isn't as hot as the back half is, so it's obviously the transformer. Any insights after 6 years?
Thank you for this video. Have you had any experience with online UPS? Since online UPS is always on with the battery converting DC back to AC to your components, do you know if the noise is also constantly occurring? Thanks in advance.
I was wanting a UPS to keep the modem going during a power outage but these are super expensive for the amount of power backup they offer and really don't seem to last long at all if used for the purpose I am wanting. Do you have another suggestion? Our power outages regularly last 18+ hours
Their main purpose is to mostly provide enough backup power to safely shutdown your equipment in the event of an outage, you should still get a few good hours just running your modem and ont but for you I think you should get a petrol or diesel generator to power everything for longer outages, I would still recommend a UPS to provide temporary power which should give you enough time to setup your petrol generator
On APC models going back 15 years at least you can press a button to silence the beep. As such to use during blackouts to charge phones and laptops....
Hello Jarrod, I recently purchased a 43" lcd/led smart tv wih sound bar and woofer, is it safe to plug all 3 appliances on there and if so will it significantly increase my electric bill if i always keep it plugged in?
i got the same one as you i'm down on the nsw south coast bought an APC one and it's made of plastic it got very warm didn't like that i now no longer using it i think this CyberPower is a lot safer. the CyperPower is is not even warm to touch it now run's my NAS and CCTV system close to 200 watt's, it will be for a while and if there is a fire it's pretty safe since it's nearly fully metal which i like unlike the APC one :( we are going to be buying a Tesla PowerWall Soon and that can run off grid now which is great so even more safer outside of the home will be about 2 years from now to get one
I've had it for about a year now for my overkill gaming PC. Haven't found any issues. Since I live in an area where there is often black/brownouts so it is definitely a necessary part of my setup.
That's good, yeah mine worked fine for years before I had any issues and replaced it, which is fine for the price :) definitely worth it for the amount of times it's saved me lol
Thanks Jarod, I eventually found the information on a UK website, all the local ones only had surge protection as, YES... not very helpful. I have powerboards that rate up to 700 joules. In your opinion, is 125 joules enough for a device that’s hooked up to so many important items?
Hmm not really sure to be honest, I haven't investigated how much a typical surge is, that said I actually have my UPS behind a surge protector board anyway.
I think this is useless info as each pc is different. Someone has PSU >700W and has videocard requireing lots of power another has minipc type computer which uses 10W. You just need to calculate based on the fact it has 2 batteries 9AH, so basically it has 9*2*12WH=216WH. So if you pc uses 100W it will work 2.1h max. If you PC uses 650W it will work 20 mins max. The real times probably will be lower.
Hey bro could you do a vid on specs and what they do in a laptop because I don't know much about it, and I'm thinking about purchasing a gaming laptop so I would like to know each main spec so I can buy the perfect gaming laptop for me
I've done something like that for picking a laptop CPU, I compared the different ones commonly available in gaming laptops with some benchmarks here: th-cam.com/video/HrT75GyQqXM/w-d-xo.html I'd like to do one similar for graphics cards, but I haven't personally tested enough of them to really make a useful video yet, hopefully in future though!
Hi Jarod, thx for the review:) I just bought the same ups but I'm scared it won't work well on my PC because of the simulated sine wave. Can I ask you what PSU do you use for your PC? I have a Corsair TX650M with active pfc..
No problem! I have a Corsair HX1000i and no problems so far after years of using them, some other older Corsair PSU before that too, AX850 from 2010 I think.
Hey, this has a capacity of 1320 watts, so it should be enough, how long it lasts will depend on how much power is being drawn though, so it will depend on what you're doing on the PC. I'm running a 1950X system with 1080, so it's definitely not light on power.
I know it's an old video but I just got the om900atlcd, does it needs to recharge first during some time? because I pluged it to the wall and the LCD screen does not turn on, I hear only a Beep sound but when I plug something to the UPS it is receiving power. When I unplug the UPS from the wall and press the On button (charged for 1 hour since I opened the box) the led screen flashes blue and turns off. I hope someone can help me :( Thank you in advance
Hey i think you said you had the same model of UPS then it died after some time while showing 2 UPS, one with the different connectors at the back. Do you know what the name of the one with the extra ports is called? I assume i would be able to convert the ports to standard AU power ports and get more ports in the end. as i have 2 Montiers, PC, router and the NBN box. Thanks for your time.
I think it has the same model name, you just have the option of getting the different connectors. I didn't see it anywhere when I went to buy the newer one, so it might have just been something the older one had.
There was literally no need to get an entire new unit... There was nothing wrong with the UPS the batteries were at fault and no the batteries do NOT need replacement they simply need maintenance (the tag that says "maintenance free" is a lie) after a few years and not being used crystals form on the lead plates which block electrical flow. It will show 100% charge but cannot supply the current due to this. To fix this you simply need to charge them up, put them on a heavy load and charge them back up again. Repeat that 5 - 15 times and it's good as new again.
@@temp850 you charge them until they are full and then put them on a heavy load like let's say a car headlight bulb. This process dissolves the crystals in the battery which stops the electrical flow between the lead plates. By dissolving the crystals electrical current can flow much easier and better than before. Fun fact sulfated lead acid batteries are the most common reason why lead acid batteries are thrown away because 1. People think the battery is dead. 2. They don't bother fixing them and buy completely new ones

usb B port (the one this has) is a slave port and are not allowed to supply power by the USP 2.0 standard if I remember correctly
