definitely a huge upgrade with the button layout. very ergonomic, especially that front dial. if only they added a joystick and it would've been perfect.
Yes, I agree, a joystick would have been the cherry on the cake!
I'm a Sony insider and the they kept the joy stick out so you can buy the full frame offerings
Not really a fan of the front dial as i always mistaken it with the on/off button. Imagine wanted to change the aperture & mistaken that during a crucial time….
Bought the a6700 about 4 months ago. This thing is amazing! Especially during the blue hour, and night time. No apreciable noise! Almost looks full frame.
Back illuminated sensor is the most important upgrade in this one, I think. I really want to see some low light noise comparison with the a6600.
Noise was the main reason I went to a7III but I hate the big lenses I have to carry around.
I'm hoping to receive a review copy of the A6700 from Sony soon, in which case I'll likely try and get hold of an a6600 too for comparison. So, keep an eye out for that 👀

I'm not switching but would add this A6700 along with my A7 III, I was thinking of getting the FX30 before but for less cost and as a hybrid shooter the A6700 is more appealing to me.

I got the a6700 & I returned it because of the Overheating issues and it get so hot and takes like 15 minutes to turn on again 😢 such a pretty camera, it has like skin blur but the overheating is absolutely awful 😢😪🤦♀️

Am looking at that a6400 as a smaller, compact yet capable everyday shooter. Canon doesn't have anything that can compare to the a6400 imo as far as form factor goes.

a6700 or a7IV? I have the a6400 now but I just don’t know which one to go with. 98% videography work. Any suggestions?
I would say a6700 as the a7IV crops its 4k60 footage to APSC format anyway.. I'm actually about to make the same choice and that's my thinking :)

Love my a6000! Will never get rid of it and it never disappointed me. A good camera is a good camera, no matter the age.
Ok so part of me wants to get the a7iii but then this has the new fangled ai chip with updated features i wish were on the a7iii. But it comes in at substantially lower in terms of cost. I could be into the 6700 body for around $1,100 vs the 1,500 cost of the FF a7iii. I'd be losing so much in terms of feature set but gaining that full frame appeal with dual card slots etc.
I personally wouldn’t prefer the flip screen. I like to be able to look from high and low angles more than seeing myself in video

Will do Tom, I’m eagerly anticipating the Viltrox 75mm f1.2 E mount to try on the A6700. From what I have seen then have added a customisable button and an aperture de-click switch compared to the Fuji version.

If they gave it external recoding over usbc it would have been an instant buy for me. I get that the a6000 series isn’t marketed for professionals. But damn it would be nice if they made a pro apsc body. Like a mini a7 with all of the same features only with an apsc sensor. They have the fx3 and fx30, the zve10 and zve1, now give us an a7 crop body to pair with our a7 FF bodies 😤
Just move to Fuji if you are keen on APSC. Sony APSC a6xxx scene won't see much improvement after ZV is also entering the market.

@@Whiskeyj456 it already exists. A7r5 in super35 mode. Sony strategy doesn't want to cannibalize their own share, they really safely avoid it. APSC.. wants video? FX30 for pro features or zv-e10 for non pro. Hybrid? A6xxx. You want more? Just go FF and make APSC your B-cam
What is the S&Q mode?
Slow & Quick. It lets you record from 1fps to 120fps but play back at 24,30,60 fps. So straight out of camera the footage is already slowed or sped up. If you record in 60-120fps on standard movie mode you would have to slow it down on your timeline in post for example

I am bailing out, the A6700 has scrapped all computational photography features. I am buying the OM-1 II instead and going with Micro Four Thirds. Sony has the right to go in the direction they feel is right, it's just not the right direction for me.
What is low light performance like?
I haven't tested it myself (yet) but the back-illuminated sensor on the A6700 is meant to give it the edge when it comes to low light performance.

For photography the a6400 with good glass will do just fine. No need to upgrade

well, I came from olympus em10... so... I think this is perfect
If you are videographer definitely, just record in bursts of 10 minutes to avoids overheating, use his nasty codecs, or look for the very poor viewfinder. Or just get yourself a S5II

Depends on your budget and your requirements really. If you're a videographer, the A6700 IS A BEAST! If you're a photographer, there are less things to be excited about. The new sensor will help in low light and the new AI driven AF tools are awesome, but if you can live without both, maybe look at getting a second hand a6600 and save yourself some cash!

Just get the latest if you can afford it effortlessly. Third dial is just worth it.
