Skied Taos many times made the hike all the way to the top once, There are multiple awesome runs off that trail up he was on... It is so easy to get sucked into one.
This video doesn't quite illustrate actually how hard it is to hike to Kachina. It's a good 1.5-2 hours of a hike and is an intense workout to get there. My favorite as a kid was to hit Twin Trees Chute which is off the ridge about half way to Kachina. Dope video.
Appreciate that! I’m glad Jimbo (the guy/ my husband in the video) took the footage when he went because I don’t think I’d be able to make that hike! Cool to know you’ve spent some good time out there. Taos is awesome.
Oh man, it was closed until the very last day we were there. The lift was still closed, but opened up hiking access from lift 2. Hope you had good snow.
It's definitely a learning curve, but so worth it! I went for the first time about two years ago, and my husband's granny learned at age 60! Thank you!
@@bechammock hey thanks! I am either gonna home base in Taos or Grand Targhee with a season pass this year! Haven't ripped Taos since 2015 and love it there. My sister got engaged there. Special place!
Yes. They did have the lift closed to the public when my husband (the guy who took the video) skied this. It was hiking access only, and I believe the hike to trail was only opened this far two of the days we were there in February 2021.
Leslie was my ski teacher for a few years up until 2017 or 18, she's an amazing skier!
@toxicSamurai , that’s awesome!!!

Awesome view. They had that whole area closed off when I visited last week, I believe

Never been skiing but this makes me want to go. Great Footage!

Hey why did they run that new lift to the Top for the patrons?
Hey! To be honest, I’m not sure. I’ll let you know if I find out :)

@@bechammock that’s cool. I’m moving to NM, so I’m excited to ski at Taos!
Weird how they have a lift right there but then just for ski patrol geez. Why even have it?
For avalanche control
Yes, I believe at the time it was for avalanche control. I’m not sure what the case is now!
It’s was only for ski patrol at the time. It opens to the public every year when ski patrol deams it safe for the public
@@bechammock its open for the public now!
Can you not just take that lift there???
I know the day he hiked , it was closed to the public. That was a couple years ago, so I’m not sure if they open it.
