You will be long remembered as a true effects visionary. The star gate sequence in 2001, the mothership in close encounters and the amazing well ahead of its time blade runner effects. Silent Running is a beautiful film and Brainstorm is one of the most enjoyable and underrated films ever made. Mr Trumbull, you are and will always be a genius in filmmaking!

Years ago as part of the Universal Studios Florida "Back lot tour" you could see the practical stunt cars exterior shells and a couple of the ( ground ) "running models" with engines, and a Deloreon mock up... good times ☺
Douglas ,has always had the unique ability to make his visually stunning ships of sci- fi , just effortlessly float through a scene !!!! By the way , I would like to personally thank Douglas Trumbull for "Silent Running" one of my all time favorites , even though I my doubts when It first came out , ( because of the old Western bad guy usually ,Bruce Dern in Space ). However Bruce's ability to move me emotionally ,was indeed ,humbling ! Thank you Sir. Douglas Trumbull ( as you are knighted in my eyes ) for all of your visual splendor that has taken my mind to higher levels of see ! Honorable mention to "Brainstorm "

Now, however with Ang Lee's 4k 120 frames per sec. film coming out...what Dec 2016 or so? Doug is back. All hail the Dougster. I'm sure Cameron is watching too....

Wow never heard of him, and I've been into special/visual effects for decades. Not an expert or something, but have seen like 100 documentaries over the years about making Star Wars, or Jurassic Park, or even 2001 and Blade Runner. Is he like the guy who physically played Darth Vader. . . just got erased from history and never mentioned?
