    It should be noted that the LIRR is one of the ONLY US Railroads still operating under its original Charter. It was Chartered in 1834 and has been in continuous operation since. of course its gone bankrupt a few times along the way but that's normal.

    It would also be a great idea to improve the Hempstead yard, too.

    I'm gonna be the first on the scene for both of these projects when they're done. I found a permanent home in Ronkonkoma, and I am looking forward to seeing this Mid-Suffolk Train Yard.

      Exactly. I'm also impatient to see these new electric trains too.. it's my understanding that the Ronkonkoma branch is gonna get them..

      How come you do all of that when you can take the (2) all the way to 34th? It takes you right there. Besides, more Ronkonkoma trains originate from Penn Station than Atlantic Terminal.

    Like to see a Huntington yard, I can see areas over there where it can go without knocking down anything

    LIRR has a choice of buying more m7s or possibly DM30's and switch it into electric mode (DE30 AC)

    Will this expansion completely replace the Ronkonkoma Yard, or will the Ronkonkoma Yard and Mid-Suffolk Yard remain separate from each other?

      ***** what your said i a pipe dream. I wish it was not but it is. All but 110 and 231 which could realistically on budget use SBS and bus lanes.
      25a they recently split up the n20 to the n20G and N20G/H to cut wait times. All other lines are impossible either due to budget exsisting ridership numbers and/or parking

    • @RCTNextGeneration
      @RCTNextGeneration 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes i know im looking at the local budget Nassau County recently cut 6 bus routes. People who use Public transit are treated as second class citizens. And that unfortunatly is not going to change anytime soon. As car culture in entrenced it suburbia.
      And i also have a counter argument the MTA the NYC transit system is in debt even with full capacity busses and subways. Projects come in always over budget and late. And transit fares have increased over the years. Most bus routes are not effecient with usally 2 or 3 busses coming at the same time.
      Now I am a transit rider who lives in NYC I take the subway and the lirr to work every day so i understand your point. Is also understand US transit systems including the MTA are underfunded. And as you said it all has to with culture the rich snobs who run the legislature who wont set foot on a bus

      The three were cleared a few weeks ago and are piled up in the place where the new yard will be...so...knowing how the MTA keeps to schedules...probably a few years.

    To BAD nobody but, nobody--ask How come not better service EAST of Ronkonkoma--pay attention--the LIRR is about to pack up its weekend service EAST of Ronkonkoma for the winter-yea, right based on low ridership--B.S. Look at the rotten service out that way--that why--you couldn't go to the City and come back the same day--??? maybe give the track to the Atlantic railway?? Oh MY
