    I was actually gasping when I see the design of this because my first thought is Bahamas, Caribbean with all the small islands. Whilst I am still NOT ready to put 💰 down on anything just yet, I will definitely keep this in the watch list. This is absolutely a great vessel. Thank you as always. ❤

      Boat prices are going to fall. Have been falling, but I know quite a few brokers and they are waiting for the bottom to drop. They all know it's coming, but take whatever you have and put it aside then wait. Also look at St. Barths, Lazzara, SARP, Arksen, and Ava yachts. Depending on what you are looking for, these are great explorer yachts with an eye towards eco-friendly designs.

      And yes.,,,I know you know who those brands are. Lol. I'm just hearing that because those are smaller brands, they'll take the hit first and lower prices.

    Only time will tell if the looks will become classic or quirky, looks a little like a "canal barage" that aside there are plenty of innovation that should attract buyers, like the solar panels intergrated as a natural light source, this must be a technique that will be more common place in the future. Nice job guys

    The boar looks like a modern version of a river steam boar from jungle cruise, not so pretty. But i love the indoor space and the full beam VIP & owner cabins. That’s what sold it for me, great info and photage of the yacht. TYVM

      Agreed, I thought it was funny how he said, “eco friendly”. Lol it’s a yacht, making those panels does more damage to the planet than they are useful. They do look slick.

  • @marcelwin6941
    @marcelwin6941 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Like the design. And I have to say the first "classic" (monohull) yacht I have seen wherr the builder has integrated solar panels well. Even though I wish they had gone one step further and used electric propulsion with generator support where and as much as needed (hybrid Diesel-electric solution). I understand that purely electric is still not achievable for monohulls (and even Silent Yachts need to use a generator from time to time / for higher speeds).

    • @marcelwin6941
      @marcelwin6941 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Side note: I really like your work, David! Btw., when will we see a walkthrough of a Silent 80 (preferrably closed tri-deck ("penthouse") version)? 😉

    • @theislandsc

      It wouldn’t be very hard to convert the Vnew MAN diesels to electric hybrid.
      MAN makes an in-house hybrid marine system and E-motion offers an aftermarket option.

      40L/hour for 8 people is 5L per hour per person (at 10knots) driving your sweet mansion through empty blue seas.
      Or driving a scooter through the city with same consumption.

    • @janentomenkafka
      @janentomenkafka 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Uhm... one litre of diesel produces 10 kWh. A fuel consumption of 40 litres means 400 kW per hour. That's 400.000 watt. If one solar panel produces 300 watt you'd need an awful lot of solar panels ;-)

  • @dleetr
    @dleetr 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    If you think about it, the more interior volume versus external space, the less wear from the environment and elements on the fittings and fixtures. You cut down exposure to sea air, salt spray, rain, UV, sea gulls etc.

  • @chrish2996

    Hi David and Ed. Using the solar panels as a roof feature is clever. Full sized vip, master cabin and ensuite. The exterior design is not the norm . . . Unique profile. Great walkthrough as always 😊 thanks

    some interesting points but i believe catamarans below 90 ft. are the future for crewed and owner. 80ft hybrid solar large battery storage with sensibly sized engines, dry stack ,keel cooled, doubling as genset. would be about right. above 90 cat or single.

    I believe Arcadia yachts is 1 of the hidden gems in the yacht building industry, I particularly love the Arcadia 105. I can understand if its not everyone's cup of tea as its nothing like the traditional yacht build but those who can appreciate a different design will find it hard to choose anything else in its size range.

    With all the solar panels (I may be wrong, haven’t finished the video) my first thoughts were of a yacht like Wider or was it Wilder? The one that used 4 generators and electric engines. I think a Japanese company bought the line and we haven’t heard much since. The design also has similar design elements. Looks beautiful! ❤

    Arcadia was a full breath of fresh and challenging design when it arrived to the market in 2010. Arcadia did there homework and designer Francesco Guida delivered an utilitarian look yet at the same time with a purpose for entertaining. tbh I am just a bit disappointed that the new A96 (coming in 2023) is gonna get a more standardized look versus the other Arcadias including the entry level Sherpa range. But the A85 is a top pocket super yacht (24-30 m size) and that is why they have sold fourteen of them.

    Liking it!! However I would be wary of anything that is bought and sold after only a few months (I think that what was said) so an explanation of the current owners thinking would be useful for any potential purchaser. The mention of all the warranty work certainly rings alarm bells. Maybe not the best thing to have said at this stage.

    • @PowerYacht

      tbh this has happened a lot in Covid 2020-22 times. Most who have money tried yachting (automatic social distancing and all), some got the fast bug and after being cautious already wanna go bigger or different, others found out yachting is not for them. Actually sometimes a used boat even if just one year old gives a better opportunity to go skin deep on the quality of a yacht. Think about this.

    I'm undecided on this one. I love the solar panels and the interior decor. The ability to open or close the hatch between the galley and dining area is great. I'm definitely not a fan of this bathroom- in-cabin thing that's rearing it's ugly head more and more. From the outside it looks like a tinted greenhouse on water 😁 also the rust stain on the bow spoils it. Imagine that in a few years and the constant battle to keep it clean. As someone else in the comments said, a Marmite yacht.

  • @Ian-gf8id
    @Ian-gf8id 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    It's interesting but, on balance, not in an altogether good way. The more I look at it the more I see 'floating greenhouse' in the styling - not what I'd call a pretty boat. I think elements of the styling will date very quickly, and at that price there are a great many alternatives that I'd rather have if I had €6 million in loose change.

    You get to travel really slow on a yacht with no A/C, way too bright interiors, rocks like Styrofoam In a wave pool and isn't very attractive. I mean...what is not to like about it? (I don't know why he called it low speed yachting when most explorer yachts travel at 8-10 knots, that's normal speed to people that like these yachts...like me.)

    • @marcelwin6941
      @marcelwin6941 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The solar (power) system will do very little for range for this yacht as it only powers the appliances (and a few other systems like AC), there is no electric propulsion. You will "only" save a few liters of Diesel from using the generator less. It would potentially be different if they changed propulsion to a hybrid drive snd added some serious battery capacity to store surplus energy when the boat is not moving and the solar panels are producing more power than needed for appliances. This is not a Silent Yacht or Sunreef Eco with electric propulsion.
