    I love putting clasps on straps and knowing Formex has an unbranded version of their clasp is awesome because they make the best clasps period.

    Interesting contraption. Never really found undoing my watch strap as such an annoyance I would want to make it "easier", and certainly seems to add unnecessary bulk. But no doubt I'm sure there is a market for it

      I feel the same. Rubber straps aren’t difficult to operate and nothing worth preserving. Not to mention, seiko rubber straps have a decent amount of stretch which leaves me scratching my head by the end of the video.

    I loved the idea so much I ordered the clasp and spring bars and just received them. Just be wary - I have 7" wrists give or take, but i have very large hands. When I adjusted the position of the clasp properly with the formex clasp, i can barely fit my hand through it to get the watch on and off. The adjustment mechanism to fine tune the fit of the rubber strap was my biggest reason for buying this, but I'm not sure having to struggle to get the watch on and off is worth it. The clasp is awesome, and well made, and when it's on it is very comfortable - just might not be the right solution for everyone.

    I’ve got a Seiko divers watch 5M62 It’s so small I can hardly read it. I have a very small wrist & the original strap is WAY to long for me. I don’t want to cut it down shorter. I think it’s so long so it will go around a wet suit. The pins will come out by pushing something through a hole in the lug on the watch. LOts of luck finding something long enough that fits just right in that hole. I do have something that worked. I had removed the original band & put one on that looks great but you can’t get it soaked wet. Iv’e got some spare bands & just happened to have one supper flexible & very comfortable to wear made of I think a silicon rubber. I don’t dive but like to wear it in the pool, just like the way it looks. I think the proper band makes all the difference on how much you lie the watch.

    I was looking for a solution with the tail always sliding off the SS belt... I dont find any use to this thing (the clasp for the rubber strap) I am sorry but I find it stupid / complex / unecessary... Just like a cup holder for a cup holder type of thing... But has someone come up with a solution for the tail sliding off from the seiko rubber strap? Im thinking of tossing the original and Just get a barton..

      Omega has one with that design but the only issue is that in order for it work both ends of the strap have to be almost the same length which most straps aren't. But on the aqua terra that deployment clasp is perfect.

  • @WatchesAndPhotography
    @WatchesAndPhotography ปีที่แล้ว

    I just don’t see why I would want to put a clasp on a strap. I put a rubber strap on my Seiko precisely for the reason I did not like having a bracelet and clasp on my watch and wrist.

    How to make a normal watch strap more complicated than it needs to be .

  • @RickDeckardMemories
    @RickDeckardMemories 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Very intelligent design, and I totally believe it's well made... but...
    Even if it's lightweight, it adds so much complexity and so much bulk (probably twice the thickness?), and it subtracts $85 plus tax from my pocket.
    😖😣😕

  • @garyshepherd9226
    @garyshepherd9226 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Over engineering something that doesn't need doing. For $85 ? Blimey....

    • @Strideo1
      @Strideo1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have no idea what you're trying to say about over engineering. Looks like the right amount of engineering for the clasp's function and micro adjusting is a nice feature to have. The carbon fiber is just to keep it lightweight.
      I agree it's a bit expensive but I have yet to find a decent deployant clasp that wasn't a bit pricey or a cheap deployant clasp that didn't have a major flaw or didn't fall apart. The ones I've found for $15-$20 don't seem to have reliable latching mechanisms.

    • @islandwatch
      @islandwatch  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't think it's over engineered. Just the right amount. It's the only deployant like this with micro-adjust.

    • @garyshepherd9226
      @garyshepherd9226 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I meant the idea of this expensive clasp for a rubber strap is an over engineered concept for something that isn't really a problem in my opinion.
