Dude... you are the freaking man! I hate that you make me wanna buy a Murph. Just got the Expedition and I love it and on a bracelet, the Murph would fight it for wrist time... on top of many other field watches I have... watch addiction is real and watching excellent content makers like you is not helping. Just bought an uncle seiko bracelet yesterday for my old vintage 321 speedmaster and the 3 hole adjustment clasp for my new Seiko speedtimer. It never ends...
I am the opposite of you as a neurologist... pediatric orthopedic surgeon, but I did try to get into neurology back in medical school until I realized as cool as it was diagnostically, you can't really help anyone... Glad you found another way to actually help people! (I am kidding of course!). Keep up the great work at work and at play!
This was an excellent video with the refresh tutorial provided. Amazing work here!
Great video.
Such an excellent example of how strap Changes can transform a watch.
And your polishing efforts were superb!
You really can't beat the versatility on Hamiltons. A Khaki Aviation looks in its element on a hike just much as it does at a wedding. And it's nice to see the Murph follows the same philosophy, but it deserved a steel bracelet version.
1/4th of my collection are on Uncle bracelets, including the 60th Anniversary Carerra featured in this video. Uncle have been knocking it out of the park the last few years.
Hey Max, good job on refinishing that clasp! a while back I bought a Bergeon polishing blocks. The fine finishing block (I think its the 5444) gives a super fine and consistent finish. Something to add to your watch tool box perhaps.
Bought this exact bracelet for the Murph and I LOVE it. Makes the Murph one of my favorites to wear. I own a lot of Uncle Straps bracelets and straps.
There’s definitely a Murph in my future and I also was wondering about a nice bracelet to maximize versatility. Thanks for making this video😎. I wonder if there are also these same options for the 42mm murph since they have different lug width.🤔. Side note- just added the watchcrunch app and loving it so far! I’m just a greenhorn having only been a watch enthusiast for less than a year, but how cool is it for enthusiast to have a pure watch content feed to interact with each other. Awesome😎👌👍🙌
The leather nato combination looked fantastic
Having collected, bought, and sold watches since my 20s, I found this out only recently. I used to get bored and just sell. But I’m in a good place with some core pieces like the Basculante and Pelagos 39. Swapping straps has allowed me to enjoy the watches without always feeling a need for a new watch.
Max...you are so handy with your refinishing skills! 👏🏻
Hehe, must be all the years working on cars
Great video, need more like this with a focus on bands, straps, etc.
I'm on it 🫡
@@WatchCrunchOfficialwhat are your thoughts on the oyster vs jubilee bracelet on the Murph?
Looks so good on the bracelet
As always, another great video and review from Max!
Thanks my man!
Great video!
Loved the video!
I own several US bracelets. They are awesome. I love how on some bracelets you can use the OEM clasp (such as the BB58 you showed). I have a Tudor Black Bay 36 (first gen) that came on an oyster bracelet. I bought the US jubilee and it looks the business. And I was able to use my BB36 clasp.
I wanted to sell my Seiko SRPE55 until I put it on a J-Style (from Long Island Watch). I liked it on different straps, but now I love it.
Good video and nice look for the Murph! I went on the Uncle website and the bracelet is sold out so looks like I missed out. Hopefully they will get more in stock.
Wow, it looks amazing with the steel bracelet
This is exactly what happened with me! I have the Murph, and bought the Uncle straps bracelet, and it's a total game changer. The Murph was kind of a weird niche in my collection because it was on leather, making it kind of impractical in many situations. With the bracelet it becomes a truly GADA watch. Such a thin profile, making it light and easy to wear. Highly recommend for anyone who owns the Murph.
A top video Max. Oddly I'm wearing my Murph (old version) on my wrist today when this video popped up. I confess I have not considered changing the strap as the original is comfortable on my 7" wrist. As a modern watch designed to look old with the aged hands an numerals It ticks all the boxes but yes adding AR would make it more readable. I'll have to see if a strap from uncle is available for my version and give it a try at some point. You did a cracking job on the BB58n clasp though and I might just consider and Uncle bracelet for my BB58. The clasp clean up was great and I might just give that a try on a few of my scratched up clasps. Many thanks for sharing.
Thanks Anthony!
that scratch removing technique was amazing, might try it in my old Tissot. definitely not brave enough to brush the Tudor😅
I’ve had an almost year long love affair with my 38mm Murph. It all started the moment I first laid eyes on the Rolex Explorer 14270. I wanted that watch, but it was too expensive…
Fast forward a year and I got my Explorer after several attempts at scratching that itch. The Murph, Baby Alpinist, BB36… etc. I could have saved so much money if I had just bit the bullet. Anyway, this is supposed to be about the Murph. After I scratched that itch I developed a real appreciation for the Murph. I love it for what it is and not for what I was trying to make it. It’s incredibly legible and I personally enjoy the lack of AR coating. It gives it a ju nu se qua.
That’s what I said: jané say kwah
I like the reflective coating on my auto as well strange but gives it a little pop and its extremely readable despite what people say. Have you kept all the other watches then ? How does the murph compare to the baby alpinist?
@@daveLin104 the baby alpinist is great, but all of the macro shots you see on YT and other socials make it look 10x better than it does on wrist. That’s not to say that it’s a bad dial. It’s a beautiful dial… just not what’s advertised under the macro lens 😅. I’ve worn it twice, so it’s in mint condition and I need to sell it. Just been too lazy.
The BB36, on the other hand, is phenomenal. Some days I like it more than the explorer 😂. It’s just a more modern, slightly “divery” version of it. It’s got the exact same beautiful black lacquered dial as the Explorer. Can’t get enough of those two.
@latinballa88 thanks for the reply 🙏 I get what you mean social media and youtube can make any warch look good and far better in real life on the wrist 😀 Some watches the other way round need to be seen in person. Do you have the old BB36 ? The one with the non sunburst dial. I loved this watch and nearly bought think was about £2100 then the price went to arpund £2600 then discontinued:( I missed out.
Yep, it’s the ETA or “Smiley” BB36. Found one that was used, but in near mint condition for around £1,700 😅. Managed to haggle it down 😬. Highly recommend picking one up if you come across one. It’s so sturdy that even a good polish wouldn’t ruin it 👌
Now to get the task harder: titanium bracelet (black finish)? Would you know of a supplier?
The idea of changing strap to 'change' a watch is already in my head even before I buy my first watch.
And the idea keeps alive, so there are rules
1. No integrated bracelet (no PRX or Royal Oak, like I could buy an RO)
2. No odd lug width
Studio tour would be great! Great video, once again :) Good luck in new studio
Thank you! Let's go 👍
Hi Max, I think I remember that you once mentioned that you are a physician. So, here's a question: Do you think that some watch-strap materials may be toxic when in contact with the skin for extended periods of time? I'm thinking resin, silicone, and nylon. I don't mean irritation or allergic reaction. I mean can these materials leach into the skin and get into the bloodstream? Is this a problem?
I put my Murph in the original box yesterday with the thought of selling. Love it but I really am a bracelet fan. You may have granted a stay of execution.😂
Any good bracelet recommendations for the tissot gentleman? It has 21mm lug width, preferably all brushed links.
This is great watch. It is an affordable explorer without being a copy.
I got uncle seiko bracelet for LLD and also for my alpinist but I must say the brushing and polishing is visibly different from the watch case. So if you are OCD about these things you should take that into consideration. The brushing was in completely different direction for my alpinist. But some people really dont care about these things :-D
I appreciate that US offers so many options but their products… the quality could be higher. I purchased two half links, one for my BB58 and another for my Pelagos. The BB58 link disassembled itself while I was wearing the watch - lucky it didn’t fall and get destroyed. The Pelagos half link looks nothing like the rest of the bracelet.
Great video. Thanks for presenting new options.
You got it!
The new studio looks 🔥
Thanks 😊
would this bracelet work on the hamilton field automatic as well?
Uncles Classic GL831 rubber dive is what made them famous on seiko watches. I own one and it’s so soft and comfortable. As for their other products, I have been less impressed which feel cheap and look better on camera than on person.
I keep thinking of getting an olive green GL831 for my seiko spb143 would you recommend then ?
@@daveLin104 I put that strap on a king turtle and I like the look and result. The spb143 is more upscale though maybe also consider zealande? I put my Omega SMP 300 on their rubber strap and it’s stunning and on a whole new level compared to uncle
@hemantishwaran5741 thanks for the recommendation never heard of them I will have a look :)
I've always wanted to try my Murph on an Artem sailcloth strap
Will that uncle bracelet fit the Khaki King?
I was meh about the Murph until I saw it on that bracelet. 😍
I don't mind when review videos are actually ads, but just acknowledge it. *Sponsored by Uncle Straps*.
Why would a non screw-down crown concern you while swimming with the Murph? What does a screw-down crown have to do with water resistance?
Great video. Congratulations on the new space! Definitely want a tour. The burgundy Zero Pass on the Hammy is Fuego my guy. I like silly Max added in 👍🏾
Haha, yes I needed more space for silliness 🤪
To get a nice shine use 1000 to 1500 grit with soap and water 😊 nice video
I admire your job. It has changed my attitude towards Murph completely. Even the ugliness of big crown disappears. The only thing this video misses - a light brown leather strap. Would be nice to compare. Anyway, now the Hamilton challenges Tudor Ranger, and ( considering a price category ) - Rolex Explorer. Dearly appreciated!
Another great video Max. I have used their bracelets for each of the last two Alpinists I picked up.
Secret's out!
I agree that a bracelet really increases the versatility of where you can use a watch
The moment I got my Hamilton murph there are so many cool strap and bracelet options in my mind, but right now I still stick around with the original as it is quite aging quite well for me :)
That's great to hear, I do like the strap a lot
@@WatchCrunchOfficial but I your title is just ring true to me... sometime its the little change (in this case strap/bracelet) that breath a new life into your old passion 😊
Hamilton is a strap monster and great value for money.
For sure!
You've killed thé vidéo AT thé end😂😂is it some sweat under those arm pit?😂😂😂😂
My thumbs were cramping so bad 😂
@@WatchCrunchOfficial you know i love your vidéos your Channel.... Frederic Paris France...long live watchcrunch...
A change in straps can do wonders....especially when you don't have enough to buy a new watch.
Exactly 💯
As a broke boy and actual enthusiast who wants watch’s prices to crater, amzwatch is a good choice.
Uncle Straps is sold out of Senators!
Great job. Totally agree. I do strap changes all the time. Does that mean I'm desperately trying to keep certain watches longer? I don't think so. I enjoy the occasional refresh and the "alter ego" of a watch's identity when paired with different straps/bracelets.. and, it's simply fun, too.
The new studio looks great. Show it off!
And sometimes a strap should not make sense but just like so good 😊
can someone please tell me where can i buy an after market premium high fkn quality oyster bracelet for Tudor 1926 41 mm????????!!!!!!?!?!!???!!??!?!?
Soooo should I go for the new expedition now or just the murph with an extra bracelet??? :D
Buy both and choose white dial for expedition😂
I love wearing watches on bracelets, but my dilemma is I think it takes away from the Interstellar connection when changing out the stock leather band
“Interstellar” is my favourite film of all time. As much as I love this watch, it is not a Murph. The Murph is 42mm, as it was in the film. I own both the 42mm and the 38mm, and much prefer to wear the smaller watch. It is a my most-worn field watch, despite its woeful lack of anti-reflective coating. I keep the 42mm because it is the Murph, which lives on display in my pub on the tesseract box alongside the Khaki Aviation Pilot Day Date Auto (a.k.a. The Coop), the box signed by Matthew McConaughey. Those are the Interstellar watches.
You do realize that historically many watchmakers have offered the same watch in different sizes? That doesn't make one or the other anymore worthy of the name. Regardless, Hamilton named the 38 and 42 the Murph and its really up to them how they want to name their watches.
@@Josue-411 Yes, you are correct. Hamilton get to decide what to name their watches, and the 38mm certainly is a great watch. Nonetheless, there will always be an original, offered as such, and the 38mm is not that watch. Each to their own... I am happy to own both.
I think a bonkilp would suit better than a milanese mesh due to the nature of the field watch.
Nice Sarb033 Max LoL 😂
I bought prx and afyer 6 months use, i wanted to buy a strap for it and it was 6k INR i bought that and later a month I bought BODERRY watch for same price 😂, it's cheaper to buy a watch than a band
A Murph should have a canvas (Archer).
Tour! Tour! Tour!
😃👍
I’m loving the shoutout to @minutemeg! 👏🏻
Great job on the vid, as usual.
She's great! 😃
I have a real SUB but I also bought one of these replicas from amzwatch for piece of mind if I go to another country or if I am doing activities that can damage the watch. I don't see anything wrong with that.
Gotta love a versatile strap monster like the Murph!
Hehe, you know it!
This bracelet release is a huge win for Murph owners. It really looks amazing on a bracelet. I have an Uncle Straps bracelet for one of my Alpinists, so I can vouch for them. You may not get a quick adjust clasp, but you'll get a solid bracelet overall. I also have one of their rubber straps for my King Turtle, and in fact just put it back on that watch.
Yeah and the price point is very reasonable 👍
omg thank you for this video, i’ve been finding ways to style my Murph because i find it bland sometimes on the leather strap it comes with it and other straps i have for it
It's a bit of a strap monster! Enjoy it 😊
@@WatchCrunchOfficial picked up a third party mesh bracelet today and i absolutely love it, still blessed for this video to appear!
Yes. Studio tour please.
On it!
the tudor upgrader should have been a seperate video 🏅🏅. those rivets 🙅♂️🙅♂️🙅♂️
That bracelet looks good. However I bought the uncle strap bracelet for the Hamilton Khaki Mechanical and, sadly, had to return it! Terrible hollow end links, horrible and stiff pressed clasp and the sand blasted finishing didn't match watch.
Oh interesting 🤔. Maybe an older design?
Uncles products are generally cheap the only exception is their rubber diver straps
leather and nato is not my preference, when it gets wet it takes time to dry up. rubber, bracelet, mesh, way more comfortable
I own a Uncle Seiko waffle strap and found it to be very low quality. Has made me skeptical of their products ever since.
Larry got a C &D from Seiko for using their name.
The Alpinist is what the Murph wants to be when it grows up.
The Uncle bracelet has made this watch a 10/10.
Thanks Uncle!
@@WatchCrunchOfficialabsolutely. Went into IWC today to try and eventually look to buy the Mark XX White (Bracelet) on. The Associate was blown away at how good the Murph looked on the bracelet.
its a shame he had to put "uncle" on the clasp.. really kills it for me. the "U" logo was fine
The oyster bracelet already sold out 💀💀💀
restock soon
Hah, I thought I recognized the bracelet from Minutemeg's post. 🍻
She's on top of it!
If only Hamilton would do it factory because i don't do aftermarket straps, inshallah
True story: changing the strap changes the watch.
💯
lost me at no AR
Yeah it's bad
Rolex has no AR either
cooo👌
Bracelets and straps ranked:

Leather - two piece, bund.

That's a pretty good list!
@@WatchCrunchOfficial 😂
NATO
Never liked NATO straps as I'm not a gorilla or can stand all that extra strap tucked away which looks a mess. A nice thicker ZULU is much better and neater.
I respect the heritage, but Hamilton's always look and feel so cheap to me. The lack of A/R coating is a joke
As a Swatch Group employee, I fully agree. Not worth it.
Just a funny experience but I remember the first time I saw the Hamilton khaki field in a shop, I thought it was a cardboard cutout of the watch. The watch looks so 2D or flat when you looks straight at it.
I urge you to look at the coop watch. Day date aviation king something.
That one really convinced me of the brand. Great finishing, depth and wearability.
@@anotherherodied I owned a King Khaki Field for two days and returned it because it was illegible in most lighting conditions.
