Just got back from Taiwan (3rd time in 2024!) and I’m still in love with this amazing country! Glad to see you are enjoying Taiwan in a different way too. Like you said - it’s totally a underrated country and people are just so warm there.
I have to say that it’s not so popular of hitchhiking in Taiwan but I believe that’s your way to find out this island, hope both you have a good trip at here.
I am a Taiwanese living in Taiwan for more than 30 years and have been to each islands around Taiwan and more than 30 mountains. However, I still feel like there are more I can explore! It’s unbelievable that there are so many things to do and spots to visit on such a small island.
Your video are really high quality and the voice you tell the journey story I really like it. So peaceful and comfortable ❤. thank you for sharing Taiwan of beauty with everyone ( It’s my honor and hope you guys have a wonderful journey in Taiwan)
When I was around 10 (well, 30 years ago), I travel to Alishan for a week with my aunt and cousins! We also did hitchhiking back that time everyday, brought back so many memories ❤
Welcome to Taiwan! I’ve watched your video after you arrived here, and I’m truly touched by how you see our country and this beautiful land with such a kind and open heart. It really means a lot to me.
I've enjoyed watching your very well made videos in Taiwan. In this episode, I think the place you stayed is 石槕, pronounced as Shi Zhuo, and like Xi Ding 隙頂, maybe a dozen kilometers down, it is known for the many tea plantations along the Alishan Highway. Much of Taiwan's premium Alishan tea comes from these two places, which are often shrouded in fog, especially in the afternoon, giving much needed moisture to the tea plants there.
Hi Flora, congratulations on reaching 70k subscribers! Your incredible adventures and inspiring content have captivated so many of us, and it’s only the beginning. I have no doubt that you’ll hit 1 million subscribers soon-you truly deserve it! Keep exploring, inspiring, and sharing your journey with the world. Wishing you endless success and more exciting milestones ahead! ❤️ from Indonesia.
I strongly suggest that you should write the places (or direction) you want to go in a board that may be easier for you to hitchhiking in taiwan beacause most taiwanese don't familier with the idea of hitchhiking (including me until watching your video) plus that many of the taiwanese are shy and not very good at communicate with foreigner because of that many people may not know what raise the thumb and standing by the road mean "hitchhiking" so by writing on something to tell people where ofr which direction you want to go I think may dramatically increase the successful chance of hitchhiking in taiwan and reduce the wasting time
It seemed you skipped Tainan, which is the oldest city in Taiwan and the foodie capital for many of us. Maybe you can try to explore Tainan next time. The view in eastern Taiwan, such as East Longitudinal Valley, Pacific coastline, is breathtaking. Hope you enjoy your time there.❤
Woah! At 11:15, the grandpa was trying to hand over NTD 1,000 (about USD 33). idk the story behind it, but the pocket money from the elderly means love and care in Taiwanese culture! :D
Ahh Shizhao! Gotta say I enjoyed it more there than Alishan. The first day I hiked in similar conditions to what you had -- super misty and magical. The next day the weather cleared and it was like one of the most beautiful moments in my life. Glad you guys got to visit there :)
Tea plants typically grow in cloudy and misty regions, so living in a tea plantation means there's a higher chance of having cloudy weather. Making better use of Google Translate helps you communicate more effectively with Taiwanese people. I really appreciate your warm and insightful explanations. 👍
The transportation in the mountains is not convenient. So people grow a tendency or habit to help each other like offering a lift, especially for travellers.
Hi Flora I have seen your India vlogs it seems it was your very short trip. There are many must visit different places ,different cultures you can explore. Your vlogs are truly amazing ❤ ❤️ From India 🇮🇳
Hi Flora! Greetings from Sun Moon Lake! Cant beleive how different Alishan looks in nice weather 😂 just came from there, soaked and frozen, but similarly happy. When will we see you in Malaysia??
Australia wallaby chocolate! Thanks for making such an amazing video. I’m proud of being a Taiwanese though I’m in Australia atm. And sorry that we’re not good at taking hitchhikers…😅 I mean I would hesitate. I think I’d like to give hitchhikers a ride but I would make up my mind after passing by…it’s too late 😬
hitchhiking is definitely not popular in Taiwan, we just don't have that culture here . Most people driving through seeing you guys raise your hand may wonder==> ??? Do I Look Like Taxi Driver ? !! XDDDDD
I watched the previous episode and this one. There are some bad points. First, it makes no sense to try hitchhiking in a place where public transportation or taxis are available. But you start from there and move on. It feels like you are intentionally creating scenes that capture your hard journey. Second, when you get in someone else's car, if the passenger seat is empty, get in the passenger seat first. That is basic courtesy. You guys may seem very rude. I like and support your channel, so I couldn't help but write this long comment
Taiwan is a small island with a very dense population. People here don’t have the habit of hitchhiking. This may be uncomfortable for you travelers. I apologize.

It’s a shame that the weather was bad most of the time you traveled. I hope you will enjoy some more sunny days in the future.

Hi love your video so much! Which month did you go? Did you have lots of good weather your whole trip? :)
Greeting flora
Love, Best wishes,,
All the way from skardu Pakistan
Hi there! Best wishes to you too 🙏 hope it’s not too cold there right now!!
@floragoning The temperature is almost-15 to -20 also snow falling
Maybe next time you can consider to climb Yushan mountain, 3952 meters, the highest of East Asia.
We tried, but apparently you need hard-to-get permits for that one 😔 maybe next time!
Hi Flora🎉 happy to see you🎉. lots of love from Pakistan.stay blessed.
Nobody hitchhikes in Taiwan so many people probably have no idea what you are doing when you have your arms out and your thumbs up lol.
We noticed 😂 still though, in the end we made it!
They know from watching USA movies.
Hahaha honestly, the first thing I told Oskar when we got here was: ‘I could live here!’ 😅
@floragonning live you to live here
❤
💝💓💘❤️🔥💗💞💖
Brave lady love from Pakistan🇵🇰

Just a reminder: the train tracks are not for walking. You could be fined if caught.
th-cam.com/video/cAbK9_UxH4g/w-d-xo.html
@@zheng0509 Not entirely true. Some of the tracks are no longer in use and those are easy to tell.
Hey plz come to Pakistan islamabad please for me ❤love you so much 💓 😊
It's not legal to walk along the rail. Violators will be fined 50k ntd maximum.

Do it without cell phones.
