  • Many have asked about it and here it is! Check out Skydio’s main manufacturing facility and learn what goes into making a Skydio drone.
Here at Skydio we design, assemble, and support all of our products right here in the United States. Our manufacturing facility in Hayward, California boasts a 37,000 square-foot space and a team of over 100 operators, engineers, technicians, facilities, warehouse operators, planning, and production employees. Our team ensures that we have the current capacity to build and ship hundreds of drones, controllers, and docks to meet the demands of our customers.
The parts intake process is a crucial part of our quality standards and attention to detail. We receive hundreds of parts daily, and each one is carefully inspected for precision. Our operators use a variety of tools, sensors, and machines to assemble the products and to verify that our quality expectations are met.
We take pride in knowing that our drones are used for some of the most important jobs in the world. That's why we ensure that every component and sub-assembly passes its own quality control tests. This allows us to have full traceability of every component into every drone and enables us to track any performance or quality issue back to the individual component.
After assembly each drone undergoes a detailed visual inspection, calibration for proper autonomy functionality, camera performance, and a burn-in process to test for motor, electrical, and system performance. Once the complete drone is tested, our team loads the software onto the drone before shipping.
Our ultimate goal is to deliver a top-performing product that is performance-ready to our customers around the world. We believe that with the right people and tools and dedication to customer success, we can make the best Skydio products possible.

Have you made advances on the AI side or is that largely static? and have you considered a winged platform? and have you considered the delivery drone market?

The factory looks antiquated compared to DJI's. Skydio assembles drones by hand while DJI uses robots and advanced manufacturing lines.
No wonder Skydio cannot compete on price and quality with DJI.

sure they are built in the US but where is the hardware built? hmmmm thats more important than anything..... The moment its turned on it can be routed to a foreign country if it has malicious soc or bios config and hardware.

I have a Skydio 2 Pro kit with the replacement program. I'm still a customer and since I am grandfathered in with my original purpose I'll have access to what I need in the future from Skydio. Not completely sure but I believe they have an offering for Business and Enterprise customers as well.
