Egg learning the power of runic pyramid was pretty sick being able to construct an insane combo/synergy in hand is really strong. Shame he didnt really notice the crazy echo form -> void -> multicast combo and even yeeted it with purity lol.
Yea and honestly he inspired me to get back into the game. I did beat it on A20 for the first three classes but always felt like I was limiting myself, and this video convinced me to relearn some of the habits I have built!
Runic Pyramid is easily one of the best relics in the game. It makes it way more likely that you'll have the card you need when you need it. Like a block card is not helpful when the enemy is buffing itself, but it might be very helpful the next turn when it does a big attack. Even better with situational cards like Double Energy.

Love that you're bringing back StS (even though im a relatively new viewer). That being said my piece of advice is you undervalue card draw and blindly value just energy. A mix of the two is what truly pops off. I've noticed you really often end up with spare energy at the end of turns and i wonder if that doesnt somehow bother you a little. For example, taking double energy and upgrading it with the excuse of affording echo form even though you had nuclear battery (and it's likely you'd be able to destroy the plasma as you draw the echo form) and then picking up turbo was very much overkill. Im sure you'll find your ways back though :)

Great run NL. StS is a blast. Only because you're open to it, I'm gonna be a little type 2 here: One thing to watch for is how you can chain turbo -> Multi-cast on a good dark orb. Even better is Turbo -> Double Energy -> Multicast. Admittedly it's probably overkill for normal fights, but with runic pyramid it's quite easy to get these combos. Also, as a runic pyramid lover, the core strength of it is not to be able to save single cards, but it makes it vastly easier to hit card combos and synergies.
Loving these videos! I’ve recently gone back to Slay The Spire myself and am slowly climbing the ascension levels. Really helpful to see your thought processes!
Hey NL my humble suggestion for defect is to give heavy respect to focus and how even one upgraded defrag can multiply how powerful your orbs are. Early defrag upgrade is very valuable usually because it also doubles the output of the card. Your boss relic picks were also pogged this run
I have been watching through all the old slay the spire videos, and you would not believe how pogged I was that I saw a NEW video show up for slay the spire.
I have played a bunch of this game but watching one of the people that know this game inside and out there is so much going on. Watching NL play is still the best.
The growth of taking runic pyramid, pretty pog. Probably want to think about stuff a little slower like you said. One tip for your deck building, and I think you noticed it with buying the Turbo, if you dont have draw yet, you definitely didn't want it. Your hand will be 5 cards and 1 will be turbo so you'll already have the energy to play your cards unless you happen to draw turbo and like echo form together. Runic pyramid can kind of be thought of as draw 2-3 extra cards per turn for free, which would be huge alone, on top of the benefit of holding situational cards for the right moment.
We appreciate you branching out NL and trying different strategies, taking different relics etc. If doing so doesn't work out at later ascension levels, just remember we are here for the journey, not the destination. Keep being awesome NL.
Hey NL, just one tip for ya. Don't underestimate the fourth starting option to swap you starting relic with a boss relic. In a majority of cases it is a big upgrade e.g. consider 4 energy vs 2 draw on the first turn (for the silent). Even some of the weaker ones like astrolabe (transform and upgrade 3) can really multiply your deck's strength which in turn will allow you to get many relics from elites. There are some bad ones to start with like tiny house and empty birdcage but overall you can expect it to be worth it.

Just vocalizing my support for it and a request to flag it with some sort of identifier in the thumbnail. Here's to 1 billion subscribers.

Dark orb runs are arguably the biggest pog build in all of STS
I don't think so, maybe for Defect, but I think there are so many other cooler synergies on other characters
