Hey man, if you're in Valparaíso and can access the ocean, I'd recommend checking out the city's port. The beaches are in that direction, and the port area is the most iconic and beautiful part of the city. Plus, don't miss the viewpoints on the hills (Cerro Alegre is the most touristy). Saludos
no, I had a short walk, got several recommendations to hide my camera and the city looked dangerous, so I decided to leave :) In Viña del Mar I felt much safer. Interesting how different municipalities can feel so much different
I had discussion with people from santiago online that absolutely shocked me.Like seriously? These are people from santiago who always lived there but never had the $8 for bus ticket to valparaiso!! Imagine all your life you could never afford 8$ for a 1,5 hr round trip bus tour in your own country. Wow. But a very nice place to see, great video!!
i think that the reason here is that very often locals do not travel to other cities :) it's a common behavior for many different nationalities :D not everyone likes to travel even if it takes 2 hours on a bus :)
I'm sorry that you had such a rush time in Valparaíso, altough i agree with a lot of what you said about the city being dirty and unsafe you only visit the "El plan" which is the flat area of the city, and it's honestly not that interesting. You missed the most tourist places that are Cerro alegre, Cerro Concepción, Cerro Bellavista, Cerro Cárcel they definitly feel safer than the Plan. Also even tho is true that Valparaíso doesn't have a direct access to sea you have the waterfront "La costanera" all the way from Muelle Barón to Caleta Portales. Hope you visit us the next time :)

thanks for the advice, next time will visit those points :)
Viña del Mar is part of Valparaiso City, just another municipality. Did you have time to visit any hill in Valparaiso?
