I'm always blown away by how, after being in the hobby for so long, Valrak only knows about yellow space marine lore.

I can't believe they "forgot" to make Karandras. Like the day came, all the molds got made, and someone was like "where's Karandras?". Dude slaps his forehead "Mate! I FORGOT to make Karandras! Oh well, he's gonna be a while. Maybe 11th. Definitely by 12th."
They didn't forget. They're just drip feeding these model updates and releases like they always have. They gotta keep you perpetually engaged with their products. It's always intentional with GW.
The fact we're getting a brand new pheonix lord before a plastic Karandris burries me in immeasurable salt.
Valrak, when are we getting a model for Guilliman's suspiciously tall & slender son?
I wouldn't get your hopes up for him sticking around. Aside from having silly rules in 10th that led to him briefly showing up everywhere (and showing up everywhere didn't save Longstrike) he's a pretty obscure character, and basically every resin kits needs redoing more. I expect him to be dropped, just as the still-resin Tau characters were, especially as he isn't currently on sale.

In a way, yes, the return of a Phoenix Lord, lore wise, is like a Primarch coming back. The Phoenix Lords were the founders of each Aspect , kinda of like how each Primarch was the "founder", in this case through their Gene Seed, of their Legion.
I will be clear for those that know nothing about Eldar, the Phoenix Lords are NOT the same Eldar that first took up their names and armor . When a Eldar wears the armor their body is taken over by the first one, the original Phoenix Lord , who wore it. Not sure if the lore has been retconned , but that's what I remember.
Maugan Ra is in his original body because he is a badass
Not every PL though, I believe some Phoenix Lords like Baharrot is still in the original body and haven't died/reborn even once.

@@BloodyArchangelus Like I said, was not sure if retconned, which it seems it has been. I remember that the Phoenix Lords had died many times, and the prophesized final war between the Eldar and Chaos, the Rhana Dandra, they will die their final death. Can not remember, but in the 2nd edition codex either Baharroth or Fuegan are meant to be the last to fall. So if this has been retconned, sorry, but I did cover my arse on this.
According to Warhammer TV Loremasters OP is right and Jain Zar has been reincarnated and also Asurmen so this is definitely a thing. There could be exceptions like Maugan Ra
Pheonix Lords aren't quite the same as Primarchs but would be the Eldar equivalent. While Primarchs each have a chapter created from them Each Pheonix Lord has a Temple devoted to them. Every time a Pheonix Lord dies somebody else from the temple dons the armour & joins with the spirits of the Lord & previous wearers of the armour becoming a new version of the original. Thus continuing the existence of the Pheonix Lord in question. At least this used to be the lore, not really up to date due to being out of the hobby for 15 years until recently.
Your more or less correct, the only real alteration made since then is that the Phoenix Lords have supernatural powers due to being essentially spirit golems.
The chapter master leaks when he’s ready to leak. Not before. Not after. But precisely when he means to.
I think an Eldar vs new Emperors Children models would be awesome and make sense
Asurmen and Fulgrim also work as enemies in a big box set, The Phoenix and the Phoenician.
I’m looking forward to new plastic models. I started to build Eldar in 9th edition but I don’t want to buy any of the OLD models so they have been in limbo since then waiting for the new plastics.
Nightspear deserves a remake, and he can stand as a pseudo-Pheonix Lord for the Outcasts

As an Eldar fan, the WE are the only other army I've considered collecting. Such a different style, and so mental. Can't have Slaanesh of course, Tzeenzch is a weirdo and Nurgle is a slob. Khorne is the bad guy for me!
Kill team will be a new edition around sep/oct. The current season feels very much like a three box series (termination is the name of the third box and we already know the models for that). Feel like the swooping hawks rumour you’ve got fits into next edition timeline rather that this one, as the three year cycle of the edition is nearly up (octarius was released in August/September 2021)

New Phoenix Lord could be Drastanta, Lord of the Shining Spears. He was mentioned by name in the Ynnari Novel with Saim Han.

phoenix lords aint primarch level... more chapter master.
they are the first of their shrine/aspect, when the eldar inside the suit dies they are absorbed into the spirit stone and the new wearer becomes one with the suit.
fuegan should be the last phoenix, since he is the last to die in the rhana dhandra (eldar Ragnarok)
Phoenix lord feats are all over the place, they are primarchs in their importance to the factions they lead.
Jain Zar is the OG banshee, all other banshees are aping her style, same with Maugan Ra and the Reapers and do on, Kharandas is the only exception here as he had to reinvent the scorpions after Ahra lost it and became Drazhar.
Asurmen is the original Phoenix lord, his name means "Hand Of Asuryan" and he's pretty heavily implied to have been blessed with the last of the dead gods power.
He taught all the other Phoenix lords how to fight and invented the Eldar path system, he discovered how to use Soul Stones, he's honestly the biggest reason why the Craftworld eldar still exist 10k years after the fall.
Narratively GW could make him a primarch tier fighter if they wanted to but he's far more important historically to the eldar than any primarch except Horus is to the imperium.

Seeing the model doesn't mean it's in prerelease stuff. Auspex could have seen an unpainted photo, which would narrow his informant down tremendously, and also could still put it well into a 2025 release.
I mean Phoenix lords are basically Primearchs they are what aspect warriors are based off of same way the space wolves are based if Russ. But they are space marines so the don’t get the same treatment and rhey come back to life so they are good for showing off how powerful something else is like the avatar of Khaine or Angron.
Man Karandras is probably my favourite phoenix lord and I’m so salty that for no good reason he’s the only one not coming out with his aspect warriors

If they really did forget about Karandras, then while a bit disappointing, it is also absolutely hilarious. And also a great opportunity to mention that ArtelW has a fantastic looking proxy of him for those who can't wait to replace that finecast monstrosity that is the current official model.

I like the idea of the flying kill team units, but it would be so much more straight forward to use Elysian drop troops. Scions use taurox or valkyries!
I know the rumor is that KT this edition has been mandated by GW to be pushed through due to being surprised by its success but I really don't see a Flyers Vs box when they just had to nerf the full flying team in the latest Dataslate. Fly is such a powerful keyword in that game with how terrain works and the idea that they'd drop 2 teams both with fly built in across the entire team seems odd. I want more aspect warriors but this rumor has always been a weird one to me that feels like it's coming from people that don't play the game and are wishlisting models. I'd be happy to be wrong and happier if those teams were actually balanced if they did come out but I'm so iffy on it.

If only the Aspect warrior kits weren't so bloody expensive, I'd already be happy with just the Banshees and Reapers. But the more the merrier, and Asurmen definitely needs to happen.
Also, given that GW are releasing editions every 3 years it would not hurt to cycle between the the three iconic races of 40K; Marines, Eldar and Orks, instead of being marines every time.

It sounded as though Auspex had seen an image of an army box, in which Asurmen seems to be the only new model. He was taking that to imply that Asurmen may be the only new model (and it would be odd for him to be packaged with old Avengers if they're getting redone), however now we know that an army may get more than one army box per army all bets are off on what that implies.
I really don't imagine they forgot to make Karandras. I expect, in line with Tau, they'll redo every resin special character who isn't getting ditched - which means Karandras, Fuegan and Baharroth as well as Asurmen. Ilic Nightspear will probably be retired, and possibly Yriel (Yriel does have a story presence, but they could kill him off - either really or do a Yarrick and pronounce him dead but no one's seen the body, ready to be brought back in future). Fuegan and Baharroth would naturally come with their Aspects. So all of this is in line with what I expect anyway.
There are other kits in need of a refresh, but this deals with all but one of the remaining resin kits (the other, the bike Autarch, might just be dropped). The plastic vehicles date to 2nd Ed. and it shows, especially as the crew and weapon designs have changed significantly in the interim.
New units for bolter fire. 🎉
The Elder desperately need new models and some more love. Phoenix Lords are easy to understand. The suits have the personality and memories of the original wearer. If an Eldar puts it on, the suit absorbs their knowledge and the Lord takes over their body, so they can live again. The armor also self-repairs, so it can't be destroyed. Thus the Phoenix Lords are eternal.
Hope the 5 people who play eldar get to wait 8 years for their rumored new models like some of us
Any rumors about a Drukhari range refresh ? A good chunk of the army is unavailable on GW's store as it is still in resin.
Good guess looking at GW production cycle is Drukhari refresh will start either in this or next edition.
their going to give in to our lore and make us suffer... i suspect we might get something when we get our codex, maybe a box with us and white scars, or alternatively when the EC get theirs. those two factions make the most sense to pair us with narrative and lore wise.
we dont really have any rival factions, more or less people we f-- with.
the other side is if the craftworlders are getting this many models and some lore love, we might see a lot more of whats going on with the yannari and all that stuff with the next edition which might push us further down the line.
honestly im a little worried they are going to hatchet job the faction trying to make all that yannari stuff work and we will end up losing all the eldar factions in to aeldari soup. right now our range is looking closer in size to the harlequinns than a full army and i worry we might end up with the same fate, just being a subfaction tagged on to the aeldari book as an after thought

If you noticed, those who get just a character in this edition already got either two waves in previous editions or a recent plastic army like GSC or Custodes from 7th edition. Eldar are continuing their range refresh from 9th edition, similar to Astra Militarum or Votann.

If theyre going to do a Scions upgrade sprue (which sounds like the plan, unfortunately One new team, then one old team, with new upgrades) , maybe they can throw in an additional pose for the plasma gunner? At the very least. If Imperial guard is gonna be stuck with the heroic scale chunky boys who just look obese compared to their cohorts, at least give em new plasma gunner arms.
A common problem with the kit is you can have more than one plasma gunner in the squad, but the one and only plasma gun pose is the fella holding it so close to his arm and upward towards the sky you might as well sculpt a new pose from scratch. By the time you seperate that gun from his arm, literally half the gun and arm is shaved away and resculpted. Its not impossible, but about as close to "unkitbashable" as it gets. 2 poses with the plasma gun included look completely identical matter what. Who wants a bunch of doods all holding their guns above their head?
Are we just supposed to ignore you saying vacation instead of holiday?
