Thanks for sharing that beautiful piece of music with us. I loved your reaction and your pride and passion for the people of the United Kingdom 🇬🇧. You are what we would call in the UK a Gentleman and jolly nice chap. Many thanks from the UK 🇬🇧.
As a Plymouth lad and ex Dockyardy apprentice, I just happened upon this and thoroughly enjoyed it to the point of a few tears rolling down my cheeks. I am extremely patriotic and proud of my country and what it has given to the world. That was a beautiful faultless performance . It will remain in my watch later for a long time.
1:28 Speaking as a former Royal Marine (1966 - 1990), thank you for the respect - and your silence - you showed during the playing of the Glaiator theme. It was very much appreciated by this 76 year old Bootneck! Watching and listening to the band and the young female musician/vocalist, sent shivers down my spine. Each and every one of them are exceptonal musicians in their own right...........🇬🇧 ⚓️⚓️ 👍🏻 !!! "PER MARE PER TERRAM" ****************************
Our Band of the Royal Marines give chills whenever they play. To play and march at the same time is an exeptional skill. They are second to none and top class
This is soo beautiful I every way, I’m close to tears and her voice is wonderful. We are blessed with so many wonderful bands, orchestras and choirs on these islands of ours.
Thank you McJibbin for your reaction/non reaction. I was the executive producer for this show and also arranged the music that you have just listened to. I’m glad you enjoyed the performance.
Thank you @ivanhutchinsonmusic9464 - what a stunning arrangement by you and a perfect performance from the massed bands and that wonderful singer. The RM bands are amazing and I've become addicted to their videos/performances. Sadly, as an elderly Australian woman I'll never get a chance to see them performing in person but I'm enjoying going through the videos on the Royal Marines Band YT channel. The Mountbatten videos also highlight the fun involved in some amazing performances (thinking of the 4 Hornsmen of the Apocalypse, etc.).
Greetings from the United Kingdom. You did do a reaction, albeit a silent one. You let the musicians and the music speak, both of which were excellent. I liked the fact you didn't interrupt, you just sat there and enjoyed the performance. That's the best reaction anyone could hope for. Thank you for sharing the video with us.
How could you ever stop the video and 'react' to this? It was too beautiful to interrupt. We all went on the same emotional ride with you. God bless UK and USA.
Spent an afternoon in St James Park outside Buckingham Palace in a deck chair glass of champagne listening to a military band in the bandstand, perfection ❤
My son's school clarinet teacher was an ex bandsman in the British military. They are all excellent musicians, worthy of any orchestra in the world, but also fully trained soldiers, who fight in conflicts (did you spot the medals ?). My son's teacher was mainly a woodwind teacher, who taught all woodwind instruments, but he could also play any brass instrument. He explained that he had to learn them all, because not all bandsmen returned from duty and you never knew who you'd have to stand in for. In terms of not reacting; when you were listening to her sing, your expression looked like you were falling in love. I think that's reaction enough. 😍
Sobering thought, the realisation why he had to learn all instruments. As civilians we don't necessarily think of that. Quite scary, but God Bless the military. Tough job.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I’m going to see the Royal Marines perform at Horse Guards parade this evening. This video has totally set me up for what an incredible evening it is sure to be!
Alas, British public tax payers money invested well! They're a National Treasure! Well done to H.M. Royal Marines for their hard work and dedication to this Great Nation
Thankyou for not stopping and starting the video. You let it play you held respect and gave an honest reaction by saying it was beautiful. Love our Marines they make me feel so proud !!!
I could see by the pleasure on your face how much you enjoyed that and so did I. Thank you for posting it for us all to enjoy and be very proud of our Royal Marines Band.
McJibbin, the reaction was in your face, and that was all that was required. I always respect your modesty and the intelligent comments that you offer. Cheers. Sheffield South Yorkshire
I find the Band of the Royal Marines even more mesmerising now - if that is possible! - as when I fist saw them live, over 40 years ago, in the Caves in the Rock of Gibraltar.
I had the pleasure of being associated with The Royal Marines for twenty years and I love each and every one. Please write to your new MP and demand that we reach 3% of GDP on Defence. Otherwise these fantastic bands will be further cut.
Absolutely amazing!! Epic music at Beating Retreat on Horseguards parade!! Wherever the bands of His Majesty's Royal Marines perform regardless of whether it is inside the royal Albert hall at the Mountbatten Festival of Music, at any other theatres or out in the open, it is an epic spectacle to watch and listen to
The auditions for places as a military band recruit are as tough, if not harder, than those for the Conservatoires (RCM, RAM, RNCM, etc) and all bandsmen and women must have Diploma standard in TWO instruments, minimum.
Sometimes words are not necessary. In fact by not interrupting during the performance in itself spoke volumes. Enjoy the rest if your weekend. .... England just made it through (by the skin of their teeth) to the European Cup semi finals ❤
wow...thanks for sharing that Conor. I love Hans Zimmer and that was so beautifully orchestrated and choreographed; it is a long piece and must have taken so long to learn and rehearse. I appreciate your choice and variety of things to watch with us 😊👍
Absolutely stunning! Wonderfully talented musicians, looking fantastic in their immaculate uniforms and performing in a great setting. Thanks for sharing this Connor!
So glad you decided to react to this. I love the British military bands. Esp the RM. When the 5 guards band are enmass they too sound brilliant, when returning from Trooping the Colour this year all the Irish tunes were great as tribute to the Irish guards whose colour was trooped. If anyone is ever down just watch the short Micks march video 😊
Wow that was so unexpected.. I love reaction videos and your channel with this performance just popped up in my feed. What a wonderful way to start the day. To see them follow through with march formation to boot and not put a note or foot wrong was amazing. Subscribing right now ❤😊
Conner every year the RM band perform a charity concert for veteran Marines and Navy and their families at the Albert Hall the full concerts are on their YT channel. They play a variety of music genres check them out
The RM band now have a 24/7 music video channel on YT in addition to being able to view the full concerts - started just over a week ago. I now have that playing in the background when working on my computer.
I was so stunned too I just stopped thinking and entered the moment of this incredible creation. Definitely following you now McJibbin. Always keep it real and authentic.
I was thinking that, and I don't blame him, and I don't say that about most soldiers , certainly has something about her beautiful voice eyes and strength and emotion
Hannah Smither (the vocalist) has quite a pair of lungs on her, eh. Her, Kirsty Haines and Sam McIndoe are the powerhouses behind the Royal Marines' Band vocals.
Live music is wonderful and these soldiers are the creme de la creme. As well as being the top quality soldiers they have to be able to play at least two instruments to a very high standard. Was she singing in Latin?
To answer your question, the vocals in the film Gladiator were predominantly/if not entirely the work of a rather curious Australian female vocal artist called Lisa Gerrard. She is known for making up her own 'gibberish' languages. It is often assumed the female vocalist parts of the musical score in Gladiator (2000) are Latin; not so. The sounds made are perhaps inspired by the sound of Latin, but it is actually not a real language. Or at least, it's a language which Lisa Gerrard made up. She does this a lot. There is a form of music based on the human voice without feeling the need to adhere to a specific language. Another example of Lisa Gerrard doing this, is in the interesting film, 'The Mist' (2008), in the haunting and powerful musical piece called, 'The Host of Seraphim'. It _sounds_ broadly Levantine or perhaps Greco-Turkic. But in reality, it's just made up sounds (words are just that, set to a codex of codified meanings to those arrangements of letters and phonetics) It's quite impressive how she can do this for a range of world music, blending things together. It can often catch people out. I've seen/heard plenty of folks over the years swear blind that the music in Gladiator is Latin, and I myself thought that The Host of Seraphim was highly accented Hebrew. But I was wrong. When I first watched the film, 'The Mist' (just earlier this year in 2024; after years of hearing good things about it) I didn't initially realise it was Lisa Gerrard singing. I was blindsided a bit. I was trying to figure out what the language was just by ear and I couldn't pinpoint it. That should have reminded me of Lisa Gerrard but I was enjoying the film so much that I didn't join the dots at first. After looking up the song because of how beautiful and haunting it was, I think realised it was Lisa Gerrard and I was kicking myself. It all made sense at that point. So, there is your answer. Lisa Gerrard, singing the most beautiful gibberish you've ever heard. The Royal Marines Band have rendered it beautifully as well.
Without taking anything away by the incredible quality of the performance by HM Royal Marines the one thing I noticed was how much of parts of the Gladiator theme sounded in parts like Mars from the Planet Suite by Holst... 🤔
The Royal Marines train militarily but also as musicians....must play a minimum of two instruments and possibly voice also. With that amount of music they can play absolutely everything.
One of the best songs tbh from a film for me, would of been great if they could of incorporated the household cavalry into the performance as the first time you hear the song its part of a cavalry charge but tbh I dont see how they could have.
Yes, you’re quite right as it would have required some inter-military cooperation as HM Royal Marines are Royal Navy and the Household Cavalry are Army 😊

Magnificent…they did Hans Zimmer proud. Your arrangement was perfect for this outstanding military band. Only the very best.
Hi Ivan, Hope you are enjoying your retirement. Miss you much!!!

You are so empathetic and genuine. Hats off to you and thank you for your wonderful reaction.

That was your best reaction to date. Sometimes saying less is saying more.

Thank you from the UK ❤ your respect and enjoyment was written all over your face

A flawless performance by the magnificent Royal Marines. The icing on the cake was the female soloist - so moving.
This Gladiator song is something else. I can play this song all day long.
WELL THAT WAS JUST FANTASTIC SUPER TO THE EXTREME , THANK YOU CONNER FOR SHOWING THIS 👏👏👏👏👌👌🤣👌👌👏👏🤷♀️
Thanks for sharing I’m proud to be British
And these are fighting solders as well.
To some tune too.
Bandsmen usually take on the roll as medics during military operations or war.
They are recruited as Musicians, they spend most of their time doing that.
@@nicolad8822 The clue is in your comment “ most “.

Beautiful reaction from you Connor🎉
