That Kalia deck has legs! Seemed like Pyro always had the exact answer when needed. Great game, and obviously refreshing to see the rare non-combo win in cEDH.
Yeah, with how little draw he showed off, it was surprising he kept having not only things to smack down with Kaalia but answers to deal with others. It seems pretty high rolly but produced a really great game here.
@@jaydub5515 I know what they are saying. Playing with Power responded to a comment saying "majority of people don't stay for the recap; they tuned out as soon as the game ends". I initially went into this video thinking “I’m not sure how well Kaalia can do in cEDH.” Apparently it can do really well in cEDH! Sick deck, clutch plays and an amazing final turn, great job Pyro!
I’d like to see more games with kaalia to see how consistent it really is, and how well it can actually filter and get the pieces needed to win across consecutive games. Feels like it was just sort of the nut draws this game
Well he has lightning greaves which is kinda the best card to protect and as a haste source. Normally it won’t survive more than a turn in our play group
A lot of it was due to the other players basically ignoring him. Also, it looks like all of the other decks in the pod are incredibly light on creature removal, which isn’t uncommon but it is very favorable for a Kalisz deck. I’d like to see a few more games where the deck isn’t completely ignored for half the game to see how it fares.
The production quality on these videos is honestly amazing, everything is so easily visible and nice to look at. I just miss the inperson videos, it feels like the webcam quality can't quite stand up, I hope they come back once the pandemic is truly over, love your work guys :)
I appreciate the narration. I love (c)EDH content but being able to get full information with headphones only really makes me able to enjoy this while multi tasking
They both agreed it was the best and needs more interaction, but it is a cornerstone of CEDH, why they're encourage not to play it, it will probably be in any deck that runs blue because those decks naturally run it like Rstudies and hull breacher. They didn't ban it and won't ban it unless the card gets officially banned
@@zackcampbell1346 Not every blue deck runs Thoracle. Sans-black blue decks don't always run it, unless they have some way to cheek it out, ala GAAIV Thought Lash/Futuresight lines.

This was spicy! loved the game. Keep it up and great to hear that we are getting the end game recaps next time!! As a side note, I'd looove to see Alela stax again in a table.
Couldn't Pyro casts Angel's Grace right after Ryan's Consultation has been named and resolved, and exiled entire library, and right before Oracle's ability resolved?
He could have; I immediately thought the same thing. Might have been a misplay, or maybe he wanted to keep Ryan around a little longer to keep Mike busy.
8:40 I don't think that Mike should get an illusion here. Apparition is controlled by Adam, and so is its trigger. If Adam leaves the game, trigger cannot resolve. If it was something with oneshot effect, like Banishing Light, then it would work.
at 5:35, I'm surprised Pyro didn't make Gilded Drake swap for Sisay. Since Ryan's deck isn't built to abuse it (being 1 short of making WUBRG at the time) it seemed like a good way to hobble Mike. Sure wasn't expecting Subjugator Angel in a PwP video, though.
Does Skyclave Apparition trigger if it's controller leaves the game? I've never been clear on effects like that interacting with a person dying/conceding/heading out to get dinner
No. When a player leaves the game, control effects end, but nothing triggers. (Well, technically they do; however, all objects on the stack owned or controlled by the player leaving the game are exiled anyway, so the triggers don't matter.) So, if someone played a Blatant Thievery and loses the game, all permanents they stole will go back to their former controllers (because the control effect created by the card ends); they are not exiled. But that's about the only thing that does happen when a player leaves the game.
DANG it is good to see games with some fresh decks! Felt like cedh was just becoming Oracle Consultation wins all day every day. With the occasional breach combo but those dont seem to even happen that often. Some recent vids have definitely proven you dont NEED to oracle combo every time. PHEW I was getting worried about the format becoming extremely stale.
And angel's grace! I think all white decks should be running that. Just let the consultation fully resolve and exile their library THEN angel's grace before the oracle trigger resolves. THATS SO SICK
@@munckee1 Yeah, every deck that runs white should have a copy of angel's grace and with the amount of Thoracles and Docksides in the format I have no idea why Torpor Orb like stax aren't more common or even a few spells like Tale's End that stop abilities and spells. I run those and they always do work.
at 8:45 mike shouldnt get a spirit token from the apparition, as it doesnt leave the battlefield but instead stops existing, you only get your stuff back when it's written as a single line of text rather than 2 with apparition and oblivion ring.
Am I miscounting is did the whole table forget about Gesela's damage prevention trigger? Unless I'm mistaken, that crackback should have only been five damage, not 13.
The play to give the spirit with deflecting swat was really cool. My question is should it have instead attempted to switch drake and sissay to remove that tool from Mike?
8:40 Apparition shouldnt create a illusion AFAIK, since it is exiled when adam dies, and trigger does not happen cause it also belongs to the (now dead) adam.
Why not Angel's Grace after demonic consultation exiles Ryans library before oracle's ability resolves. That way he doesnt have a chance to look for Dockside?

Ryan: I'm gonna do what's called a pro gamer move.
He mistimed his Angel's Grace. If he waited to Demonic Consultation to resolve, the opponent would have no library and a loss to himself in waiting.

Mana Crypt and dual lands and being played in a pod where everyone ignores you lmao. Anything can be cEDH if you run fast mana, I guess.
