The art style of this game is already reminding me of Clock Tower, and I'm always eager for more Pixelated Point-and-Click horror games. I don't know why, but the low-res art style typed horror games always makes me more anxious than the likes of, say, Resident Evil 7 and The Evil Within 2.
Low fidelity horror is more effective because the horrors aren't clearly defined due to their low fidelity, which leaves your mind filling in the blanks and imagining things. Basically fear of the unknown, in a strange way.
Point and Click horror games l'm always eager for more Pixelated remindings me of (Cock Tower, and) The art style of this game is already is erers anders in of cure things Eggs
Math is anything but exciting, it's uncreative, repetitive and poorly taught, especially by the horrible school systems now, not to mention higher levels of Math do not have much use outside of schools. The basics are fine and everyone should know it but screw higher levels of Math, if my career literally does not require any Algebra or Calculus or other crap like that then why the hell should i have to take it, At least the game is pretty good though.
I think your confusing Math for Science, (Which are two completely different things) Math has nothing to do with understanding the universe as the universe is NOT made up of decimals or fractions nor can it quantified by numbers for that matter.
That math problem was a little harsh especially to people who may not be that great at math. I'm assuming if you would've picked "I hate math" or something then the puzzle would've been easier.
I love that teeth are used for "Bullets". It makes me sad though that the monsters lose their teeth from bumping their heads so much though. And that poor little girl, goodness.
28:42 john having war flashblacks 👀👀 of bad times. On a serious note, I am really proud that you managed to get through the puzzles. Keep up the good work John!!
The author of this game sure likes David Cronenberg's "Existenz". For anyonone that doesn't know, that movie haves a Flesh and bone gun that shoots teeth, and even made out of parts of a roasted chicken. This looks very fun and attractive, it takes cuts from good things: Sierra adventures style graphics and puzzles, 1996's Resident Evil combat style and Clock tower hiding moments. All of it very obvious but seems to work well together and still attractive formulas. The only thing I would critizice is the WAY too obvious modern horror trope of "It's all in your mind and you are reviving the griefs of your past". Pretty damn sure that little girl is her as a child and the strict teacher is her mother. For the rest looks like worth playing and great Let's play material.
Seems inspired by Existenz (where the scorn flesh gun drew inspiration too + Geiger) Since the flesh gun shooting teeth is directly taken from the film. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Existenz
I was just about to post this. When John said "flesh weapon", I immediately thought of eXistenZ, and then I saw that the ammo was teeth and I knew for sure the developer must have been specifically inspired by that movie. This game is pretty interesting, can't wait for the full game.
Is the painting of the turkey room, where you get the weapon, the cover of Burzum's "Aske"? Edit: Paying close attention, there's more references to black metal. The painting by the side of the clock is from Immortal's "Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism" and the song that plays when you get the clock time right is "Illa tiðandi", again from Burzum. That's what I was able to pick up from the video. There might be more. Great video, John.
This is... really quite interesting. Kind of weird and maybe lacking in some ways, but definitely interesting. It's nice to see some high-effort pixel art, too. It seems deliberately blurred just a little to contribute a sense of unease, but it's actual good quality game art, whereas I find most 2D indie games throw in a few lazy pixels and call it "retro".
Can someone explain 13:24? I can understand the square and pentagon having four and five sides respectively, but how does a circle and a half imply one and two? Feels more like guesswork than logic.
Well, this was interesting, congrats on being first at beating it! When I saw that gun and that its ammos are teeth I immediately thought of Shadows of the Damned which you played a million years ago on the channel, haha! BTW this is way out of topic, but are you ever going to finish Cuphead? Or did you finish it just not upload it? If you posted about it on Twitter or something, I might have missed the info, sorry! Anyway, it doesn't really matter, I'm just curious.
Oh okay, thanks! I don't always watch his streams so maybe that's what I've been missing so far. I'll watc anything he uploads anyway, I was just interested to know, thanks! :)
The beginning few minutes were very Clock Tower... And then it turned into shoot-em-up zombie action. Hopefully that changes with the full release - either way, great video. I'm surprised you were the only one to have beaten it on TH-cam...
You having Sinow over for checking that little math problem had me cracked up. Just imagine two full grown, well-educated men puzzling over it is just so funny XD Also did anyone else thought the title looks like "sorry" but the upper part of S is torn apart?
I honestly *Love* how John spares no character from his remarks. Lol all get the harsh sarcastic criticism of JohnWolfe. This the great game play I always look forward to.
The picture by the clock is the album cover for "Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism" by Immortal. The picture by the desk (with the word problem) is "Aske" by Burzum. Great albums, y'all should check them out.
Not to mention that the chapter names are both titles of songs off of Mayhem's "De Mysteriis Dom. Sathanas" album. I think another little reference is when you first exit that starting room and head into the hallway, and the protagonist mentions that "everything here is so cold"... nice little touches.
The greatest gaming conundrum of 2018, so far. All caused by a single fucking lemon. What a neat title, tho! Let's hope we see more of this, sometime soon.
Just saying who wants to solve a math word problem in a video game?! I was always terrible at math but that compounded with the fact you couldn’t even see the lemon I would have quit
Yeah, that's exactly why the adventure game genre died. The obtuse puzzles and pixel hunting reached a "Who actually wants to do this?" breaking point. It's too bad, I really like the style otherwise.
ok i LOVE this game so far. hate that math puzzle though, i always had issues with those problems because they add information you dont need in there and it's bullshit. i also dont like how jorry speaks, it's like shes an alien
Gobble GOBBLE fire. I love these neat point and click pixel games. Such fun. I get so much nostalgia watch, feels time. Thank you for the awesome uploads John.
I think that it is a mature game definitely because of the puzzles and not just because of the monsters. I will say that it is bold to try to incorporate very thoughtful, even agonizingly so, game play. I will say that there needs to be a gimmick element to spice it up. I think a little alchemy would work out in this game nicely and add a little sparkle to the gloom.
The gun and their bullets remind me of eXistenz (movie with Jude Law and Jennifer Jason Leigh). It HAS to be a reference. It's about a game designer as well, coincidentally.
y'know. i'd love to watch john play the chizo mytho's games (five days a stranger. trilbys notes. 7 days a skeptic. and 6 days a sacrifice) really great games and i recommend anyone who enjoys the point and click horror aspect....and no they aren't out of order. anyone who's played them will understand why
I swear they got that gun idea from the 90s movie eXistenZ. They build a gun out of this lizard carcass after they eat the lizard and then the main character pulls a dental bridge with teeth out of his mouth and load the gun like it was a clip. Good movie. Go watch
Hey John, I love your content and I’ve been watching you for years. I just wanted to suggest Grim Fandango Remastered. The storyline and jokes are really entertaining and may be a welcome reprieve from indie horror. ^_^
The dialogue is awkward, and the shooting gallery mini game was abrupt and pace-breaking. I think it could be fun, but maybe with a more structured approach (less getting bum-rushed by zombies as soon as you enter the floor, more sneaking up on zombies and killing them in more clever ways), but I think that also might be that those sections can be fun to play, but less so to watch . Aside from that, I'm excited to see what the final product will look like.
The art style of this game is already reminding me of Clock Tower, and I'm always eager for more Pixelated Point-and-Click horror games.

Emma Andersson I agree too well said.

Math is the only subject in school that’s brought me to tears through pure frustration.
I am a simple man, I hate math
Hell no, math is extremely exciting. It's literally the language of understanding and solving problems of the universe.
I think your confusing Math for Science, (Which are two completely different things) Math has nothing to do with understanding the universe as the universe is NOT made up of decimals or fractions nor can it quantified by numbers for that matter.
I hate math, and am horrible at it. I would much rather work with words than numbers. I’ve always loved reading and writing.
That math problem was a little harsh especially to people who may not be that great at math. I'm assuming if you would've picked "I hate math" or something then the puzzle would've been easier.
Could you imagine being in this situation in real life? I'd be so screwed...
I love that teeth are used for "Bullets". It makes me sad though that the monsters lose their teeth from bumping their heads so much though. And that poor little girl, goodness.
"I ain't afraid of no ghosts." Big mood
Funny thing is, he has said in the past he thinks Ghostbusters is overrated.
I'm sad this was just a demo ; ;
John's math skills tho :) I'm glad I don't need to do word problems anymore
28:42 john having war flashblacks 👀👀 of bad times.
On a serious note, I am really proud that you managed to get through the puzzles. Keep up the good work John!!
Just By the thumbnail only this game is going to be good.
The author of this game sure likes David Cronenberg's "Existenz". For anyonone that doesn't know, that movie haves a Flesh and bone gun that shoots teeth, and even made out of parts of a roasted chicken.

I've been trying to plan my character for DnD and my top name right now is Jori. What a weird, boring coincidence.
What a twist!
Apparently the full game came out this year. Would love to see you check it out, it’s only got 4 reviews on steam but they’re all positive.
jorry - jean sorry
John, you should play Harvester from the 90's. Its a point and click game like this.
yung sac I was just thinking that!
Woah woah john way too many videos we don't deserve this
John's joy from finding the lemon made my day! 24:39
Seems inspired by Existenz (where the scorn flesh gun drew inspiration too + Geiger) Since the flesh gun shooting teeth is directly taken from the film.

I really like that pixelated games can still be relevant.
Thanks for showing your math work John, A+. Such a good content creator.
Is the painting of the turkey room, where you get the weapon, the cover of Burzum's "Aske"?

Yep, the 5 floors are backward names of metal bands:
1. Mayhem
2. Burzum
3. Marduk
4. Immortal
5. Darkthrone
:D
Clock's bell sounds like one of Burzum's instrumentals.
This is... really quite interesting. Kind of weird and maybe lacking in some ways, but definitely interesting. It's nice to see some high-effort pixel art, too. What a cool looking game. Great play-through John - I'd be interested in watching a play-through of this once the full version is out.
Hey John the full release of JORRY is either just out or is going to be. Are you going to play it?
The beginning few minutes were very Clock Tower... And then it turned into shoot-em-up zombie action.
Hopefully that changes with the full release - either way, great video. I'm surprised you were the only one to have beaten it on TH-cam...
The art and the sprites are GORGEOUS, looove the style. Hope the full game is as good
makes me nostalgic for one of my favorite old pc game developers, Sierra
God John the lengths you go to for some games! Commendable!
You having Sinow over for checking that little math problem had me cracked up. Just imagine two full grown, well-educated men puzzling over it is just so funny XD
Also did anyone else thought the title looks like "sorry" but the upper part of S is torn apart?

:D
thank you for gracing us with your videos!
Really enjoyed it, looking forward to the full game, thanks John.
I liked the art style a lot, and like the "panic" aspect to make it more than just a key hunt
I honestly *Love* how John spares no character from his remarks. Lol all get the harsh sarcastic criticism of JohnWolfe. This the great game play I always look forward to.
I laughed a bit too loudly when a gun came out of the turkey.
i really love this type of gameplay. ive been trying to make my own click and point horror, yet it's hard to do everything at once.
The picture by the clock is the album cover for "Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism" by Immortal. The picture by the desk (with the word problem) is "Aske" by Burzum. Great albums, y'all should check them out.
The floors/levels are also anagrams of Mayhem, Burzum, Marduk, Immortal, Darkthrone, it's always nice to see a developers taste woven through a game.
Not to mention that the chapter names are both titles of songs off of Mayhem's "De Mysteriis Dom. Sathanas" album.
I think another little reference is when you first exit that starting room and head into the hallway, and the protagonist mentions that "everything here is so cold"... nice little touches.
I just noticed the cover of Aske and was about the comment the same, didn't catch the other easter eggs/references though.
This is cool so far and I can't wait for you to play more. I LOVE when you play P&C games.
This game has lots of potential. Looking forward to the full game
good stuff man. i hope to see more of this. interested in the story. Thank you for the upload. id rage too for that lemon haha
Always happy to see a new John Wolfe video
Awesome video John appreciate all the videos
0:59 could be a bunch of adoring kidnapper fans, you never know!
1:08 oh ok, so adoring kidnapper fan ghosts.
Big Shaq ain't got nuthin' on John's quick maths
Fun watch! And the teeth gun is very reminding of that game. Seems bit short and too much backtracking with the hunting/few floors.
Theres some awesome slavic weirdness happening here.
The best kind of weirdness! xD
FinestFantasyVI
After STALKER, Metro and Darkwood, I agree completely 😄
Dinner-fork tongue We need more slavic weirdness. I think we're a bit underrated. I see too much scandinavian/nordic stuff
Good job on being the first to finish the demo, John!
the art is so well done!!
The greatest gaming conundrum of 2018, so far. All caused by a single fucking lemon.
What a neat title, tho! Let's hope we see more of this, sometime soon.
Some of the best voice acting I've heard in a game.
You're so amazing, john!
Just saying who wants to solve a math word problem in a video game?! I was always terrible at math but that compounded with the fact you couldn’t even see the lemon I would have quit

0:47 not even a minute in and John has me laughing.
This game looks awesome!
Gobble GOBBLE fire. I love these neat point and click pixel games. Such fun. I get so much nostalgia watch, feels time. Thank you for the awesome uploads John.

Oml. Its been like half a year I've not been able to watch youtube. I missed you John
I found 7 teeth?! That's a lot of teeth! lol
Whenever I see a Pixelated Point and Click Game I think of that one line from the 80's "Ken Sent Me"
I think this has potential!
Damn john good job on solving the puzzle, It would have token me more then a while to finish that.
I'm always hyped when I see a notification about John playing a game anyone else agree?
Me too! Gameplays with John are awesome! :)
nice little Demo i like that you can hide.
The Guy the with the chainsaw is funny :D
hope the full Game coming soon :D
Gotta love the bad puns , unself aware criticism, and self hating.😂 btw... I've watched a hundred of Wolfie's vids😂
This looks awesome. Excited for the full game.
The gun and their bullets remind me of eXistenz (movie with Jude Law and Jennifer Jason Leigh). It HAS to be a reference. It's about a game designer as well, coincidentally.
Heats up the lower floor.. takes the lift to the next.
The pixel rotoscoping on the sprites was right out of golden era Sierra games.
Let's see what they can do.
In 9:21 isn't that a burzum album cover on the wall showing by projector?
y'know. i'd love to watch john play the chizo mytho's games (five days a stranger. trilbys notes. 7 days a skeptic. and 6 days a sacrifice) really great games and i recommend anyone who enjoys the point and click horror aspect....and no they aren't out of order. anyone who's played them will understand why
9:50 The vocals remind of me of something from a SepticFlesh song.
Edit: Prototype, in particular.
I think.
I swear they got that gun idea from the 90s movie eXistenZ. They build a gun out of this lizard carcass after they eat the lizard and then the main character pulls a dental bridge with teeth out of his mouth and load the gun like it was a clip. Good movie. Go watch
I love the Texas Chainsaw Massacre reference
Love you, John.
Oh look, The Texas Clock Tower Massacre
"open the door you little shit!" :DD Omg John you´re the best!
Keep up the good work! :D
Congrats on the first recorded clear!
I'm a dumbass and I was watching over and over like "... how did you draw 4125 from THAT?"
and then I got it.
Good on you man, you solved that puzzle!
Is the picture next to the clock seriously just the album art for Immortal's Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism
I hope you do a LP of the Chzo games someday! They're such great nostalgia games with good stories
Take care John
"I found seven teeth"
No John its only seven.
is the painting on the wall at 10:48 Burzum's Aske?
lmfao why would they put that there
Ah, I love when you play point and click games.
Preety cool game!!!
This game remind me of downfall (and old rpg horror game from the maker of the cat lady game) both song and art style, the atmosphere too.
Yeah, it gave me Downfall vibes too. The original version, anyway
Jorry act like she can easily handles all the monsters
Totally the "teeth gun" from Existenz.
The gun gave me serious Existenz vibes.
The full game is out, will you be playing it?
Hey John, I love your content and I’ve been watching you for years. I just wanted to suggest Grim Fandango Remastered. The storyline and jokes are really entertaining and may be a welcome reprieve from indie horror. ^_^
this is the gameplay that Resident Evil want
You light up my day John xD
it looks really cool hopefully they fix the lemon thing
These pixel horror games are 👌
i love games like this.
Did John say "I hear coming" when he was in the first area and heard footsteps?
The dialogue is awkward, and the shooting gallery mini game was abrupt and pace-breaking. I think it could be fun, but maybe with a more structured approach (less getting bum-rushed by zombies as soon as you enter the floor, more sneaking up on zombies and killing them in more clever ways), but I think that also might be that those sections can be fun to play, but less so to watch .
