  • Eric Linn-Miller presented "Policy and Practice Issues Regarding Serving Clients with Disabilities" at the 2015 NASW Wisconsin Conference on Tuesday, October 20. Linn-Miller graduated from the UW-Madison School of Social Work with a BSW in 2008, and went on to receive his MSW from the University of Michigan. He is the program manager of the Dane County Human Services Developmental Disabilities Unit.
This workshop focuses on the unique challenges and joys of working with people with developmental disabilities and their families. Linn-Miller spends time discussing these challenges and joys as it relates to the spectrum of developmental disabilities along with developing individual support plans designed to maximize a person’s independence and connectedness within their community and promote a sense of belonging and self-worth.
Linn-Miller discusses these values and practices within the context of Wisconsin’s long-term care system that has evolved from the original Home and Community Based Waiver Model, to Family Care and IRIS, to what may be next with Wisconsin’s 2015-2017 biennium budget that proposes significant changes to the current long term care system.
