- So Joan of Arc can actually result in a matriarchal government type in EU4! Cool, right! Whether it's an EU4 easter egg or not, this hidden or secret government type is AMAZING! Basically an exploit, you have to fight EU4 France, Eu4 Burgundy and EU4 France as ORLEANS in order to take the decision! Following on from our "What makes Girls not play EU4?" video, this kind of fits a... theme?

The night after Joan of Arc's successful siege of Orleans I can just imagine her having another one of her divine visions while sleeping where the mighty masked figure Aurelian walks up to her and gives a simple nod.

Playing the Siberians is something that's been on my bucket list but the savescumming for gold provinces sorta takes me out of it

While this is really cool and all, its kind of disappointing that you have to wait until they Age of Absolution or Enlightenment. Just feels like an unnecessary delay.
Historically it kinda makes more sense.

there is a mod i believe that lets the event fire within the first 50 years of game start

FYI, the mission require Paris, Caux and Barrois, because Caux is Rouen where Joan of Arc died, and Barrois is Domrémy where she was born ^^
Continue the campaign, probably colonise the new world to spread the matriarchy. Joan's legacy must spread the world!
I actually looked up this permanent modifier a few days ago as well.. I was like damn that is good stuff, why has nobody else used it? Then I realized what age it has to be to get it. I don't even play most of my games to that age lol

I always go around their English Naval blockade by sending troops into Allied Scotland. I found even with more and better ships, you still risk losing a lot of ships, and they're very expensive.
I just snuck a stack of troops in avoiding their navy and then once I was there and took a province I hired lots of mercenaries.

You forgot about never fighting a land war in Asia and never going in with a Sicilian when death is on the line
I wanted to do something like this just before origins dropped and couldn't find anything about it being in the game, closest i could get was a custom nation with an immortal female ruler, and may recruit female generals/higher female advisor cost which sucks hard, cause I would have to sacrifice 2 entire idea slots, unlike with orleans where it is one of two modifiers for one idea slot. Gonna try Orleans next I guess, was looking for a more challenging match as I've been playing pretty strong nations recently.
Also excited for this. Commented this on an older video last night: Do you ever assign province objectives for your war allies to take? And I just don’t see it… It makes your Allies a lot more helpful.
you can get this as france aswell, the only problem is that orleans your vassal not only has to get the event but also decide for it, so when you integrate them you get a following event for you... the only problem is the fact that the switch can happen earliest in the 1730s or 40s... so basically at the end of the game (and thats not even guaranteed since each of those events have 50 to 100years of meantime to happen xd)

Having done this run - getting Burgundy to support you is insanely lucky. I rerolled a bunch of times and Burgundy was never willing to support me. Eventually I got a roll where Aragon was rivalled to France, so I ended up getting England, Aragon, and Austria supporting me, and a bunch of mercs, to get independence. From there though you can join the Empire and with Austria and maybe Aragon still as your allies you're in a great place
I get that it's a warhammer reference or whatever but hearing "Our Lady" refer to anyone but Mary in a Catholic context (since they are an order of nuns) just sounds weird and almost wrong

@@eyzmin I was more concerned with describing St. Joan d'Arc as "Our Lady"-it seems wrong since Mary is the only one I've ever heard described as such since Mary is the only saint given hyperdulia veneration.

I was just commenting on something strange I noticed-the devs clearly wanted to make a warhammar reference and I found it odd. I really would rather not get into theological arguments on TH-cam of all places.
I mean, they formed a matriarchal society. Your old conception of religion would fly out of the window. Joan of Arc may as well be the Goddess now.
Didn't they change how this event works? It did indeed used to only fire in the age of absolutism with a large MTTH (100 years) but now instead should happen after the decision click with a MTTH of 10 years. Looking at the event script that popped up, this change looks to be in place, notice the OR on the triggers.
I heard something like that as well. Not sure tough. Also does only Orleans get it or can France get it too? Because you have that decision as France as well.

In older versions of EU4, it was easy to create a matriarchy by using an in-game loophole - the next ruler's type was based on genders of previous rulers, and the chance increased with each generation.
So if most of your rulers are kings, the heirs will be sons too. This was always how it normally worked in all nations, since most rulers are already kings.
But if you get a queen, and then get a princess as heir, there was a good chance that the next heir would be a princess too. Once she ruled, the next one had even higher chance of being a princess. All you had to do was to wait for RNG to be in your favour, and after a few generations by mid-game, your kingdom would have only queens and princesses ruling it.
Of course, this feature ended when they updated the rulers, consorts and heirs and how they emerge in the game in later patches and such.

Can you still finish the event if you get the "had_maid_of_orleans" flag, but since formed France or another nation before completing the event chain? I doesn't say that you have to, but I've learnt not to assume with eu4.
The videos are often a little bit blurry, making it a bit difficult to read the words on the screen and follow what is going on. It would be very much appreciated if the resolution of these gameplay videos could increase, or even match that of EU4.
This difference in resolution between the game itself and the videos could be caused by the recording software, or by the type and extent of compression used. To my knowledge, some file extensions use lossy compression, and some use lossless compression.

To be fair, all Paradox games should have gender preferences like CK3. It's really cool for roleplay and it allows you to convert from game to game with the same type of nation. If I created a Matriarchal/Egalitarian society in CK3, why does it magically disappear in EU4 and you become patriarchal? And Stellaris should not force you to be egalitarian either. It does not take so much effort, yet it adds so much flavor.
How exactly does Stellaris force you to be egalitarian? There literally is a start where you have a population designated as slaves (men/women/udders whatever you want them to be) and one as rulers.
@@ruukinen Men and women are perfectly equal in Stellaris. Your leaders, your pops, it changes nothing if they are male or female. I meant equality between sexes, not between social classes, so slaves have nothing to do with what I'm talking about.
There is no way to configure gender roles at the start, at least, there was no way as of the Nemesis update, I haven't played in a couple of months, I doubt they added this option.
@@MichaelDavis-mk4me Yeah so just make a race that is male/female with the slavery start and have the slave race be male/female. I don't know exactly what you want the gender roles to be but you can morph into them during gameplay if you can't exactly start of with the ones you want.
@@ruukinen There is a difference between men or women leading a society and literal slavery. Also, if you do what you just said, you will be stuck with two races that will need to be managed individually.
Here is a better system : Change the pop growth system so it makes two pops at a time, one man, one woman. If say, you are patriarchal, the man gets regular pop job, the woman gets a household job granting a tiny bonus to pop growth (cause they raise kids at home) and they provide amenities.
@@MichaelDavis-mk4me The distinction between genders and races you are making is nonsensical. There is no difference between gender from a gameplay perspective and all the differences you want simulated can be done by saying race === gender.
If the genders had different roles in society you would still have to manage them differently so that can't really be a negative. You are talking about a niche RP setting which sure they have already implemented several and I'm just telling you how you can already play out your scenario if you are just willing to look beyond labels.
Actually, i have a good tips, if you (or some other french culture) agree the protestant to destroy and repay for the statue of Joan d' ARC, then you will loose the ability to get this event

I don't think so. You only lose a Unique government type if you form a nation with a unique government type. Like say if you're a Military Dictatorship Milan, you'll stop being a military dictatorship if you reform Austria or Switzerland.
