Those minigames are pure anxiety. That backwards trick was especially horrifying.
I've seen it on TAS before and always thought it was just for fun! Knowing that the lack of turns is what makes it work is amazing, and incredible to see it done in real time!
I love what they did in the Sonic Origins version of this, you have unlimited lives and they replaced lives with coins, and now you can spend a coin to retry the special stage if you fail 😂 they had to replace the Ice Cap zone music to the inferior beta version though so tradeoff I guess

S3&K is the great game to watch speedruns of, it just breaks so wonderfully, I'm never tired of it. My first time seeing an All Emeralds run though, and the blue spheres segments were much more exciting than I thought they would be! Awesome run!
I am so freaking blown away everytime we see new skips and glitches and my gods this was such a phenomenal run!! While I am not a hardcore speedrunner myself, seeing these things feed my obsession with learning about how games function and all the fascinating ways you can both peel them apart to learn more and break them. Thank you TheSoundDefense for such an impressive run!!!

The wheel glitch in carnival night zone always blows me away. Such a cool, weird little glitch.
It's nice to see Sonic-only getting some love! I see Tails-only, Knuckles-only, and Sonic-and-Tails, but Sonic only is one of the most interesting in my opinion. =)
This run has been easily my favorite speedrun so far of the marathon.
This game was my jam in 3rd grade. Took me forever to get all the emeralds.

Just WOW. WOW! The maximum of cool is watching TheSoundDefense do blue sphere. The complexity of the routes, ugh. Just utterly mind blowing. As is the whole run.
Aw man. Those Blue Sphere TAS strats are beautiful. I couldn't wait past Angel Island to comment but I'm sure I'm in for many more treats 😃

57:23 I love this run, but I must disagree, the best tracks in the game are Hydrocity 2, Lava Reef 1, and either Ice cap zone respectively.
Lava reef is so slept on I agree considerably on hydro city and lava reef

The screen flashes are only present while Hyper Sonic is on the screen. It happens often, but you could look away whenever he transforms, and look back when the boss of each level is defeated?

God I wish there was a way to skip the ghost capsule in Sandopolis 2
If you skip the ghost capsule, the moment you touch a checkpoint, the ghosts appear anyway.
I honestly never found the ghosts in Sandopolis Zone Act 2 to be any problematic. Every time I played the level they were usually too late to even start attacking me by the time I pulled one of light switches.
I didn't know the behind the sand temple trick was a trick, did it once by mistake as a kid, i sent the flag behind the temple and never could figure out how i did it

Finally someone pronounces Hydrocity zone right! This is a pet peeve of mine! I'm sick and tired of people pronouncing it "Hydrocity" instead of "Hydro-city!" Since the zone is an aquatic city, and "hydrocity" isn't even a word.
I like it as one word because it sounds like a cool name instead of Adjective Noun. Just like Metropolis instead of Metro Polis.
damn i didn't know there was a wiiU version of sonic 3 and it sounds horrible. i'm sure there's a good reason why they play this version instead of the pc port, but WHY ? why wouldn't they play on the pc version ?
There isn't a Wii U version of Sonic 3. He's just using Wii Virtual Console backwards compatibility
He is actually playing the Wii Virtual Console version of the game, which is the same as the original game on it's original hardware. Besides, the PC version isn't exactly better than the original.
