Mt dad taught me to make gaskets for antique gas engine by tapping them on the cylinder head... works quite well to be honest. Works for making bearing shims as well
Had to tap out head gaskets at the roadside whilst visiting Sussex in 1980 on my old ex police velocette le mk3 , unfortunately that didn't cure the problem and so had to get AA relay back to Edinburgh, took 6 hours to get through London due to the embassy seige. Ended up selling the bike to the Chambers St museum in Edinburgh. Not easy to work on, the le ,but conceptual in its operation. The noddy bikes were 12v too for lights and radio. Happy days.
