Keith, how can you tell when a steam engine is running in the wrong direction, or backwards? Everything on these engines is symmetrical. So, how is forward or backward determined?

The big end needs to go over the top on a Horizontal Engine, the full size ones are like this so there is less of a problem with the flywheel coming loose.
