    Hi ! I must be true ! REALLY THE BEST TUTO I watched about DAZ rigging for many, many years ...
    If I say that, please, trust me; I use DAZ from 2004 and I definitively did never saw such explanation offered to the public with a so clear commentary during the video progression !
    in ~10 minutes, YOU give all the keys to understand the process and to achieve goals !
    I was looking for a tuto to rebuild/correct my workflow to go simplifying it ...
    Nearly all old tuto's spoke about exporting the content in Hexagon, or blender, etc, creating morphs and integrating morphs to the initial shape/mesh ... AND all people listen to those "content creators" / Published Artists etc.
    I don't say morphs are not usefull, but for a door, a window, a shelf ... maybe, sometimes, it too much ;) ...
    This is where bones mastering is more thant helpfull ! YOU ROCK IT Man :) !

    Frack Me, I purchased a tutorial from the Daz Store on how to rig a car and it was absolutely useless. The rigging lesson consisted of bringing in a pre-rigged car. The highlight of the lesson was how to set the camera angle so viewers don't see that half of the car wheels are swallowed up by the ground. I learned how to rig a car on this video.

    Nice video. When adjusting the pivot points, it's better to use the non-perspective views (front, left, top, etc.) because in the other views there are some distortions and you can end up putting the pivot points in the wrong places and/or having too much more trouble placing them.

    I have seen some of your tutorials and found them very helpful.
    Many thanks for all the effort and the support!
    By the way.. how would you rig a cupboard with a drawer?
    I have a prop where one piece of geometry slides onto the base of the prop.. -And until know I didn't find out how to do this 🙂

    Wow, this tutorial is really great and helpful.
    Please, do you have any tutorial on how a beginner using Daz Studio 4.12 Pro, can create simple props like tea cup, kettle, ball, or other similar objects?

    • @ParmyBaddhan
      @ParmyBaddhan  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your comment and question. Daz Studio is not content creation software like other 3D modelling software such as Blender. If you wish to create props then Blender would be the best choice and you can import these props into Daz Studio.

    Do you have a follow up video explaining how to set the limits on the rigging? I ask because for a successful rigging job that works right every time you use the prop, limits are needed to keep the part from moving in ways you do not wish them to move. For doors you want the swing limited to keep it from swinging to wide or in the wrong direction. This basically tells DAZ Studio how far the swing is to go, and in which direction on which axis. In this part of rigging, you can also rename the movement of the rigged part; such as for a door, you might call the active swing Open-Close.
    One more thing I will add here: There are two types of prop rigging, each being as good as the other, but one foregoing the weight-mapping step. If you convert a prop to a figure, it should then be saved as a figure in the proper category. It also requires that extra step, weight-mapping. If you rig the other way, you create what is known as an Articulated Prop. In this type of rigging you do not weight-map the item or its movable parts, nor do you have to create "bones" for it. You simply go to the Joint Editor, choose your axis arrangement, and set the positions of the center point and the end point. This creates the axis around which the object is to rotate. (This part of the operation works just like it does for creating a figure prop.) As with the figure prop method, setting limits is also a good idea here.

      @ParmyBaddhan  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for sharing. As for settings limits I will go over this when we start creating our own props.

      @@ParmyBaddhan Excellent.
      I must say you are making some of the best video tutorials for DAZ Studio I have ever seen. I've been using DAZ Studio since version 4.0, about ten years now. When I first got started, I was looking for tutorials to help me learn/ Most were not well made, and hard to follow. Because of this, I swore off video tutorials for DAZ Studio, and learned from document type tutorials instead. Lighting tutorials were scarce, and not easy to follow in either form though, and because I am a classically trained artist, practicing for more than 45 years, I definitely know the importance of lighting in art. So I dug into the lighting system of DAZ Studio to see what I could learn on my own, and believe it or not, had created my own way of working with lights in DAZ Studio just six weeks into using the application.
      Since that time I have refined my method to make it as good or better than the preset lighting that comes with many products. I prefer to create my own lighting and editing it to convey the mood I want portrayed.
      Apologies for such a long reply, but I really enjoy art so much, I have to talk about it a lot. I want people to enjoy it as much as I do.
      Thank you for helping people learn about DAZ Studio. We need people like you to make great tutorials that are easy and fun to follow.

    Nice tutorial, but with my geforce 1060GT 6GB render preview runs pretty slow, if I turn on denoiser it's fast, but even on render models, clothes, hair, looks pretty odd like blurry, especially eyes, but the kitchen around looks nice. Is there any way to fix this? With out denoiser everything is well. The same with final renders. What is the best value for iteration to start denoiser?
    is this just ambient lighting which for environment, props? Should I use spot, point lights to light up models or that IES lighting can work with models as well?
    Can you please make other scene in day light, like in this video where light came throw windows?

    • @ParmyBaddhan
      @ParmyBaddhan  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your comment.
      Denoiser removes the noise from the render and also removes the sharpness. So you get quicker renders and as a side effect less sharp renders. I created a video which explains how you can keep sharpness using the pixel filter radius settings, th-cam.com/video/DK0eQRvDpRk/w-d-xo.html.
      My current settings for Pixel filter is Mitchell at 1 which works well as a starting point for keeping sharpness while leaving the post denoiser at default settings.
      As for lighting you can use spotlights, pointlights or IES lights to light you models and scenes. It all depends on what effect you are looking for. Just make sure the scene has enough light as Iray works better with brighter scenes.
      For more on indoor lighting please see this video, th-cam.com/video/2fpB0U0n-y0/w-d-xo.html

    • @ParmyBaddhan
      @ParmyBaddhan  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your kind comment. As for changing the rigging of figures, you should not need to do this as all current figures have the correct rigging. On a first attempt I followed your instructions it did not work. To resolve the problem first thing that needed to be done is: while using Node Weight Map Brush Tool and right clicking on the screen I went to Geometry Selection - Select By - Face Groups - selected "my face group". Only after I did that my face group appeared red. And After that I went to "Fill Selected Faces" and was able to give weight to my Face Group. It worked fine after that. Just putting it out here in case someone else runs into the same problem.

    Hi Parmy. As others have said, this is an extremely clear tutorial - thank you for providing it! That said, I'm having problems rigging a box that came from an obj file. I believe all my face groups are set up properly, the proper group (lid of the box) is assigned to the bone, and I can't see anything wrong with my rigging - but when I test it, the bone rotates but the lid does not. In fact nothing on the object itself moves.
    Any way you can help me out?

    Thanks for linking the prop! Also because of the freebies, it's super fun learning with you :) However, sadly I cannot use your prop. When I go to Edit->Object->Rigging->Convert Prop to figure it says "A simple object in the scene with geometry must be selected to continue"
    I think it is because your cupboard already had a hexagonal icon when I imported it. I will create a simple primitive 1 by 10 and simulate a door and try to follow. :) The primitive has the cube icon and I can convert it :)
    EDIT: Fail, Well since your cupboard has already the hexagon symbol it means that I can simply progress and skip this step ^^. I will leave the comment if somebody else will have the same confusion as I did.
    EDIT2: Couldn't follow along, because your cupboard already has the door bones and everything. Going to build my own super simple cupboard.
    EDIT3: I feel like this is the first tutorial I cannot manage to replicate. Too many things are off. For example, now my child bones are kinda 2D, while yours are 3D.
    Yeah, finished the video right now and I was fiddling around with everything. Googling various different things. Creating my own prop etc. etc. This was a big fail for me. Next time, if possible please provide the prop or ar least tell me where I can buy this prop so I can follow along. So maybe you could redo this video? :) I mean I learned a lot and in theory, I know how to rig, but I couldn't pull it off. Probably because my prop was a big fail ^^

    • @ParmyBaddhan
      @ParmyBaddhan  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So the prop that is available to download is already rigged and you can use the prop in your render.
      Failure is part of the learning process, so don't be disheartened even if my instructions in the video are not that good.
      I'm still very early in this TH-cam game so some tutorials will hit and others will miss. It's gonna take time for me to find the correct process, where I am creating consistent content in my videos.
      I will create another TH-cam tutorial that requires rigging when we get to 3D modelling with Hexagon. For now don't worry about rigging there are more important things to focus on such as lighting.

    Bro, why did you delete my Blender comment? It was an update to the 3D Warehouse I comment I made down below that is no longer valid. This asset library using the SKP file format now requires users to upgrade their version of Sketchup to 2020 making the 2019 version I own useless. Not wanting to fork out another $400, I learned Blender developers created free plugins that are completely legal allowing you to import these SKP files and convert them into OBJ's for use in Daz3D. So your viewers reading this have just expanded their prop library by 3M without spending a penny. If you visit 3D Warehouse's Terms of Use, you'll see these models are free to use personally or corporately regardless of what program they use to process and convert the files.
