      Thanks for the kind comment. When I was thinking of a thumbnail for this video the ultimate warrior came to mind because he used face paint and LIE is all about applying "paint" to the skin of your figures.

    Amazing tutorial! I already had a little bit of background knowledge of texturing using gimp to replace textures but just couldn't find the dang layered image editor to get rid of a L.I.E texture. I was able to skip ahead to 2 minutes and get the exact info I needed. Thank you!

    Nice to see, that you got your hands on the L.I.E. Materials after your bruises tutorial. :) I never played with the mask-layers before, myself. So it was neat to see them in action in your tutorial.

    • @ParmyBaddhan

      I wish found L.I.E. earlier. It's a simpler method of customising your character than the previous methods I showed.

    • @Techn0magier
      @Techn0magier 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ParmyBaddhan True. You will get a lot of milage out of L.I.E. Materials. But when you reach for extreme photorealism, your other method allow for much better blending and imperfections, adjusted to an individual surface. The versatility and transfereability of L.I.E.Materials aren't needed there. It is as you said back on the other video, every mehod has its pros and cons. Have a nice day and keep up your good work.

    Hi, very handy overview of the LIE.
    Have you any tips on create makeup like lipstick and eyeshadow for the LIE? I have a couple textures I like the look of that have a very limited range of makeup and was thinking about using the LIE to make up for that.
    I know there are some LIE makeup products in the DAZ store lie the ones that you used, but I was wondering how to DIY it

    • @ParmyBaddhan
      @ParmyBaddhan  ปีที่แล้ว

      The quick overview to create your own LIE like lipstick and eyeshadow is by using the default genesis character maps and using a paint program.
      You would have the original genesis map on the bottom layer and have a blank layer on the top. Then paint the lips and eyeshadow on the blank layer.
      save the layer with the lipstick and eyeshadow and import via LIE.
      You may want the lipstick and eyeshadow to be on separate layers so you can mix and match different lipsticks and eyeshadows.

      the most important part of nice render is LIGHT, really, Light changes everything!
      grab this, that will help you a lot:
      www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/paper-tigers-quick-hdri-lighting-vol-4/139290
      (I just see right now its in sale!) it helps you with making Light, placing it, also rotating the Background dome and many more, you just need to click the buttons, no playing around with sliders (you stll can do it!)
      I love to use that ;)
      btw. I'm German :D
      www.3d-board.de/wcf/
      There is a German 3D Forum 8with a german subforum) where you can ask all in german, I'm sure that will help you a lot... I get a lot help there ;)
      (I assume youre German, because your TH-camname is German^^)
      Understanding all the physics/Light names AND translating them is really... a lot input, so it can help to talk about in your native language ;)
      What is transluancy, what is diffuse, what does rhoughness do, for what is emission, etc.... so much "special" words, we don't use daily in our live ;)
      And you doN't learn form gaming or school English :D

    A question about masks - in the video, the mask looks painted on. Is there a way to add a bit of thickness to the mask, etc.?

    • @ParmyBaddhan
      @ParmyBaddhan  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The mask looks painted on because the layered Image Editor (LIE) is used for makeup and skin imperfections. To add thickness you could add the LIE to a Geoshell and increase the thickness of the GeoShell. See this Tutorial, th-cam.com/video/pv9a6LocIHE/w-d-xo.html

    Creating custom Character's makeup presets, I have some issues with LIE and can't seem to find a solution, very few info around about that.
    Let's say I create a blush LIE for the cheeks as a Layered Image Preset. Once this .duf saved, from my Content Library, if I click on it, a new face texture is created with the blush on it. All good. But if I click 5 times the same icon, then I'll get blush checks on top of blushed cheeks 5 times making them ultra red. I'm looking for ways to create .duf icons so that the user can (without accessing the LIE editor that not everyone knows about) delete some LIE layers. This layered system is kinda interesting. But it all feels very limited :(

    • @ParmyBaddhan
      @ParmyBaddhan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The only way delete a LIE using a .duf icon is to create a script. I believe Daz3D PA's have access to these scripts.

    This is an excellent video, though at times I had to replay certain sections a few times over in order to keep up with you. But I did learn what I wanted to learn, which was great. But there a couple of things I would like to question you about. In laying in tattoos using Image Editor, they are black (or in their 'natural' color when viewed in Texture Shader, but when viewed in Iray preview, or rendered, they are red or, if colored, the colors take on a reddish hue. Is there any way to prevent this from happening? And the second concerns placement of tattoos, specifically on the character's back, either at shoulder level or lower back. Placing a tattoo on the front is simple enough, but how do you do it across the back? Thanks for you help!
    And, after watching your video, it helped me with placing tattoos made for Genesis 2 and 3 onto Genesis 8 characters!

    • @ParmyBaddhan
      @ParmyBaddhan  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your comment and questions.
      If you want to preserve the colour of the tattoos so they are not affected by the skin colour of the character, then add the LIE to the base colour map only and make sure the base colour map has the same skin texture that has been applied to the translucency map. Keep the base colour set to white.
      As for placement of tattoos I would recommend using Iray decal nodes where you don't have to worry about the UVs and placement of tattoos on difficult areas such as the back. I use decal nodes in my comic book to add blood, cuts, bruises, rips and tears. Here is the video on Iray decal nodes, th-cam.com/video/g19co195gsM/w-d-xo.html
      If you have any further questions then please reply and I will do my best to help you.

      @@ParmyBaddhan I went to your link, and after fumbling a couple of times I made it work. This is fantastic! I was able to place an image (tattoo) smack across the character's back a hair below the shoulder line. Of course the only drawback is that you can only see the images in iray preview mode. Thanks!

    • @ParmyBaddhan

      I can't believe I missed that setting out in the tutorial. The copy layer setting allows you to copy the settings from a specific layer. Once you click the copy layer settings button the paste layer settings button is activated. Click on the paste layer settings button and select which settings you want to copy across.

    Another fantastic tute, it seems like whatever I've got a question about you've got a video on, thanks man!
    Something related to this, I've been playing around with materials in Daz trying to see if/how to add keyframes to them so I can animate material effects but not sure if this just doesn't exist in Daz or I'm totally missing it somehow, do you know if it's possible in Daz?
    I've been searching around a lot today but non of my queries seem to turn up anything useful (the closest I got was a discussion related to Carrera on the Daz forums) but maybe my queries aren't quite right.

    • @ParmyBaddhan
      @ParmyBaddhan  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      A great idea, but it is not possible to animate material effects as of yet. Animation inside Daz Studio is not the best. If you are serious about animation, you can try iclone or reallusion character creator.

      @@ParmyBaddhan Thanks for the info! That's a shame but not entirely unexpected. I believe I can create the effects I'm going for in Blender which I've also been playing with but had been hoping I might be able to achieve it in Daz due to the simplicity of being able to load up pre-rigged characters and use morphs etc. Looks like I now need to learn rigging properly as well in blender! Could you maybe consider a tutorial on the new (newish) 4-Layer Uber PBR shader that comes with Daz Studio and how it can be used to: add additional images, textures, grunges to objects or models on top of their normal textures
    Also do you do product reviews? I was curious about this product but have not purchased it: Muelsfell Multilayer Iray Terrain Shader.
    It appears to be similar to the 4-layer shader, but allows tiling of the individual layers individually, and opacity maps of each layer so that they can be used to avoid repetition on large terrains.

    • @ParmyBaddhan
      @ParmyBaddhan  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      First I've heard of 4-layer Uber PBR shader. I'm still working on mastering the normal Iray shader. I will look into the 4-Layer Iray Uber PBR Shader. I only review products that I use regularly which has added value to my workflow.

    I'm working with older figures, and I wish to add freckles to the existing skin textures. If I can get the UV Maps, all I'd need to do is create a splattered effect on that map in the color I wish the freckles to be, normally a brown color. Now I am not using PhotoShop or Gimp to make the actual layer. Rather I am using Project Dogwaffle Howler, which can do everything needed for that part of the process, even making the white on black mask. My question is "Won't this work with the 3Delight render engine textures?" I cannot use the Iray Render engine, as my PC does not have the necessary graphics system needed for it. I do have that render engine, but it will crash DAZ Studio every time. I understand that Iray is the better render engine, but the requirement of having an Nvidia Graphics system is prohibitive to users that do not have it. For this reason using the 3Delight render engine is a must. I do know that the Layered Image Editor works with both engines texture maps, but I need to know how to ensure that it is being used for the engine I need it to. So How can I switch between the Iray and 3Delight texture types?

    • @ParmyBaddhan
      @ParmyBaddhan  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You will need to change the shader of the character to !HumanSurface Base which is the 3Delight shader for characters.
      This can be found in Surfaces Tab-->Presets Tab-->Shaders-->3Delight.
      All 3Delight shaders are labelled RSL while Iray Shaders are labelled MDL.

He can hardly speak a sentence without falling into the ACTUAL trap of using the terms 'ACTUAL' and 'ACTUALLY' 'actually' totally out of context.
