Make sure you check your location, no other hotspots and you will make next to nothing, also the more units that come online the less you make. Halving coming soon too so amount mined will be halved most of the hotspots I saw were making about 0.5 hnt a day but even that is good at current prices. Just remember by the time your unit arrives this might be much lower

Basically you earn more money the more hotspots are around you, you can explore the coverage map and click on hotspots and itll tell you how many hotspots are connected to that one
So, what I am gathering from this video, and Jimmy, you can correct me if I am wrong, is the more networked your antennae is with other HTN antennae, the more you will make in HTN coin, because you and your networked friends are providing a larger area for IOT to connect to the Helium Network. The premise being you earn more for having a larger, always on connection, I'm assuming and would makes sense. Now how do you increase your profitability. If the antennae have 3-4db for umbrella effect (300 meter range) and 9db (several miles) for high-altitude-positioned straight line effect, and I am assuming that every one of the antennae/miner rigs in the network shares in the computation and therefore the rewards of computing, you need to have your miner-rig/antennae connected to a congested city metropolis via however many nodes you need to install to make it connect to you in the suburbs or rural area. If you live close to a major city, odds are you will automatically connect to 20-30 other miners, and be profitable. If like me, you live out of the major city, after checking the Global Map, I only have 2 other people to connect to, not a winning proposition. But what if I raised a pole 30' high (no hills/mountains near me) and put in a 9dB antenna for distance, but also a 3dB antenna for local (Jimmy do I need both or would 9 db take care of local also?), then placed an antenna in my mother's house, which is several miles closer to city center, and what if I place another antenna in my friends home or a business that is willing to host the miner/antenna for a minimal payment. Jimmy, you will have to chime in if this is right ... with several antennae ensuring I have a link from the suburbs or rural area to the city center, I can enjoy participating in a higher computation rate that rewards me a higher HTN compensation. I hope I am correct on this. All because I have an uninterrupted link between my location and the dense city center. Do I have this clear? Or did I mess up on something? Mike

what exactly is the coverage for? what devices connect to the network? I have been told IoT. Ok IoT why wouldn't you just connect your IoT to you own hotspot? What does helium get in return? Are they mining data and information from the IoT devices? What happens if your neighbor puts one up 40 yards from you?
Thanks for vídeo. Im trying to follow the money. The revenues come from users who pay to use the Helium network , but what if there is no one using or owns IoT products that require Helium b/c there is no Helium coverage yet? Is it a “build it and they will eventually come” business model?
One thing that irritates me is the availability of these miners. It's pretty apparent where most the problem is at. People who have bulked up and got many many hotspot miners, now control enough cash flow to bulk up more. With the shortage, they get mad money while people are waiting. Then when the drops and shipments come through, theyre already back in line maxing out how many they get. Probably using a small percent of the profits already made. (while still hodling 90%). N chances are they get next drop before you too. I don't get why it's not limited to a small amount per drop, per person. The network would spread out more even. It's the "people's" network? So less focus on "people" because many "people's" is missing out. Rather then have 80-100+ in a hex earning shit reward. Granted some is just heavy population, yes. But a lot is stupid people with stupid amounts of money. When someone else could've actually made good use of it. Can't call anything where it's such a unlevel playing field as being for "the peoples'."
The Wifi signal does not travel on the 915MHz frequency, that is the Lorawan frequency and you have the Antenna for that. The Wifi signal is on 2.4 or 5GHz and the is no antenna for this, so yes in my view the plastic boxes are better for your Wifi signal connection.

The only scary part is having such a strong frequency emitter in your home where you live considering that 900MHz has been shown to cause many bodily disruptions and one study even showed that 30 minutes of exposure for 1 month caused considerable liver damage. They only looked at the liver though

for your information you cannot just use a pi 3-4 and an antenna you actually need more and you also need a RAKK add on for the pi which as of now can never be bought and as far as i have been informed they no longer allow or support DIY hotspots anymore so yes everything is on backorder and we are all late to the party

I learned a lot. I was waiting for the "where is the money coming from" and I am not sure we have an answer. Roughly speaking when the existing 25000 hotspots get another 25000 to bounce off we will have 50000 x $50 = $2,500,000 daily payments and Helium has no customers yet. How is this sustainable?
Also it's all depending on what people view the value of HNT. Same as bitcoin. Bitcoin goes up based on people's visionary value of it. Ethereum goes up for same manner but it has projects in it. Same here. Literally physical business rather than just a random crypto based on nothing
@@jimmyispromo Oh yes I totally agree, at least HNT is earned in exchange for a service. But those recent wild fluctuations in its exchange rate are difficult to explain. If one provides better service to the network they should simply earn more HNTs. The HNT going from $1 to $8 in a couple of months makes no sense, in that respect it starts reminding of based-on-nothing Bitcoin and some of the other crypto currenices. Will HNT one day later this year turn around and go to one tenth of its value? Again, no serious business model can be based on such volatility. But hey, so far so good. We'll see.
@@BNLenterprise if its rate today is $17 and you can get 10 a day which would be $170, but when it halves, you only get 5 a day but it cost $34 per helium, you still make $170. now that doesnt mean you will make half of what youre currently making, just means the amount available is halved, as the network grows etc or as your miners get more activity you may end up getting more helium as the price increases. now ive only learned about this in the last 30 minutes. sooo, someone chime in and correct me on where i may be messing up.

Think about it like a cell phone tower or a cell phone hot spot , people in the area can use that hot spot to create a better speed to mine the company
The more Hotspots, the more you make. That's why If you don't have that many around you people would just buy 3 or 4 and that way get that money. TH-cam is filled with videos explaining and reddit with examples and cases that can be similar to yours

Thanks for the video and the info. I am very interested in Helium mining. I will say that you are incorrect about antenna dB gain, however. dB gain has nothing to do with the radiation pattern of your signal. Radiation pattern depends on the type of antenna and physical characteristics of your environment. This device set to 915 Mhz in the US (regulated by the FCC). This along with output power (watts + dB gain) will dictate its penetrating power (with the actual broadcasting frequency having the most influence). Typically, the lower the frequency, the more penetration a signal has through solid objects and its ability to go over or around physical obstacles. The higher the frequency, the less penetration a signal has. 915Mhz is a pretty high frequency, almost in the Ghz range which means that the physical wavelength of the signal is fairly small. Not great for penetrating solid objects such as hills or mountains.
What i dont understand; the hotspots are supposed to be spaced out to 300 meters apart. Why would anyone want to get a hotspot setup at their neighbours? It would be in the hexagon red-zone and not really spread out the network? It would make more sense to convince someone a block or two away to take your unit or buy and setup their own to increase mining rate?

What do you mean? If you set one up, it takes about 24-48hours to hit the blockchain then it starts working. Takes about 5-10 days to pay off if you own 2 near each other or if you have 1 near others. Then you can move your HNT to your wallet and do as you please 😁

Looking at Australia, there are like 6 hotspots in the whole country, 3 of which are turned off. No hotspots in my State at all. Income of the ones that are online is about 1-2 HYT per MONTH at best! ROI is about 2-3 years if the reward didn't half. These nodes are not what I would consider cheap. Its not making any sense to me here. Rewards need to be boosted to incentivise people to buy a node and try to get a region up and running rather than add more nodes to existing coverage areas. That's how you are going to add wider cover in other countries.

Great question. I am looking for the answer for this question from a town in India.
One thing that irritates me is the availability of these miners. It's pretty apparent where most the problem is at. People who have bulked up and got many many hotspot miners, now control enough cash flow to bulk up more. With the shortage, they get mad money while people are waiting. Then when the drops and shipments come through, theyre already back in line maxing out how many they get. Probably using a small percent of the profits already made. (while still hodling 90%). N chances are they get next drop before you too. I don't get why it's not limited to a small amount per drop, per person. The network would spread out more even. It's the "people's" network? So less focus on "people" because many "people's" is missing out. Rather then have 80-100+ in a hex earning shit reward. Granted some is just heavy population, yes. But a lot is stupid people with stupid amounts of money. When someone else could've actually made good use of it.
Can't call anything where it's such a unlevel playing field as being for "the peoples'."

The Wifi signal does not travel on the 915MHz frequency, that is the Lorawan frequency and you have the Antenna for that. The Wifi signal is on 2.4 or 5GHz and the is no antenna for this, so yes in my view the plastic boxes are better for your Wifi signal connection.

This is one of the best and most informative videos on helium mining. I’m sold. I’ll be starting this ASAP. Does it make a difference if you get multiple miners does that help? If you have one bobcat and one nebra in your home does that make a difference? I saw it’s not good to cluster them together it’s better to spread them out. The only scary part is having such a strong frequency emitter in your home where you live considering that 900MHz has been shown to cause many bodily disruptions and one study even showed that 30 minutes of exposure for 1 month caused considerable liver damage. They only looked at the liver though

for your information you cannot just use a pi 3-4 and an antenna you actually need more and you also need a RAKK add on for the pi which as of now can never be bought and as far as i have been informed they no longer allow or support DIY hotspots anymore so yes everything is on backorder and we are all late to the party

I learned a lot. I was waiting for the "where is the money coming from" and I am not sure we have an answer. Roughly speaking when the existing 25000 hotspots get another 25000 to bounce off we will have 50000 x $50 = $2,500,000 daily payments and Helium has no customers yet. How is this sustainable?
Helium has a lot of customers and their partnerships keep growing. Other smart things make sure to use Helium Loran tech
Also it's all depending on what people view the value of HNT. Same as bitcoin. Bitcoin goes up based on people's visionary value of it. Ethereum goes up for same manner but it has projects in it. Same here. Literally physical business rather than just a random crypto based on nothing
@@jimmyispromo Oh yes I totally agree, at least HNT is earned in exchange for a service. But those recent wild fluctuations in its exchange rate are difficult to explain. If one provides better service to the network they should simply earn more HNTs. The HNT going from $1 to $8 in a couple of months makes no sense, in that respect it starts reminding of based-on-nothing Bitcoin and some of the other crypto currenices. Will HNT one day later this year turn around and go to one tenth of its value? Again, no serious business model can be based on such volatility. But hey, so far so good. We'll see.

You’ll get less but with price increases it should make up for it
@@BNLenterprise if its rate today is $17 and you can get 10 a day which would be $170, but when it halves, you only get 5 a day but it cost $34 per helium, you still make $170. now that doesnt mean you will make half of what youre currently making, just means the amount available is halved, as the network grows etc or as your miners get more activity you may end up getting more helium as the price increases.

Thanks for the video and the info. I am very interested in Helium mining. I will say that you are incorrect about antenna dB gain, however. dB gain has nothing to do with the radiation pattern of your signal. Radiation pattern depends on the type of antenna and physical characteristics of your environment. This device set to 915 Mhz in the US (regulated by the FCC). This along with output power (watts + dB gain) will dictate its penetrating power (with the actual broadcasting frequency having the most influence). Typically, the lower the frequency, the more penetration a signal has through solid objects and its ability to go over or around physical obstacles. The higher the frequency, the less penetration a signal has. 915Mhz is a pretty high frequency, almost in the Ghz range which means that the physical wavelength of the signal is fairly small. Not great for penetrating solid objects such as hills or mountains.

What i dont understand; the hotspots are supposed to be spaced out to 300 meters apart. Why would anyone want to get a hotspot setup at their neighbours? It would be in the hexagon red-zone and not really spread out the network? It would make more sense to convince someone a block or two away to take your unit or buy and setup their own to increase mining rate?

What do you mean? If you set one up, it takes about 24-48hours to hit the blockchain then it starts working. Takes about 5-10 days to pay off if you own 2 near each other or if you have 1 near others. Then you can move your HNT to your wallet and do as you please 😁

Looking at Australia, there are like 6 hotspots in the whole country, 3 of which are turned off. No hotspots in my State at all. Income of the ones that are online is about 1-2 HYT per MONTH at best!
ROI is about 2-3 years if the reward didn't half. These nodes are not what I would consider cheap. Its not making any sense to me here.
Rewards need to be boosted to incentivise people to buy a node and try to get a region up and running rather than add more nodes to existing coverage areas. That's how you are going to add wider cover in other countries.
