You guys are all assuming this is late in the evening but... It could be filmed earlier in the morning, and they have other things on next door. That might be the joke originally as to how every time Izzy is on the show she will pop by other areas to hang out or will need with Brennan, who knows!
Everybody was increasing the time length slowly when Izzy just took that massive number out is funny for no reason.

When I tried to get better at Monopoly as a kid, one thing I learned is that when things are up for auction, a shocking high bet can sometimes end up being lower than the bet would have crept to and you save money. 8 hours was too long though, 3-6 would have been a better jump I think.
