It's real simple. I'd actually use granny smith apples instead of pears, I like it better now, but you can use either. Basically peel and then slice pretty slim and layer in whatever size casserole dish you want. Put in the juice so it covers the fruit. Use yellow cake mix and put a layer on top, then take about a stick of butter (depends on the size of your dish) and cut in small slices and spread it around on top. Put it in the oven at 350 and keep on eye on it. Should be obvious when to take it out, but about a half hour. It's really good.
