    Geezer Rock. I love it. When I moved into my college dorm back in the 70's this is the music that was playing in the background. I stepped out of my parent's station wagon, looked around and took it all in. Kids everywhere, pretty long hair girls in bell bottoms, someone playing Frisbee with a border collie that had a red bandana around it's neck. So idyllic, I had stepped into a different world. It was a completely different mood than exists today. So free, so optimistic. Such confidence and faith in the future even with Nixon and the war. I can still remember it today more clearly than I remember what I had for dinner last night. CSNY, The Who, Buffalo Springfield during the day and the Beatles, Hendrix, Pink Floyd and Yessongs at night when the party got a little more freaky. Oh and oh my did it get freaky.

      Yep. I started my freshman year in 1971. Boulder, Colorado was a lot different than the Mississippi Delta! On my first visit, I walked into a coed dorm shower. It got real freaky. Stephen and Richie could be seen around town. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

    i saw them in 65/66 ... twice. One time they nearly canceled the show because there were only about 25 people in the audience (San Jose Civic Auditorium.) However they were spectacularly good on every level. Everyone got to go backstage after the concert and watch ,talk, hang out. Their first lp was one of my most played of all time. I had several editions of it incl. the original WITHOUT For What It's Worth.

      I read about that album story, and they removed a song and replaced it with FWIworth on the next pressing, so is that albumen worth much without “ worth”? I believe the same thing happened with Dylan’s first album

    Too Many years of smoking and drinking and drugs have taken their toll on Stephen's voice. a shame he had a great voice.and that's not Nash it's Richie Furay after Springfield he founded a band called Poco, very simular to Buffalo Springfield, it never got it due though it was a great Band.. both bands were the inspiration that led to the Eagles

    Lets see anyone who is 68 play better and sound better than they did in their youth! As we age, our reflexes, joints, muscles and respiratory systems start to weaken. There really is not too much deterioration showing here other than Still's voice. But he did a lot to abuse it when he was younger. It is pretty amazing that he sounds as good as he does!

    L to R, Steve Stills, Richie Furay and Neil Young, core members of the legendary Buffalo Springfield. Singing's a bit off here (and they can all sing) but guitars are spot on and the fire is still there. Takes me back to a better place.

  • @aprilglaspieable
    @aprilglaspieable 11 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    People under the grotesque misapprehension that Neil has been more successful or could carry Steve's guitar jock should STFU. Stills is so far superior on guitar it's just not close. Fact is, they both played pretty much their best together. I mean if you don't count the greatest rhythm part ever that Steve wahed with Clapton. And the song with Jimi was pretty good too.

      @Ram44 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      David Chavers It was so “epic” that they refuse to release it on

    I still love these guys but this seems ill advised at best. Tempo = too slow. Ditching the original awesome acoustic guitar solo/interplay = bad idea. Vocals = painful. Did you forget what happened to the 60s? where "song" became excuse to jam? I like jamming, but not every song should take a "back seat". This is one that shoudn't imho.

      Yes, this particular video is horrible: bad sound, bad camera work, bad arrangements, just bad, bad, bad. A bad idea. I love these guys, too, but every video i've seen of this "reunion" has shown only that they still don't really like playing music together anymore. And, Richie: go back to your little church in Colorado. If you don't get it now, you probably never did.

    • @JefferyEPetrone
      @JefferyEPetrone 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You are familiar that Bluebird was their excuse to jam? You are familiar that in their original run they would play Bluebird for like 20 minutes? Are you familiar at all with this? Or how they have a 9 minute version of Bluebird where they delve into a jam instead of the banjo outro?

    • @enorbet2
      @enorbet2 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Javier76
      I wasn't familiar "that Bluebird was their excuse to jam" and it doesn't matter how long it could get. What matters to me is if the jamming is within the context of the song - OR - just becomes "more of the same ol'" that reduces the song to a launching pad. If this jam would have become integral to and lifted the song then my post would've been kudos. I'm not against jamming, just mindless, passionless filler that diminishes the song from which it sprang instead of exalting it.
      In the hands of Masters jamming is High Art imho and these guys are capable of exactly that. It's a letdown that they fall short here, and on such a beautiful song. One of the prerequisites of High Art is we have to be willing to accept serendipity, that there will be glorious nights and equally horrendous ones, since such risk comes with the territory of Improv.. Too bad this one is in the latter camp.

  • @NonstickMilk
    @NonstickMilk 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Let’s be real; yes it was interesting to watch even though it was 10 years ago when the guys were in their late 60s. The guitar work was great, the vocals were meh.
    But it was also sad to watch. Anyone honest with themselves would understand the guys were performing for one reason only; money. They might have a substantial amount already, and they may also be ass deep in debt.
    I enjoy what I do for a living and have managed my money well enough that when I retire in about 6 more years I will never have to do it again, even if I am still good at it. I plan to do all those things I couldn’t do while I was working the last 40 years. It has nothing to do with growing old, it has everything to do with enjoying life while there is still time to.
    You can’t tell me these musicians still performing in their 60s and 70s are enjoying life. It can’t be fun traveling to a different city and sleeping in hotels while performing the same songs every night at that age. Certainly they would rather watch their children and grandchildren grow up.

    • @jaykay6387
      @jaykay6387 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't think this was a money grab. Neil certainly doesn't need the money, and he subsequently cancelled their planned tour. And of course they don't sound like they did when they were in their twenties, but this was nonetheless amazing. It's melancholy because it makes us so aware of the passage of time, but this performance was anything but sad.

      Wow, what a takedown! (/s) No one is in Dylan's league, because he's got his own, like the Beatles. And aside from the subjective, personal derisions you stoop to mouth, your only objective claim that he hasn't "written a great tune in years" is belied by his winning the 2011 Juno Award for Artist of the Year and the Grammy for Best Rock Song the same year. He accomplished this at age 66, and every decade prior to this going back to the 60s are replete with similar accomplishments. Even in 2014 his album Psychedelic Pill was nominated for Best Rock Album at the Grammy's. That was one year after you posted this, and decades after Rust Never Sleeps.
