this is the first one of these ive seen that doesnt feel like a collection of really weird tight rooms with nothing connecting them. i think it being a crumbling tower homage really helped give it a strong direction. the secrets are especially well done for actually having links to the gimmick of the part of the level that directly precceeds them. a lot of these fan levels have completely random secrets so when you went into the first one after slipping on banana peels and it was entirely based around experimenting with the banana peels i had a big smile. great work!
Most of the secret rooms were just edited areas that the Devs used to test and muck around with mechanics. They basically said "Sh💩t go brrrrr and now you can experience the brrrrr."
Well I tried remaking that in CYOP a while ago on the first version, but it broke. And when I tried testing it on the new version it somehow deleted and broke itself. so yeah lol I might still remake that though
XD Pretty much all of my levels start out as messing around and experimenting and then they become something totally different. That's why a lot of my levels have names like... Well those.
If you tried to spawn him at the beginning of lap 2 and somehow keep avoiding pizzaface, you would not get to the end in time and die because of the war timer.
@@Tanookitoad64gaming Actually I was wrong, you could lap 3 this, you would just have to be very precise and not lose time like this guy did (like at the beginning they slipped on a banana, wasting valuable time) and you could get to the end of lap 3 with barely any time left on the war timer.
Neat level, but I have a bit of unsolicited advice, with such a long level, something that goes a long way in making it feel good is having a mechanical change in the second lap. A good example to draw from in the base game is in WAR, where in the second lap you no longer have the gun, changing the movement and gameplay flow of the level for the second lap. One idea might be making the lap 2 timer comparatively strict to the normal timer, but provide an alternative, faster route through the level that contains none of the collectibles like Toppins or Secrets. Taking the normal route through the level would be too slow for the more difficult timer, but on your first lap you need to get the collectibles, meaning your second run through the level could be totally different from the first.
The other Lap 2 difference in WAR is that since Pizza Time never gets activated, no new enemies spawn, so WAR Lap 2 is about collecting points to keep your combo.
I like how almost every single mechanic is introduced in this level. -the rockets that appear in deep-dish 9 and WAR -The railways from the pig city and pizzascare -checkpoints from RRF (refrigerator refrigerador freezerator) -the pipes from Oh Sh*t! -the knight transformation from pizza scape -the bomb timer from WAR -the animatronics from Don’t make a sound -The barrel from crust cove -cheese platforms from ancient cheese -the water streams from crust cove -the bouncy mushrooms from the gnome forest -the red button from fast food saloon -the ghost transformation from graveyard -that mutated John block that idk how to name that appears at 2:16 from deep dish 9 -the rat balloons from the pig city -the speed pad that appears almost everywhere -the gift box -the olive sphere from deep dish 9 -And last but not least: John from John gutter

You know what would be a wonderful level idea? Where you are forsed to go into lap 2 but lap 2 has a different path than the first lap Meaning that you have to play 2 entirely different levels while still having enough time to make it to the end
It feels very Portal 2. You have a timer until certain doom, then a different manner of certain doom happens, and then another manner of certain doom comes into prominence is done when the second manner of certain doom is suddenly shoved out of the way.
Excellent level. Epic usage of all the element the game provides and the flow of the run is seamless. There were multiple portions of the level that captured that platformer-intuition feel to "puzzles" that you quickly solve by understanding what elements change at a glance and adapting quickly. The use of the computers for a double timer is quite interesting, making sure you have an overall timer and after a certain point you have to do things much quicker, amping up the difficulty and risk of any mistakes. The secret placement is absolutely amazing, they actually felt like secrets you'd find in the OG, fitting the level design in clever ways and the secrets themselves were actually pretty ok. However, this level has the same issue most custom levels have, where the timer doesn't really matter for shit and is extremely fucking lenient almost becoming meaningless. To be fair, the performance of the player in this was better than most and very few time losses were taken, although not perfect. Such performance merits a timer sub 1 minute but closer to 40 or 50 seconds depending on how tight the level is intended to be (which considering the double timer I'd wager it wants to be rather tight, so maybe closer to 30 seconds would be best for this performance) left on the clock. But oh what a surprise, the overall clock was at 1 min 50s, which is A FUCKING FUCK TON of time left, removing all stakes and making the damn clock nearly useless and just a soft wall for anyone who trully fucks up the entire level. Even worse is the supposed second timer, which ends at a whooping 3min 37sec, NOTHING like the iconic War level timer that always ends near 20 sec for P-ranks (and 1 min if you actually take every possible timeskip with no mistakes and judging the exact amount of score you need for an S-rank*). The other common thing it shares with most fan-made levels is the excessive use of rows of rats, although at least it doesnt do collectible double lines too much. The levels of pizza tower do sometimes use these elements, but they are used sparingly to give the player a neat boost of dopamine on certain sections usually after a tricky puzzle involving the level's new mechanic, but abusing this too much only makes the level feel cluttered, thoughtless and may slow down lower end PCs. So considering its REALLY good high points and the really 2 basic mistakes it incurrs I'd give this level an (S-)/P. *Do not confuse this with doing the +1min left on the clock achievement for War, which doesn't require any rank and you can skip secrets where the timer never stops ticking, P-ranking with the achievement isnt impossible but you pretty much have not just never make mistakes but also skip everything you can.
the extra time on the war timer being overkill was an accident that I haven't fixed yet lol it's meant to have less time but there's some really thin and pretty much invisible terminals that are hard to select and delete. I'll try fix that soon probably
@@frostyfoxteals I wouldn't even bother mentioning it if it wasn't such a prevalent thing in most fan level designs. There is a penchant for overusing assets just because you can, and that diminishes the novelty or surprise of seeing it on another level. It also like I said makes the placement feel a little thoughtless. It's a minor pet-peeve. I do think it would feel better with a few less rats. Quality over quantity, and choosing where you do a row of them for most effect basically.
@@frostyfoxteals I wasn't even aware that it was not part of the level design tools the game gives you, if it really is one of those things where there's a hidden value you pretty much have to look up for yourself I think I'll be a little less critical of it. The idea of the timer ontop of the timer is pretty novel and if you manage to fix it, it'll make it very unique. Knowing you have to finish 2 runs in a certain fixed time but also worrying about meeting a time quota between computers is intense. Suffice to say amazing work so far. I definitely am remembering this level above most other fan-made levels.
Why do I see so many people put unfindable secrets into their levels. You have some resemblance of a hint at 3:15 where the bricks tell you the location of the secret if you even notice them. You built the level so you know exactly where you put the secrets but aint nobody playing this level ever finding those dude 💀you cant expect people to just know in which wall to run into and then also while under time pressure. The 3rd secret is relatively alright because there are no other wall decorations but 1 and 2 need some hints. This is my only major complaint of the level.
well i can't really do anything about it, either this or no war timer at all. (not like i can just disable pizza time) but yeah i get what you mean it is a bit annoying
Yeah it's probably because in Pizza tower each level has an escape time limit in the code and because custom levels obviously aren't included in that, the timer bar fill just bases itself off of CTOP. Reason I believe that is that if you set the timer longer than 5 minutes, (the escape limit for CTOP) the fill does exactly what you saw there, but if you set it lower than 5, the fill starts already halfway through (depending on how much time you set) Hope you understood that essay I just wrote xd
