Realized that since John isn't in this level, he can't spawn extra enemies, so you'd have to rely on collecting clocks to maintain the combo. Tough stuff
That makes me wonder. The primary purpose Peppino comes to any level is to knock down its Pillar John and thus bring the Pizza Tower closer to falling apart. But the War level doesn't have Pillar John. Why did Peppino go there? (actually, now that I think about it, the War level is probably brought down by the bomb instead)
You don’t realize this because of the fast paced nature of the level but for some bizarre reason Gustavo and brick are in the level where periodically Gustavo fires brick out of an rpg to help clear the way for peppino. It’s nice to see that Gustavo isn’t a fair weathered friend and will be there for peppino every step of the way, even through peppino’s PTSD.
This level was a MASSIVE difficulty spike for me, largely because it alters Peppino’s moveset in a way that tampers with my muscle memory. Combine that with the strict time limit especially if you’re going for secret rooms, and it’s balls-to-the-wall difficult.
I found it easy to get the skip the secret rooms durring the first lap then to get them on my 2nd lap although I quite literally made it to the goal within a few milliseconds
There’s something eerie about how none of the enemies in this level respawn on lap 2. So you can spend The first lap running wild with the shotgun, but then when you discard the gun start the second lap, the whole level is empty. Obviously some enemies can remain and some spawn endlessly for puzzles, but still.

I already said this in a reply, but I think War is the place where John and Peppino are being cloned. The War-like setting is meant to deter Peppino. It also explains why John is absent in this level.
What I like are the small things in this level. You don’t lose points constantly like during the Pizza Time segments of the level since the whole level is already a timed one. Also, once you lose the shotgun when going through Lap 2, notice how Peppino has that smug “heh-heh! Somebody’s about to face my wrath” hud on the TV; the one you would see if you increase your combo. Usually for the Pizza Time segments, he would have that: “HOLY CRAP I NEED TO GET OUT OF HERE FAST!” hud, but not in this case.
The theming of this level is on point. Everything about it, from the timer ticking away, the mines and the army pizzas, the pizza tanks, the genetically cloned fake peppinos, and the intense music as the timer ticks away. Not only that, but the enemies are still pizza. Like every other level in the game, no matter what theming, the game still slaps fucking pizza on it. It’s…absolutely brilliant.
I like how you practically need to have Peppino’s moveset down to a science to do this level properly Also the absence of John the Pillar means this level is constantly on the verge of collapsing
As hard as this level is, just the fact that up to this point, the game has been relatively goofy and just a dude trying to get stuff done. However, going into this level is what tests him, making him relive his traumatic memories of battle. Couple that with the amazing darksynth styled music, the shotgun that sounds like a train collision every time you fire it, and the bomb that ticks constantly, but the beeps of it always fit with the music. This level is what reminds you that this isn’t a game for Peppino, it’s officially a war. And I wouldn’t be surprised it this is what contributes to his complete anger filled meltdown during the final boss fight.
I find it funny how fake peppino is litterally the only boss to appear as an obstacle in a normal level unlike noise, vigilante or pepperman (the pizza guy doesn't count)

Considering the timer and the theme of the level, I'm gonna assume Peppino was part of a bomb squad during the war. Something must've went wrong, however, and now he has a severe phobia of timers.
To me, the hardest part of this level wasn't P-Ranking it, it was beating it. Having to go from "Speed is optional" to "Speed is a must" threw me for a loop until I got enough muscle memory to beat it, then I wound up P-Ranking it trying to get the "3 Damage or Less" achivement

theres a lot of things to love about this level, but a primary thing to love is there's very few rng elements or even things you have to remember to p rank it, everything is visible at one point, all it takes is for you to get to them
I got the P rank at the last second, but this level was way easier to me than most other P ranks, probably because it's not that long and the secrets are in plain sight
now that I think of it how did the noise know about this level or any level when making the movie My guess is the movie was a documentary and he just recorded himself going through the pizza tower but I have no clue
This one was actually a lot of fun to just run. Didn't really go over the footage on this one to see how to run it speedily. Made P rank within about 20 minutes.
You know its serious when even pizza time clock stops in secret rooms and treasure rooms, while WAR clock always runs no matter what. P rank in WAR is a very good achievement and difficulty equivalent to completing a boss

One of the easiest levels to get a P-rank but fun as hell. And what a great lap 2! So relaxing, no enemies untill the end, the way is kinda free. Nice.
theres a lot of things to love about this level, but a primary thing to love is there's very few rng elements or even things you have to remember to p rank it, everything is visible at one point, all it takes is for you to get to them
secret 1: 1:28
secret 2: 2:10
secret 3: 3:16
Gerome: 0:45
Treasure room: 3:53
Pizzaface: We’ll give him a gun, just to be fair
The enemies: *WHAT HAVE YOU DONE*
30 minutes or else the artillery is free
This was the only level I managed to P-rank on my own.
This time, I'm here not for guidance, but to simply enjoy, and see how someone else did it.
👍
NO PEPPINO, DONT ACTIVATE YOUR PTSD AGAIN
I got the P rank at the last second, but this level was way easier to me than most other P ranks, probably because it's not that long and the secrets are in plain sight
6:56 MAN that sync was just golden
I like when Gustavo just appering from no where and launch from rocket launcher Brick (the rat)
I love that the secret treasure of this level is a box of calorie mate.
You have to realize how much of an asshole Pizzaface was to weaponize Peppino's PTSD against him in a zone as a last ditch effort to stifle him.
now that I think of it how did the noise know about this level or any level when making the movie
My guess is the movie was a documentary and he just recorded himself going through the pizza tower but I have no clue
Every other level gets old for me eventually but this one never changes
Yeah, war... war never changes
"It's time to chew ass!"
- Peppino, Pizza Tower
This one was actually a lot of fun to just run. Didn't really go over the footage on this one to see how to run it speedily. Made P rank within about 20 minutes.
You know its serious when even pizza time clock stops in secret rooms and treasure rooms, while WAR clock always runs no matter what.
P rank in WAR is a very good achievement and difficulty equivalent to completing a boss
I love how the climax of the song happens at the same time as you enter the last area of the level
The clock ticks down. Will you escape, or go down in flames?
real fotage of niko playing pizza tower
Pizzaface really hittin pepino where it hurts
This isn't a funny assignment in a quirky class with a fun teacher, this is the final exam on How To Pizza Tower.
Fun fact: the secret song was renamed from “A War Secret” to “My Secret War Crimes”
2:35 my combo streak keeps ending here because of the lack of enemies and timers to keep it alive until 2:40
press the direction and the run button at the same time while in the rocket to go faster
also, let Gustavo kill one of the soldiers
This level is one of the few times where I felt genuinely angry while playing a video game
War... War never changes
War is hell
This Channel carried my S and P ranks, thanks man.
WAR: the level of constant pizza time
I like the fact that peppino it's suffering and being traumatized by the timer and the level, and the combo just says 1:17
We making out of war with this banger song
the secrets aren't secrets
They didn't bring Peppino to the war, they brought the war to Peppino!
6:21 you can tell hes desperatly trying to beat the level as the timer goes lower and lower and lower
I like how the peppino cloning factory may or may not give you insight into fake peppinos origin. What I don't like is that all the people of the Internet are going to gang up on me and call me a bot as soon as they see this comment
If Peppino IS a war veteran, my headcanon is that he had the highest kill count in the entire Italian army, being the juggernaut he is.
