- Music Producer MISTABISHI has released WRITE:READ; the first album of electronic dance music created exclusively on and for the Korg ElecTribe EMX-1!
The set can be played directly from the EMX-1 exactly as programmed by MISTABISHI. You can also remix, add or remove elements to blend MISTABISHI’s beats with your own music creations.
The patterns were originally created for dance music parties in London and Europe, and have been produced to an immaculate standard for a contemporary audience by a seeding artist in the field.

I have that same Electribe and for the life of me, I cant figure how he managed to get those sound outta this thing! Some tutorials would be VERY VERY VERY Helpful!!! :)

I've always found Korg Electribes confusing especially compared to other grooveboxes from Yamaha and Roland - probably how much brain works :) this box can sound good as evidenced by certain presents and has hands on controls. Korg lost their way with the Electribe 2 but this is probably the ones that's worth our patience :)

all the hate aside, you gotta give mistabishi credit. this is some phenomenal work. i cant begin to imagine the creative and artistic skill hours thrown into programming all these sequences. its kinda what inspired me to get an emx1 lol except i make uk hardcore with it. i dont have the appropriate skill to program elaborate sequences like these.
this Electribe along with MicroKorg were my first synths back in 2011. It is an amazing device, truly an instrument!

The reason this electribe is the highlight now of the range to buy into... It features a awesome modelled tube style overdrive in the filter section of each x5 monosynth tracks. That drive knob & sound effects the filters character... in a very similar way to the real valves sound & character at the main outputs? The combination of the modelled overdrives in the filters of the x5 synth parts. Plus the tube overdrive of the main outputs... Makes the EMX-1 stand out for being the electribe with a big set of balls... of them all!

You have to appreciate the countless hours of work in this masterpiece. Legendary emx patterns by JP. This is as real as it gets with modern day hardware music production. This is the type of stuff amateurs will pull from software presets and loops and think they produced something.
Every one copy every one in music... For the type of sound, synth loop, beat and... Cos mainstream song are limit to gender people like and people are inspired by the muscian they loved... 2nd thing with analog device, you are limited too the machine...

Sounds incredible. I came from listening to other EMX creations...pretty amazing sound....but then I'm easily pleased, I just finished listening to the best the SH4d can offer...and it aint this. But the two will complement each other beautifully (note, I own both and nearly sold both until I heard creations such as these being made with them. I cannot believe what has been hidden from me all this time 😢😮😅😂😊

Yup. The 128 steps/8 bar is lovely innit. Extra freedom. Damn those 4 bar loops. I also owned an Sh4d and wasn’t overly impressed. But love my emx blue beast from the gods. Electriboss i name him/her!!!!!

Best groovebox ever! Just add an external reverb an model D for fat sounds and you get e perfect combo to produce all styles!

@@ThomBa23 no not joking. For groove machines/grooveboxes, it's regaining popularity. This was some5thing that i know was scoffed at back in the day when the audio drivers were paper cones and high current amps weren't yet the norm for small desktop devices. But now a company like AKAI has released just that in their LIVE2. Yes the amplifier and stereo monitors are built in and battery driven for ultimate portability and quality monitoring, it's a highly respectable device and does the classic brand justice

You make this sing. You are lucky to have a stable working one! I'm on my 5th. This one was Japan model and its 100% working as intended. No weird digi pot drift or anything either. Brilliant and painstaking work you have done my friend. You sure can't hide an EMX1 sound though... some day ppl will be making hardware to try to copy this in-your-face digi tube-crunched sound. lol and up go the prices for originals

Amazing set, such meticulous work, craftsmanship and flow. A joy from beginning to end. Each time I listen to some EMX-1 songs, I'm freshly surprised at the sound quality it is able to produce.

I agree, I own that very same electribe but cant get anything half as complex written on it! It's clearly got TONS of potential but it takes INSANE amounts of practice to get tracks like that outta it!!!

Have had mine through three sets of tubes and few extra knobs. Use d to run the esx 1 emx 1 kaossilator pro through each other. Excellent.

Pretty impressive. I own a Korg EMX myself, but i was always kind of unsatisfied with the synth section. There is no polyphonic sequencing and the sounds in general sounded to "flat" to me. This vid however shows, that you can get a lot out of this box, if you tweak it right...
If this machine was polyphonic then it would truly be the ultimate.

EMX seem to be selling for ridiculous money, twice the cost of brand new E2. Cool video.
It's because EMX has 8 bars.
I bought an ESX-1 new in 2004 and I owned it for 2 years before selling it. For me it was the best. Such a great tool for creativity. But after 10 years without any machines I bought the ES-2 in black and holy smokes it is way more stable and powerful. It just takes a long time to learn all of its capabilities. I still discover functions all the time. Even 6 years later!
@@JohnSmith-cc5zn I did that with AN1X, I just missed it too much and re bought it 10 years later and I will never ever sell it again. I understand.. the other ones I really regret selling are ESX-R and Z1, also FS1R but the money for those is beyond stupid now so will do without. A lot of yamaha products for me but of course the Z1 was Korg's modelling keyboard. Might be able to get one of those again at a decent price with some patience.

Nice xoxboxing, super MX'ing it up... I've been using these for 17yrs now. I do battle boxing with another friend, & we pair & layer up x2 EMX-1's & a couple of other 303 clones, adrenalinn3 & some lexicon pcm90 & Ensoniq DP4 fx units. I have TH-cam videos uploaded if that's seems interesting to ya... If people only knew just how cheap these got down to for grabbing 4-6yrs ago... Most now, would kick themselves twice for knowing? Lol

I didn’t know the electribe could do 128 steps per pattern. Cool. Would be great to sequence the minilogue with this...better yet, maybe KORG could put a few more steps into the minilogue. Am I asking too much of KORG?
That could likely be done in firmware update. Maybe a programmer could cook the firmware to program in the 128steps option. If you decide to go with it, make sure you stay on top of it and don't restart the process several times within 6 months because you forgot the last instructions to finalize the hack. I always do that, get distracted and get tired and forget what steps I was on so I have like 8 PCs laying around waiting to be worked on. Trying to help

How does the new korg ones compare/hold up to this awesome machine and is the sampler and from the same era just as good? I am literally blown away by the sounds coming out of. this groovebox!

Where's the reverb coming from? Korg ESX/EMX reverb is very noise and unnatural.

If im not mistaken it came out a bit after roland mc 505, I. never even bothered looking at them - now i see that may have been a mistake - this is truly great! Although the drums sounds like samples and not default sounds of a groovebox...am I wrong???
@@AnalogFlava Don't know about the master compressor, but normally there is. It's 5 years younger than the mc 505 as far as I remember but sounds much "deeper". The EMX-1 has no sampler capabilities, so it must be default sounds with tweaking.
I'm really curious what is sampled and what sounds you can synthesize with the korg itself
this is a rompler, no sampling, no synthesis, only what you have inside =that is build in sound samples

You don't even know what you're talking about. It has a built in synthesizer engine called "MMT - Multiple Modeling Technology", it generates its own sounds, beside the PCM samples.
