Hello, in this video i am sharing my first impressions of the Behringer Pro-800 and give a brief overview over its functions. The sound was recorded directly from the mono output without any effects.
I’ve always felt very iffy about the ethics of Behringer, but I think I’ve discovered that an 8-voice analogue synth for £300 instead of £2000 is how much it takes for me to not care about ethics any more..
@@pickyyeeter in a perfect world, I would buy the Prophet 6 desktop over this (not least because it’s almost certainly better overall). It does feel nasty buying knockoffs, especially when they’re made by a company as big as Behringer who have the ability to bury the smaller companies who actually come up with the originals. But at the same time.. yeah, £2000 for the Prophet 6, vs £300 for this. Realistically I’m never gonna buy a Prophet 6 - they’ve priced themselves beyond my wallet - so I suppose you could ask how much in practice Behringer are actually hurting people’s business.
I feel you, but I don't think this and a P6 are in the same league, sonically speaking. The Monopoly clone is just about spot on though, don't ask me why.

This is killer for $400usd. I have too many synths already. These are the times I wish I was just starting out. I would get this for the big sounds. However, I am waiting for the "U-berheim" .

It definitely sounds retro. It's on my "maybe" list - I have resolved not to buy any more synths until I have mastered programming on all the synths I already own! 🙄
@@_thevaporz Yeah, but I realised maybe a little late that buying all the "no brainer" Behringer bargains was starting to get very expensive by the time I'd bought their 5th clone..... That said, I am eyeing up this one...
great video! Super glad you talked about the different envelope shapes. I saw a video where someone talked about the slow envelopes, very nice that this is included. Does anyone know, if the LFO has Key Sync and/or Midi Sync? if has those behringer will definitly get my money on this.
Exactly what I thought. In the other video he said that the release stops suddenly. But he didn’t get the envelope menu. That was a no for me. Now I know better and still hesitating but I think I will crack some time. 😬

@@SPAZZOID100 I sold it because it was so basic that I got bored with it. My Rev2 is a much better synth and sounds just like the 600 if you don't add effects.

very cool stuff! I just got one myself. How do you know all the funtions inside the menus? I cant find anything in the manual as there is only a quick start availible, Thanks for the tutorials!
It’s working as every other synth with presets and SysEx dump. It will overwrite what is stored in the memory and the new presets will be placed in bank b from 00 to 05. Then you can load them from there. Of course the controls are not reflecting the stored values of a preset.
? Pardon my ignorance, but what part of this synths signal flow is actually stereo? How would they achieve a stereo output and not just another output with the same exact signal? I’m sorry I just don’t get it. Just to compare, the reason I think the Juno-106 had a stereo output was just for the benefit of the chorus effect, remove that and it would be mono too.
@@titovalasques There is a mod for the Prophet 600, which takes each voice signal befor the point they are mixed together and gives you a pan-pot for each voice and a stereo output. This is especially cool in the unisono mode, less in polyphone mode
I bought one of these recently and every video on TH-cam I have seen, when people twist one of the knobs, it shows the value on the LED panel, but mine doesn't do this. It just always shows the preset number. Is there a way to enable this?
Gute Frage, ich kann leider nicht mehr direkt vergleichen aber aus meiner Erinnerung heraus würde ich sagen: Für manche Sounds ja, für andere keinesfalls. Mein alter Prophet 5 hatte doch noch einen sehr viel schöneren Filtersound und auch mehr "Schnappdizität" in den Envelopes ;-) Trotzdem, ich bin beeindruckt was zu dem Preis so möglich ist. Und ich bin verknallt in den PWM Sound von der Kiste.
That connector is called USB B. :D USB 2, or 2.0, is mainly about speed and various features that weren't in 1.0 and that 3.1 and 3.2 have that 2.0 does not. When it comes to connector shape, though, USB B is that square shaped one that most audio gear uses.
A lot of people aren't cool enough to use Behringer because they aren't cool or unique enough on their own so they try to front some coolness from their gear.
Because there’s many other Polysynths on the market which have a much wider range of possibilities. That’s my subjective impression. Functionality wise It’s not as deep and complex as for instance a Prophet 6 or Rev-2. Plus, at the point when I made the video, the firmware was a very early one. Later improvements raised the flexibility for sounds a bit.
Like the sound … for this price … I think , about built quality, you can have problems with the push buttons over time. (Such as unreadable text ) behringer should make this more on a higher level quality …

If you don't want to support Behringer, then wait a year and buy it used. They see no money from it and you save some money yourself.
So rare for a demo to just be the DRY sound & I appreciate that.
Thanks for the raw sounds; no third-party effect processing, I'm not sure if I'll pull the trigger on this one; but for sure on the UB-Xa!

Anyone who says this and other vintage style synths are limited is cray cray. This thing is very versatile as far as i can tell just from this video.

They might have put the price back up by the time you want one due to demand, its a giveaway price right now, I paid more for a mono.

Your video ist the best of All! My pro800 arrived save. But after start I always have to tune it and after 20 minutes again, but then its ok

Best 600 for less. I own this synth and I'am very proud of it. Nice Vid, bro.
The Prophet 600 was my first poly-synth. It was loud and proud but the features are very basic when compared to modern synths.
The Pro800 has a few more features, like the addition of noise, 2 extra voices and snappier envelopes (that's the Gligli mod part).
basic is good
Some of us adore raw analog tones.

There’s a manual for the prophet 600 gligli mod which has some information about the parameters. I found it with google.

Yea you still have the signal on the normal mono-output but additionally 6 pan-pots and a stereo out. Really good work by the developers!

No, both the Pro-800 and the Keystep Pro are connected to the computer 🙂

Did you check the settings menus? I think you need to press settings, then 7 for one or two times to enable it. On mine it was enabled by default.

You should have ordered it from Germany, I did that when the RD-8 came out and got it many months before Sweetwater had it
