    Good job. My HVAC tech quoted me $300 to install a thermostat. I’ve worked the past six years with a master electrician. I laughed. A ten minute job for $300. Glad guys like you post these vids. Saving the home owner some money. If you have a heat pump there will be six low voltage wires at the stat. Again, good job. Cheers!

      I have my AC guy come out and install this exact thermostat for him to come out wire it up and install it was about $139 so I was happy. How long does this battery last I’m just curious because I’ve had it for a year and a half and have not had to change the battery yet I’m not a tech type of guy on DIYS guess it looks like you just pull it straight off the wall and put the batteries in and put it back on? I seen another video where you have to get the batteries put in under two minutes or it would need reprogramming so it should not take that long I figure 30 seconds should do it?

    I've been putting this off because it looked more complicated than it was. When I watched your video I knocked it out in less than 30 minutes. The only downside was the look my wife gave me when it was so easy to do and I put it off for so long. The next project I have that's a little over my head I'll be checking back in well done.

    Does this Honeywell T2 work with heat pumps? Also, my old thermostat was a T6. It has a yellow wire. Do I simply not use it? I hope you can get back to me on this.

    • @ShowMeConstruction

    W. Heat
    Y. Condenser control power / cooling mode
    G. Fan
    C common
    O reversing valve for heat pump
    S temp sensor
    Most of the wires are color-coded to match the terminals , but every once in a while people use different colors on different terminals, but usually the terminals are as stated above!!!!
    Picture check both ends one being on the back of the thermostat and the other at the control board of the furnace just to keep you from having any problems in case someone has splice the wires for some kind of repair in the past!!!!

      Also the solid copper thermostat wires are very brittle do not twist and yank are you will have a intermittent connection inside the wire insulation of the wires and can be a head ache to find ! Specially if it’s intermittent working sometimes and not working other times so be careful the wires are delicate it’s a good to always cut them back three or 4 inches if you have room before you install the new thermostat just so you don’t have that problem🦧

    Installing two new ones right now. Video is helpful. However, I would have mentioned that some of us don't have a "blue" wire. However, I see you connected your "blue" wire to the "yellow" connector. I have 4 wires: white, red, green and yellow (no blue). So for me, I'll just connect the "yellow" to the "yellow". For other viewers, you can see in his close up connection image he connected the "blue" to the "yellow" location, but didn't say so. Overall, good video!!

    Wouldn't you want to patch the wall around the wire entrance before installing the thermostat? Otherwise, you'd just have to take the thermostat right back off to fix the wall. Also, did you make sure that it was level? I didn't see you place a level on it. The instruction booklet suggests using a torpedo level. This is constructive criticism, your video has helped me, I'm just trying to clarify a couple points. Thank you.

    • @ShowMeConstruction
      @ShowMeConstruction  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can patch the hole before. Whatever works for your wall. I didn't use a level because I have done this type of work for so long but some people may definitely benefit from using a level. All thermostats are digital now and no longer use a mercury switch so it's really not to necessary to use a level. Thanks for watching!
