I’ve been carrying and using Glocks over 30 years. I love them. I wish they did more than incremental / generational changes. Other companies have left them behind in so many ways but it is still tough to beat the original and gold standard in polymer striker fired pistols.
@@bloodycrepe Doesnt innovate, doesnt create models to shoot shooters needs. Glock cant compete on its own without the aftermarket. Every modern gun today can meet "glock reliability" and has surpassed glocks in round counts and military testing/trials. The rest of the world has caught up for the same price(and arguably much less than what glock charges)with better materials. Glock was born in the 80s and stayed in the 90s. But hey it takes glock mags.
@@TheJackmilla I hear the doesn't "innovate" argument over and over again but I do not buy it. Can you list exactly what other manufactures have innovated in modern handguns compared to Glock? Your other points are very subjective.
@@bloodycrepe Different adjustable grip panels, optics plates, gun cases with a heap of accessories, extra mags out the box, better serrations, improved recoil mechanisms, and if any shooters request or give feedback then youll see future models released with those ideas put into place. All of this at the same price of a glock or less(maybe a tad more in some cases).
It's a full sized service weapon. Add a red dot sight and a tactical light and you're all set. My girl actually prefers the Glock 21 because she likes a grip that fills both of her hands and she loves shooting it!
I find it interesting you left out the Gen 2 guns which many of us considered the best of the series. This Gen 5 might finally be a true upgrade from the Gen 2s and worth adding to "stable".
I love my Model 20 Gen 5 compared to my Gen 4 and SF pistols. It's amazing how much difference removing the finger grooves makes on the grip geometry. I love the Gen 5 more than any of the others. You did mention that yours came with Adapter "Plates". Mine only came with one, with a paper that had a QR code on it for Glocks Website. Is that how they're going now or did you get all of the major plates with yours?
That's interesting. Yes, all the plates were included with my sample. I would have preferred the Model 20 but they had the G21 available. , even though I also wanted the G21 as well. Thanks again

I might look into this one I had a Gen 4 G21 my biggest issue was in the grip and after shooting my m&p 45 for a while going back to the G21 was tough because the m&p 45 is much slimmer than the G21 so maybe the Gen 5 G21 will be good if not hopefully they will release the Gen 5 G41
Great video. You highlighted why Glocks are popular for real shooters. I get a good laugh reading ignorant comments about how Glock doesn’t innovate and all models are the same.
@@cleetismcdougall5425 I love the 1911 platform and I’ve carried a steel frame commander for my CCW. Over the years, however, I transitioned to carrying GLOCKs predominantly. I think of GLOCKs as a handgun design platform, much like the 1911, and as such you would not expect a revolutionary change in the design. It would no longer be a GLOCK at that point. The changes will be evolutionary and never deviate far from the original design, much like the 1911 over the last 100 years+.
@@dankeglock that’s what I have, a steel frame Commander with the Wilson Combat catalog of parts in it. I’m use to carrying Glocks so that much weight just doesn’t make sense to me. I do shoot better with the 1911 though.
On the one hand, I'm annoyed this came out less than a year after I had my G21 milled for a RMR. On the other hand, Battlewerks did an OUTSTANDING job milling my G21 for a custom fit.
Well done review & +1 on giving that one a home. Let's hope Glock will not leave customers hanging (e.g., magazines) with the 25/28 limited run in the US.
I own a lot of 1911s and the G21 is one of my favorite guns. It very soft shooting and accurate. It’s one of the best guns in the GLOCK line, in my opinion. If you have a local range that rents guns, give it a try.
Great video sir! Speaking on aftermarket support for Glocks, the large frame models don’t have near the support as the smaller frames. Try and find an aftermarket trigger for a G21/20. Not many choices. Take care.
One thing I can say is when you fire the G21 you know what pure power is. The feel of the function between my G45 and My G21 is night and day. The design of the G21 gives you the confidence of shooting a high caliber pistol. I would like to try the G20 Gen 5 w/the mos. Wow my first red dot built capable on a pistol. Well other than my MCK w/a Gen 5 G17 as a donor for the build. The red dot is on the Pic rail of the MCK.
I gotta say I do love the removal of the finger grooves, I love my Glock 21 gen 3 but I have large hands so I had overhang holding it most of the time. Really love the New Gen 5, great pistol!
I love my Gen 5 but there's something about the generation 3 SF model. The recoil impulse, and the smooth buttery action of the slide with the Gen 3 is something special. Not to mention the octagonal barrel!
Got this as my first pistol since I have larger hands. The tiny frames on other models gave me some issues when holding. Shot it like a champ and was easy to control with the customizable back strap.
Follow the basic rules of gun safety and take your time when holstering the firearm and you’ll never have an issue. GLOCKs are very safe firearms. Once you understand the GLOCK design and train with it, you’ll appreciate the point-and-shoot capability of the GLOCK, particularly for self defense applications.
WHY? YOU DO NOT NEED A THUMB SAFETY! ALL THE GLOCKS COME WITH 3 DIFFERENT SAFETIES IN EACH GUN! THERE IS ONE IN THE SLIDE, THE TRIGGER AND SOMEWHERE ELSE. LOOK IT UP.. Gun reviewers get way too hung up on “innovation”. Glock made a pistol that took almost 40 years for anyone to come close to catching up. Nothing wrong with minor generational changes as long as its still a Glock.
I just bought one. It's amazing! One big hole in the center of the target at 10 yards slow fire. I wish I could upload the photo I took! Oh, and regular Sights! I haven't put my red dot on it yet.
I have the Gen 4 G21. I like the big grip I even put the extended grip with the beavertail on mine. I even put a hogue grip with the finger grooves on it as well. When I fire it I have a great grip on it. I have big hands'. I did put night sights on it. The big drawback from 4 to 5 is the mos slide. I have a lot of confidence in my shooting ability with hard sights. I do keep a light on my G21. I have no red dots on any of my glocks. I do have a red laser/light combo on my G45. That's very nice. Finding a EDC holster was a challenge. I went with a HAWG holster for my EDC. The guy actually designed the IWB holster for my G45 with the light/laser combo.

Not sure why but a lot of barrel makers have been discontinuing these convention barrels for the G21?
@@jonbaniak9097i really hope not. I just bought a Gen5 G21 with full intentions of purchasing a 10mm barrel as well as a threaded barrel in 45acp but everything i find online isnt compatible with gen5. It just came out in 2023 so maybe they just havent manufactured them yet?
I’ve been carrying and using Glocks over 30 years. I love them. I wish they did more than incremental / generational changes. Other companies have left them behind in so many ways but it is still tough to beat the original and gold standard in polymer striker fired pistols.
Tough to beat? It's basically the worst gun on the market compared to it's competition 🤣
@@maximusjoseppi5904 in what way exactly?
I've got the gen 4. Was my first .45. So very awesome. May still get the gen 5, definitely need the gen 5 20.
I gotta have it! I luv .45 ACP and the kick it has to it. Great in-depth review once again Sootch! 💪
I absolutely love my Glock Gen 3 21C 45 ACP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just wish that 45 Ammo would go down in price. Long Live The Republic,Soocth00 !!!!!!!!!
I can see owning one of these- what a beast
I wish there was a compact model with the grip of the 19 or 45.
Me too.
This Gun is on my list to buy this Year. Thanks for the video.
Finally, a Gen 5 Glock in .45 ACP
The death ray.
Best review of 20/21 Gen5 so far, thanx.
I find it interesting you left out the Gen 2 guns which many of us considered the best of the series. This Gen 5 might finally be a true upgrade from the Gen 2s and worth adding to "stable".
We need a gen 5 glock 30
Glock 21 is an amazing gun, i had the pleasure to shoot this gun, in a shooting range in Houston, TX. I enjoyed too much this experience.
I had a gen 3 G20 for years and I agree the 2x4 grip is unnecessary.
@@sootch00 I have the G20 Gen5!
have you considered the fnp 45 14 rounds 45 amp optic cut night sight can be carried cock and lock or lower the hammer and is double single
Thanks, Sootch00! Another great video- I really appreciate all you do- I've purchased many Glocks (and other great firearms) based on your thorough and very entertaining reviews!!
Love your videos, man. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Joshua!
I’ve been waiting for that one!
Like him i am waiting for the Gen 5 Model 30. Great video.
Thanks Brother!
And a lot of them are the same folks that will tell you how much better a 1911 is. 😂
@@dankeglock a 1911 is one of my favorite target pistols. Way too heavy to carry though
I have the G30 gen4 and the G41 gen4 for home defense . G41 is also for going into the woods . But I carry my former service G19 everyday 🇺🇸
On the one hand, I'm annoyed this came out less than a year after I had my G21 milled for a RMR. On the other hand, Battlewerks did an OUTSTANDING job milling my G21 for a custom fit.
Environmentally friendly, the plastic is now edible.
😂. Eat up family
😂
What do you mean "now?" I already ate my Gen 3. 🤦♂️
OMG😂
Bon apetit :-)
Well done review & +1 on giving that one a home.
Let's hope Glock will not leave customers hanging (e.g., magazines) with the 25/28 limited run in the US.
Thanks Copper!
Was looking at getting my first Glock. I think this has jumped to the top of the list
I own a lot of 1911s and the G21 is one of my favorite guns. It very soft shooting and accurate. It’s one of the best guns in the GLOCK line, in my opinion. If you have a local range that rents guns, give it a try.
Got this with 3 mags and a loader for $575 so it’s definitely a good deal for an solid accurate pistol
Outstanding video review. I have watched it 3 times and not only do I have the moxie but now I have the gun !!!
I have had my Glock 21 SF Gen 3 and it is a work horse.... however, seeing this, I may end up getting the Gen 5 version.
How about some Slimline tech application for those with the smaller hands? 10-shot G48 but in .45ACP might be kinda cool….
Glock needs to release a G36X - a full size grip with a slimline design.
Woot!
Great Review as always. Whenever I see a Glock 21, I'm reminded of "Justified" and Ralyan Givens.
Got this as my first pistol since I have larger hands. The tiny frames on other models gave me some issues when holding. Shot it like a champ and was easy to control with the customizable back strap.
I’m a big guy and this thing disappears in the appendix area with the right holster. I Love it!!
I am kind of a newbie .. but I just wish Glock would have a thumb safety - at least as an option...
JUST TYPE IN THE SEARCH BOX OF GOOGLE OR TH-cam : THE BUILT IN SAFETIES IN A GLOCK.... KEEP IN MIND ALSO, THAT THE GLOCK GUN DESIGN IS THE BEST, PROVEN, MOST RELIABLE, CONSISTENTLY RELIABLE, ACCURATE, AND EFFICIENT COMBAT HANDGUN EVER MADE! SERIOUSLY THAT IS A WORLD WIDE KNOWN FACT! AND HAS BEEN FOR OVER 40yrs NOW! ALL THE OTHER GUNS TAKE THEIR DESIGNS FROM GLOCK! SO UNDERSTAND THAT THERE IS NO MORE RELIABLE GUN FOR YOU TO HAVE OR USE THAN A GLOCK! IN ANY WEATHER, TERRAIN, OR CONDITION, IT WILL BE THE ONLY TOOL YOU NEED, IF YOU EVER NEED IT! JUST MAKE SURE YOU ARE TRAINING AND KNOW HOW TO USE IT!
Clear, Concise and Informative. Thank you.
Can't wait for Wheaton Arms to make the gen 5 20/21 triggers.
I've been holding back on buying a big boy glock waiting for this. My first glock is a Gen 5 20
I only got one plate as well. I asked glock. They said they now only send one?
Yes life has come full circle. Back to my old favorite sidearm round .45 Acp.
BUT
High tech with a plate for an Optic and a rail for light or laser. 1911 you've come a long way Baby.
StaySharp Sgt.SteveRet 🇺🇲
Gun reviewers get way too hung up on “innovation”. Glock made a pistol that took almost 40 years for anyone to come close to catching up. Nothing wrong with minor generational changes as long as its still a Glock.
Been waiting for this review
Another great video from Sootch.
