Learn something new everyday. I would of never thought that a motorcycle had a catalytic converter. At the beginning I thought you were calling for a real cat lol. My dad was out driving last week and felt something fall from the car. Right away the car started moving slow. Luckily he stopped on the busy street. It was some type of pipe and his converter that fell off. A mechanic that just happened to be behind him said the only way that could of happened is, where ever he was recently parked someone was trying to steal it and didn’t finish smh
Holy cow! That is quite the story. I have heard of people stealing the converters because they are worth money. Unfortunately the junkyard would not take mine 😂 for scrap.

Hey, Stan! Hope you are doing well and riding! Funny story... Tommy tried to take it to the scrap yard and they wouldn't take it because they thought it was a muffler lol. So I still have it. We do not need them for emissions inspections where I live.
Regardless of my personal opinion on a cat delete, nice how to and glad to see you doing most of yourself as that slacker was napping on the job. It is your bike and you can do what you want, but I’m wondering, did you update the ECM to accommodate the change in back pressure on the exhaust? The baffle probably provides a close amount of back pressure. It would be interesting to cut that removed cat in half to see how much flow it impedes. Good to see you working on the bike.

Lucky, you don't have to take the whole spyder apart just to get to the cat. The more exhaust mods you do, the more of a chance of droning on the highway. Hopefully that baffle works for the long road trips.

Let's see. .I really don't know the answer... Maybe ask your service technician ...or when I go to get my oil changed in a couple weeks I'll ask. I don't have an extended warranty myself.
Here in Australia I’m pretty sure it would be against the law to remove the catalic converter . What extra performance did you receive in regards to power, and the big question fuel economy . After getting 4.1 per hundred klm on my BMW R1200 going to 6.5 per hundred klm is a bit sad . I’m not complaining my Can Am Spyder is far more comfortable and I don’t have to worry about dropping it especially after recent knee surgery . Take care ride safe Mal in Australia
Hello there! No doubt there are states and countries where this would not pass inspection. I think it has a little more power, definitely lightened up the weight and is throwing off a little less heat. Fuel economy...I did do a video on gas mileage..I don't think it has improved or taken away...others seem to average the same mileage. Just curious how you are ‘legally’ able to remove your cat converter? Each time I look into modifying my exhaust I’m told it either goes against noise or environmental laws.
Well, I live in Pennsylvania and there are no requirements to legally have a catalytic converter where I reside. Actually it's not that much louder without it and the baffle insertion helped as well. And I recently had my yearly Pennsylvania inspection right after I did the cat delete. Where do you live?
@@PurpleOnThree I understand the noise side of the regulations are state by state. However the installation of cat converters is an environmental issue and thus controlled by the feds (EPA). Each time I look into a mod I’m told that removing the cat converter requires signing a form that is sent to the EPA so I just gave up.
Are you able to demonstrate the muffler sound before and after installation? I bought a used 2017 Spyder F3 and it seems like someone removed the cat so the muffler seems louder than I like. Please present a video before and after if you can. Thank you in advance!

Are you saying you're not sure if someone removed the cat? You can definitely see if it's there or not and you can see if a pipe has been put there instead.

Thank you! But I think I found it on the Lamonster web sight. I use a Tom Tom GPS wondering if it can hold it. I am sure it can it a little smaller than the Garmin.

Here in Australia I’m pretty sure it would be against the law to remove the catalic converter . What extra performance did you receive in regards to power, and the big question fuel economy . After getting 4.1 per hundred klm on my BMW R1200 going to 6.5 per hundred klm is a bit sad . Hello there! No doubt there are states and countries where this would not pass inspection. I think it has a little more power, definitely lightened up the weight and is throwing off a little less heat. Fuel economy...I did do a video on gas mileage..I don't think it has improved or taken away...others seem to average the same mileage. Now get rid of the stock muffler. I went with RLS Crusher Series and love it . Sounds a lot better and looks great.

Just curious how you are ‘legally’ able to remove your cat converter? Each time I look into modifying my exhaust I’m told it either goes against noise or environmental laws.
Well, I live in Pennsylvania and there are no requirements to legally have a catalytic converter where I reside. Actually it's not that much louder without it and the baffle insertion helped as well. And I recently had my yearly Pennsylvania inspection right after I did the cat delete. Where do you live?
@@PurpleOnThree I understand the noise side of the regulations are state by state. However the installation of cat converters is an environmental issue and thus controlled by the feds (EPA). Each time I look into a mod I’m told that removing the cat converter requires signing a form that is sent to the EPA so I just gave up.

Are you able to demonstrate the muffler sound before and after installation? I bought a used 2017 Spyder F3 and it seems like someone removed the cat so the muffler seems louder than I like. Please present a video before and after if you can. Thank you in advance!

That same video you can hear the exhaust with out the cat and also without a muffler. Are you saying you're not sure if someone removed the cat? You can definitely see if it's there or not and you can see if a pipe has been put there instead.
I know the cat is gone and just the s pipe is connected to the muffler but loud.
