    I'm a PhD holder in medicine, and you are exactly correct Doctor. Anywhere between 8,000-10, 000 IU is needed per day, yes. The current recommendations by experts is far less which makes it practically useless, as you have correctly mentioned again! Additionally, VitD3 has to be taken along with Vitamin K2 (MK7) for achieving a better bioavailability to the target tissues.

      @@susanwilson4069 The optimal levels of VitK2 is not yet established, but as per the updated evidences available, it's approximately 10:1 ratio. For every 1000 units of VitD3, 100 micrograms of VitK2. But for practical purposes, as little as 100 micrograms K2 for every 10,000 IU D3 is still worth considering.

    Modern medicine is absolutely INSANE. I went to a doc for depression and concentration, went through a year of feeling messed up on SSRIs, Wellbutrin, etc... doc started suggesting I have bipolar (I do not) and wanted to try mood stabilizers. I said screw this, skipped out on the doc, and started my own research. I was never tested for vitamin deficiencies. Finally realized I had symptoms of low Vit D and B vitamins, started taking 10k IUs D and a solid methylated B vitamin complex (and magnesium l-threonate), and boom, I'm feeling good every day both mentally and physically. These docs just want to treat symptoms--they're not even interested in WHY you might be having symptoms.

      If I had a broken leg, I'd have a doctor do surgery. For nutrition related issues I'd just fly solo and forget doctors. I stopped psych meds and am so much better without them

    Vitamin D success story. I almost died from Covid in 2021 at age 54. I was on ECMO and in the hospital for 7 weeks. I did a ton of research during my recovery and questioned my Vitamin D level. I immediately began taking 3,000 IU's per day when I came home from the hospital, thinking that was enough. When I tested three months later I was only at 29 ng/ml. I subsequently learned that my father had tested in the low 20's before supplementing, so I suspected a genetic problem. I took a genetic test and lo and behold it showed a genetic predisposition for low Vitamin D. I began supplementing with 10,000 IU's per day of D3 and recently tested at 54 ng/ml. Pretty good for February. I've noticed that my chronic post nasal drip has diminished and my morning cough, which used to be horrible in the Winter (hint hint), is gone.

    I’ve been taking 25,000ius a day for 2-1/2 years. As well as many more supplements. I have lost 200lbs in the last 5 years on Keto and IF. I just had a 6 month checkup and ALL of my labs were stellar. Doc couldn’t believe it. A1c 5.4, hdl 80, ldl 60, triglycerides 61 and on and on. 5 years ago I took 12 pharma meds, now I take zero. Now I am no longer diabetic and I no longer have high blood pressure. Also had a quintuple bypass 2-1/2 years ago.

    I've had undetectable levels of Vit D in the past. This winter my depression has been awful. My sister gifted me some Vit D3 (10,000IUs) with K2 to take every day and a seperate 50,000IU dose to take once a week. I thought she was nuts. Anyway, it has been about a month and I'm feeling better. I hope this advice is taken seriously, it is solid.

      Dont bother with the K2. We get thousands of IU's worth of sunlight in just a few minutes and our body distributes it just fine. No K2 necessary. All you need is vitamin D

      my doctor prescribed me 50,000 of Vitamin D3 for only 1once a month. I did feel light headed difference but i feel like i need more due to fatigue and lack of energy. Would it be safe if i take 10,000 IU of vitamin D once a week?

      @@emanuelmendez7996 make sure to take K2 with it, my supplement has 250mcg in it. 10,000D3 a week won't hurt you but it might not be enough. Good luck.

    I saw an interview with Dr Steven Gundry a little while ago and he said 10,000 IU's per day was his absolute minimum recommendation. When considering other factors like obesity and diabetes etc he prescribes more. He also said that whenever he feels the beginnings of a virus in himself he takes 150,000 IU's for several days. Thank you Dr Berg for this much needed content.

    60,000 IU daily after 2 weeks, ended hip ache of 5 yrs and knee pain of 1 yr with only occasional momentarily brief reminders. After a month, persistent, extremely slow healing sores on my hands, arms, legs, shoulder and neck of 10 years have shown rapid improvement, for the first time ever and I'm on the verge of 100% clear skin, less the scarring. Vitamin D is the closest thing to a panacea we have and we're missing out by buying what the medical field is selling. Low dose vitamin D and fear of the sun is the foundation of the medical field. Thanks Dr. Berg for over 200 videos on Vitamin D, I finally get it! You are a godsend!!

    I took 60,000 IU's for 6 months then I started taking 20,000. I've never felt better but then again there is a mountain of things I'm doing as Dr.Berg's videos say to do. I really am a different person than I was a year and a half ago! Back then I couldn't get out of my chair, NOW! I never sit in it! Thank you again, Dr. Berg!

    I like this way of thinking. However, it seems to me you are assuming there is a 100% use / uptake into cells of the vitamin D in the blood every 24 hours. It could be that a particular molecule of vitamin D stays in the blood for 48 hours, which would presumably mean the intake could be halved. I think the only sure way is to take blood levels and titrate doses with these ongoing blood level tests. Still, an interesting approach to the problem.

      Dr John. Great to see you commenting here as i subscribe to both your videos and Dr Berg's videos.
      Yes i wondered about this myself.
      Doesn't vitamin D get stored in the body?
      It is still as you say an interesting perspective.
      I recently heard a video with the FLCCC Brazilian doctor, Flavio Cadegiani, who said that in order to reach optimal levels of vitamin D in the blood most people need to take in around 50,000iu per week.
      That seems to match up with what Dr Berg is saying.
      My personal experience is that for YEARS i got at least 20+minutes of outdoor exposure to as much skin as possible and my level never got above 25.
      I started supplementing with 2000iu. After a year of that my levels came up to 42. I doubled again and then took 4000iu for two months and achieved 48.
      I am now taking 8000iu since i want to get up to at least 60.

      JC, It could mean...? It's the similar to EB comments... it could mean the outcome he states... so where 100% agree is to get your blood 25 hydroxy tested to 100% confirm... not such a simple task in the UK with the current GP system/ issues....??

      Agreed. Here is another way of looking at it. Your car burns fuel at a certain rate--needing more fuel to "top off" at some point. How much? Well let's say my car is "short" of being topped off by 10 gallons. Does that mean I need to add 10 gallons of fuel to my car per day? Sure it will work for the first day, but if I use only 5 gallons per day, then the next day it will overflow. So the questions are: (a) How much D do I need to take daily and for how many days to bring the concentration back up to the normal level, (b) How much do I need to take daily to sustain that level once reached (would vary depending on diet and sunlight exposure of course).

    My doctor once came unglued when I showed her the 10,000 IU Vitamin D package I had bought at the pharmacy in the hospital where she worked. She considered the amount dangerous, while continuing to insist my levels were low.
    Yesterday, I went for a nice long walk, with my sleeves up to my elbows and no leggings under my skirt. Yes, yes, I know it to be immodest, but here on the shore of Lake Michigan, I won't see 63°F until May of next year. And, it's way cheaper, and so much healthier to walk around outside than to take supplements.
    Thank you for the reminder that we cannot get enough vitamin D from our diet. And the reminder that the medical "professionals" have been intentionally taught false information.

      Let your doctor know I take 10k IU almost daily and I've had zero issues. Doctors want to keep pushing drugs when there are methods that would bankrupt them and pharmaceutical companies.

      Yep, I've been following Dr. Berg for a couple of years (as well as other holistic doctors) and have learned that when I see my conventional doctor just for checkups and labs, (I'm never sick at 67, knock on wood) I don't tell what I'm actually doing, I just listen to her advice and prescriptions, nod my head, and then come home and double check what I really should be doing. Since Covid I've been taking 10,000 ius D3 plus K2 and have never felt stronger or healthier. Going into winter, with covid still lurking around out there, I'm considering increasing the D3 even more. I can't recall which doctor said to take 20,000-50,000 if you're sick !!! Toxic levels are much higher than that

    I am a 59 yr old male. About 12 years ago I was diagnosed with osteoporosis and also brain lesions suggestive of MS. This came as a complete surprise and shock to me at the time. Incidentally my MD also found that my Vitamin D blood levels were low. He told me to take 10,000 IU daily of Vitamin D, and I followed his advice. Since then, my Dexa scans have shown continual improvement in bone density, and follow-up brain MRI's over the past 12 years did not show any increase or change in the brain lesions. In retrospect I think I had been low in Vitamin D3 for many years prior to my diagnoses. I have studied a lot about Vitamin D deficiency, and it seems it is pandemic across the world. Northern regions have much higher incidences of MS than those closer to the equator, and an associated number of people with lower D3 levels. Something as simple as supplementing with D3 could potentially prevent so many unnecessary and complex health problems. I still don't understand why most of mainstream medicine doesn't pay attention to this. Furthermore, I rarely have a cold, only some very mild symptoms, so that is another plus for adequate Vitamin D intake. As for dosage, 10,000 IU maintains my Vitamin D3 blood levels at about 80 ng/ml, perhaps a little higher than the general recommendations, but still well under anything considered toxic. As Dr Berg also has pointed out, Vitamin K2 MK 7 should be taken with Vitamin D3 so that the calcium in our bodies does not deposit into the wrong places i.e. heart arteries and kidneys.

    Dr Berg I was hospitalized for vitamin d deficiency in 2014! SINCE 2018, following your advice for 10,000 IUS of D3 and 100 MCG of K2 my vitamin d is dead center middle of normal! I know this because I have my blood work done regularly. And 2 weeks ago still middle of normal!

    This has possibility saved me a whole host of visits to the doctors. I was diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis at age 22 and as well as stiffness and pain throughout my life I also started with severe eczema after the menopause. After doing some research, not wishing to take steroids or NSAIDS (which gave me an ulcer in my 30s!), I did some research on both AS and eczema and the evidence for both pointed towards lack of Vitamin D. I have been taking a dose of 8000 IUs for the last three years along with a multi vit (which contains magnesium and K2) and both my eczema and my pain has almost gone. When I mentioned this is my rheumatologist they said that they had heard about the link with low Vit D and inflammation but sadly didn't think to mention it! Thank you so much.

      You said it already, 'DOCTORS', they know nothing about vitamins. They receive this for a maximum of one week during their years of study. They always try to give it as low as possible to keep you miserable and nauseous. A healthy person is a lost source of income. Doctors are the dealers of the Pharmaceutical companies.

    I am now taking Vitamin D with K from your product line. Also, Vitiam C. Still trying to recover from COVID-19 and COVID-19 pneumonia. It has been 11 months. After 3 weeks I am feeling energy. Arthritis is better. I begged my Doctor for antiviral med and she finally gave in. It should not take this much effort from the patient. However, this is now the state of our medical community.     Thanks to Dr. Berg, I started taking 10,000 IU's/day in March 2020 and switched to 5,000/day in June 2021 (getting a lot of summer sun). My D3 level was 97ng/ml in September 2021. Many years ago my level was in the low 30's. I'm an overweight, 180lb, 60yo.

    I was taking 5,000iu - 10,000iu/daily in 2019 and 2020. When I tested my D3 in December 2020, it came back at 5. Dr. recommended at least 7,000IU/ day but I went straight to 50,000IU/day and started working on cleaning my liver. My last test in July 2021 shows D3 at 134 so now I'm only taking it occasionally, but my mood has improved drastically. Before getting my D3 up I was sad non-stop and just crying for no reason every single day. It was awful.

      That's hypercalcemia. If I were you I would cut all D-3 for 3-4 months until it dropped to below 60 ng/DL, which is already too high.

      @@-Perene I rarely take D3 supplements now but I don't think I have issues with hypercalcemia. I'm gonna have blood work done later this month to see again where my numbers are. I was taking k2 along with D3, am taking potassium and magnesium too, had CAC test done and its at zero. On very rare occasions I'd take calcium supplements because it helps me get rid of restless legs and muscle cramps. I'm gonna look more into it but I'd be really surprised if I have too much of it.

      @@Bambina336 , from all the research I've done on D3/K2, I think you made the right decision. D3 especially has a ton to do with mood since it is a hormone. I hope you're feeling better. Depression is a MF. Ignore Perene....according to the way they "answered" you, they didn't even read your post correctly. ✌️

      based on 50,000IU/day then, I would start just now taking 200,000 IU/day... while the recommendations are in general at a low marge, going so high can be also dangerous but, good luck!

    I’m taking 3 vitamin D supplements a day 5000 IUs each. Three months I managed to raise my vitamin D levels from 34 to 37 I am still very low.😩. Same with my potassium levels. Becoming healthy is hard but im grateful for all this knowledge!

      Exercise will promote absorption, it doesn't matter how many supplements you're taking if your body is not absorbing them.

    I was low vitamin d. My doctor said 10000. My level is in the normal range now. So I agree with 10000 dr berg

    Just had my vitamin d checked for the first time, born and raised in the northeast usa. Came in at 86 ng. Family history of low vitamin d, 25-40 ng. Been supplementing 5-10,000 iu. Life long athlete, and run through all seasons. Was excited to see that baseline.

      High Range is Hard to define for Vitamin D. I know people that have a Vitamin D Level about 150ng/ml to 200ng/dl and they feel good.

      If that's true you need to stop and yesterday. 86 ng/mL is equivalent to 273 nmol/L. Anything over 125 nmol/L (39 ng/mL) is considered dangerous.

    Thank you. IMO you produce the best health videos on TH-cam. I have studied vitamin D for over 8 years and this is the first time that I have seen anyone compare IU intake to ng/ml and account for absorption. From personal experience I think that 40 to 60 ng/ml is too low by about half. I am 74 years old and for the last 8 years I have kept my 25(OH)D level between 100 and 120 ng/ml. My health has been better than ever in my lifetime. I have had only 2 mild colds during this time and all of my long list of other health problems have just gone away. I also take 200 mcg of K2 and about 2000 mg of magnesium daily along with a good multi-mineral, multi-vitamin, B complex, and some iodine daily.

      @ Jim Gill - You are absolutely right. I am as well 74 years old with a weight of 95 kg - and my daily d3-intake since many years are 14.000 i.u. + mg, k2 and others. My d3-level is 86 mg/ml tested last week. So my question is, what is your daily intake of d3 that you could reach a level of 100 - 120 ng/mg - for that level would be, in my opinion, the best to prevent cancer-problems.

    My doctor yelled at me for taking 10000 IU daily. That amount was working for me. He now only wants me to take 4000 IU a day. Will be having blood work drawn today and will see what my numbers are. I feel that I will start taking more when I get my results. Thanks Dr Berg for your helpful insights on our body and vit D3.

    You didn't address how long Vitamin D stays in your body. If you blood holds 8000 IU it doesn't mean you need to ingest at least 8000 IU every day. You need to know how fast you body uses it up. I'm not trying to say you're wrong about the amount but you left a VERY important variable out of the math problem. I currently take 10k to 15k every day.

      That is true - will create a video on this but if you are overweight, a higher amount of vitamin D will be absorbed and stored in the fat cells. If the liver is fatty, then you will get less conversion into the active form. If the kidney is damaged, you will also not get the conversion, so there are so many ways to block absorption.

      I take 5000 IU daily. After 6 months my vit d levels were around 41, up from 30. 6 months more and I was up at 57. Then, i stopped for 4 months in the sunmer and when tested at the 6 month date (so 2 months of vit d again), my levels were at 43. The body uses vit d. It's not being stored like body fat.

    The main question that is not really answered here is... How much does our body use on a daily basis, not how much does our blood store in it. This is just an explanation of how much to take to replenish our blood... Vit D usage could vary from person to person depending on how much their body needs it.

    This is why Dr Berg is amazing: he thinks and challenges what is ‘recommended’ whereas many other doctors just accept it and pass on the wrong message to patients. 2 years ago my blood showed a deficiency in vitamins d and my GP recommended me to take supplements without telling me how much per day… 2 years later my blood test still shows a deficiency. Now I know why, thank you Dr Berg!

    Dr. Berg, Firstly, thank you immensely for helping me out with weight loss through Kito diet, reverseing cholesterol, hypertension. Through lifestyle changes, daily exercise and diet I have succeeded in reversing my hypertension, LDL levels, and finally I am currently off Statins and other prescription medication. My doctor has prescribed me Vit.D3 capsules 60,000IU one capsule, once a week to be taken for 8 weeks to improve my Vit.D levels. I did consult a number of Doctors and they all concur that at least 8000IU - 10000IU should be the doseage taken to restore low Vit.D levels.

    Dr. Berg is totally correct. I am telling with my experience. Earlier I was taking 1000IU Vitamin D & I remained deficient in Vitamin D. Then I started taking 10000 IU Vitamin D & it got resolved. So, thanks Dr. Berg

    I eat liver once and sometimes twice a week, I kept it as a habit because my mother used to feed my brother and I liver once a week because it's packed with vitamins. Needless to say, I do get my bloodwork done every year and my D vitamin is always nearly maxed, and my doctors asked me a couple of years ago what I do to maintain such high levels of it. Apart from the liver I eat, I also take fish oil, mostly every other day - and sometimes when I visit my grandparents in the village I like to drink the milk straight from the cow, especially in the springtime because it tastes like fresh grass. I don't take supplements or pills, because you can get it from food if you try hard enough.

      Good for you. Yeah, back in the ole days, when my family lived in the country area, we did the same thing. We would also eat fresh fruits and vegetables, etc. that we would buy at the local market once a week OR pick from the trees and/garden.
      Now, we go to the SUPER market to get everything - (even the meat was from local animals). O boy, those were the good ole days, never to come back. Rightfully so, we were not taking pills/supplement except (Cod Liver Oil from England).

    Thanks Dr Berg. I have just calculate vitamin D we need to get the best level of: 80 ng/ mL (nanogram /mL blood).
    Assuming we have 5 L blood (5000 ml blood):
    And 1 mcg equipment to 40 IU,
    We need:
    80x5000 nanogram for our 5L blood.
    Thus, we need 400,000 ng or equal to 400 mcg (microgram).
    1 mcg equipment to 40 IU.
    So we need 16,000 IU to get the best level of vitamin D (80 ng/mL blood).
    Correct me if I am wrong.

    Can confirm, doc. When taking 20k IUs I feel it's positive effect. Much less with 10k IUs, and I do modulate vitamin D intake based on how I feel on a particular day.

      @@georgewagner7787 states of how I feel on a particular day may vary from one another, if I feel less energetic lets say, or feel down, after taking vitamin D my mood would usually improve ( I might even feel more relaxed ), such as after sunbathing in the summer - that's the closest association I could think of when describing how I would feel ( as it is likely subjective to a degree ).

    I've been watching your videos for about 5 years and the information is spot on ... I used to be pre-diabetic which scared me so much and was told I needed to commence Metformin. I refused and checked out his keto diet - it worked ... after 6-8 months my Hba1c went from 52 to 41 and I've not looked back. Thank you Dr Berg

Secondly, now I understood very well how much of vitamin D absorbtion. I really appreciated the information given here.. I shared this video to all my family members and friends..       Take magnesium with it, perhaps a half gram of magnesium citrate and best in powder form; I use the NOW foods brand. Also boron will help assimilate vitamin d and magnesium. K2 is the other important bone nutrient to help chattel calcium to bones and teeth.

    I was treated for a vitamin D deficiency about ten years ago. I went in with symptoms of depression - no energy, tired all the time, not enjoying hobbies any more, etc. Vitamin D measured at 12 ng/dl, which is at the "holy smokes you are actually sick" levels. I was put on 50,000 IU once a week for six months, and I felt so much better! I've been taking 4,000 IU as my maintenance dose but I could never get it above 30 ng/dl which is still on the low side. I'll bump that up to the 10,000 IU range for a while and see if that improves it by my next annual physical.

    Another thing people forget is that you MUST take a magnesium supplement with Vitamin D. Most people are deficient and you must have sufficient magnesium to synthesis/metabolize vitamin D.

    For the record, Medcram highlighted a scientific study that suggested that 1000iu of D3 per day would reduce one's chances of suffering a chest infection by 50% whilst also reducing the chances of pneumonia by 70%
    I think the take away message here is to find out what we need as individuals. I take 4000iu per day with K2 included.

    It took me 3 months to get my Vitamin D level from 22 to 78 by taking 5000 iu
    per day of liquid liposomal vitamin D3.
    I'm diabetic type 2 with gut inflammation problems. All other capsules/liquids of vitamin D didn't raise my D levels at all. My health center recently raised the chart of normal D levels to: 75 - 120 after long years of having 45-60 levels as normal.
    Get your D levels up to 80-100 at least. It helps in case you get corona infected!

    I take 10000 daily, plus twice a week I take 20000 (I'm 6,3 200lb). Wife and daughter take 10000 daily. It was the only way we could get to optimal levels and stay there.

    This is an interesting way to look at the vitamin D concentration. The missing link is how much of the vitamin D present in the blood gets consumed every day. Once a stable level is reached, continuing high doses will lead to accumulation. I am totally onboard with the vitamin D supplementation but I am not sure this tells the whole story and the optimal dosing is a more complicated issue

    I've always believed that recommended doses are deliberately low for all vitamins and minerals because they're only "supplements" and not supposed to be the main source of that nutrient.

    I did played with Vitamin D3 in last 10 years. To be in optimal range 10.000uUI - 15.000UI daily will do. I do measure my D3 blood level every year.
    Make sure the pill does not come with vegetable oils (Omega 6 inflammatory oils: safflower, sunflower, etc). Best will be MCT oil, olive oil is acceptable.

    Started working with a doctor doing labs every 8 weeks trying to optimize my vitamin and hormone levels since January/February. First round of labs I was at 23ng/ml. Slowly upped my total intake (not counting foods) to 7,000IU/daily over the course of a few months. Last rounds of labs I was just at 49ng/ml. Planning to add another 1,000IU to my regimen to get to that 50-60ng/ml range.

    I have kidney damage and high blood pressure. Increased vitamin D3 normalized my kidney function and decreased the amount of prescribed medication taken to normalize blood pressure.
    BTW, Doc... we would benefit by you increasing your focus on issues related to IF, keto and peep who have already compromised their kidneys.

    Isn't the recommended daily dose going to build & sustain levels in the blood OVER TIME?
    The daily amount may not match the optimum concentration value, but it should accumulate over time and reach those levels eventually. Basically, it seems correct that the daily intake of Vitamin D should be WAY lower (when converted to iu's/ml) than the overall amount in your blood at any one time.

      How much should you take to maintain a healthy level? Mine is 60 now and I took 5,000 iu's on and off never very consistent along with a lot of sun wonder if I should just take 2,000 iu's to maintain because I do get a lot of sun just not everyday

    My Doc fought with me about taking 10,000 iu of Vitamin D. But I got my levels up from 25 to 78. She was surprised, go figure! But it took about a year and I added Vitamin K. Thank you Dr. Berg for all your informative videos! I also do the intermittent fasting! All my blood work smack in the middle of the range! Again, my Doc was surprised! I’m so grateful to you!! I feel and look better than I have in years! ( I’m 58 years old )

      Doctors only know what they are taught. Its not like they actually do studies themselves, so if the info they are getting is bad, then they will assume you are wrong, and they know everything. Which they dont.

    Makes sense.
    My doctor said that I was low in vitamin D over a year ago.
    6 months later I was tested in the 85 percential reference range.
    Thats after I decided, on my own, to double the dose of vitamin D supplementation that he prescribed to me.

      @@wavygoods877 After 3 months of taking vitamin D at 25,000 iu I was just above the max reference range with ZERO side effects.
      I stopped supplementing for 2 weeks to allow my vitamin D numbers to come down.
      Now I supplement 20,000 iu about once or twice a week.
      If my numbers get too low, I know exactly how to increase it again using 25k iu daily for 30 days without side effects.

    Started taking your supplements for over 4 months now. Since Sep 2020 my level was 26.7 (deficient) then April 2021 it went up to 44 since I’m taking 5000 IUs every other day according to the bottle. I then became more curious about my health esp my immune system and by watching your videos and other highly respectable Drs. I started taking your supplements daily (10,000 IUs) and my lab on 19Jan2022 showed VITAMIN D OH-25 of 82. 100 is the highest but I’m happy with this number and I feel great about myself and now I feel less pain and inflammation as well especially with my lower back pain. Thanks Dr. Berg!

      OPTIMAL CONCENTRATION in nmol/L should be no less than 50 nmol/L (16 ng/mL) in winter and 60-80 nmol/L (19-25 ng/mL) in summer.

    I work outside majority of the time in the south. I was taking 5000iu for a while and just happened to buy only 2000iu next time but took 2 a day. My doctor checked my D levels and I was at mid range. I thought that I would have been higher but that goes to show you, if I'm at midrange AND get hours of sun exposure 5x a week plus I take 4000iu-5000iu for the last 2+ years... other people should definitely need to take more because most people are not outside very long to get it naturally .

    I recently had blood work done with a 5,000 IU regimen. My doctor told me to decrease my intake because my blood concentration was 96 ng/ml which is the borderline of being too high. I have cut back to 3,000. No, I do not get out in the sun often.

    Agree, Dr. Berg! I take 10,000+ IUs daily, a combo of Vitamin D3 and Cod-liver oil. My recent blood work( in September) showed my Vitamin D level is 70 ng/ml. So for me, taking 10K IUs daily is my bare minimum. 🙂

      How many tea or table spoons of your cod liver oil are you taking? I really want to start taking 10k IUs as atm I'm only taking about 1k in the form of cod liver oil pills but I struggle to see how I can realistically do so.

    The accumulation of vitamin d in the bloodstream should be calculated from the difference between the amount of vitamin d that the body receives (from the sun, food and supplements) and the amount that it leaves the body. According to Google, in 15 days, half of the consumed amount of vitamin D has disappeared from the body. That is, for one day, about 3.5% of the vitamin D in the bloodstream is lost. For this reason, it is enough to replace that 3.5% with a new amount of vitamin D. The calculation in the video assumes that all the vitamin D already in the bloodstream would leave the body by the next day.

    female in the UK. I’m very happy with these levels I used to be so tired until I started taking Vitamin D. I can stop for now because summer is coming and I spend a lot of time outside.

    I agree, I’ve been taking 10,000 IUs a day for over a year, I was really worried at the start of Covid because I’ve had a history of chest issues (bronchial asthma) I had been taking the vit D for 6 months and a test showed low 20’s (deficient). In January I contracted the virus and was very weak for just shy of a month, I could “feel” something acting on my chest and breathing but it came to nothing.
    Since then I no longer suffer from sleep apnoea and have lost weight (stopped eating sugar) and kept it off.
    If there’s one thing I could pass on to a fellow human in this life that’s, TAKE VITAMIN D.
    Also make sure you also get K2 in you as well and get tested (see online home kits for return-to-lab or else Health services) to see how much you are absorbing.
    I have a high fat diet, but go easy on dairy (check doctor Bergs comments on calcium levels)
    It’s totally changed my life (I’m 59) I just wish I had started it much earlier.
    We need to take care of ourselves especially in these uncertain times.

      I HATE IT WHEN THE SHELL GAMERS CONFUSE Y'ALL. I've done public lab draws for D since '95...GET TESTED FIRST, use K2, monitor calcium levels, maybe take boron/strontium, and 10,000IU for 2-3 months (given you don't eat "oatmeal" with it) should work, GET RETESTED. Sunshine has NO EFFECT above Atlanta from Oct-March and minimal effect for most over 55 in the summer.

    I had a major back injury and spent around 12 months indoors. I felt so lethargic/depressed so I had blood work done and I was deficient in vitamin d, zinc and B12 plus my testosterone had dipped from 28nmol/L to 13nmol/L
    My doctor recommended 1000iu of d3 daily - 3 months later there was no changes so I upped it to 7000 IU daily (from online research) plus 30 minutes of direct sunlight just wearing boxer shorts for 3 months and now my levels are back to normal and my testosterone is back to 22nmol/L.

    Well, that's interesting because I had a Vit D Level of 32, and after about 6 months of taking 1000iu, I got up to 72. That's 1000 per day. I could not imagine taking 10,000 per day.

    My success story was not eating crap every day and have been 50 pounds lighter for the last 30 years.
    This includes a mostly vegan organic diet (I do honey and sometimes fish) , lots of supplements including the basics plus anti-oxidants, clean filtered water, no fluoride or toxic stuff, and exercise.
    No jabs for me tho, and I've filled in for those jabbed who were out sick in a few offices.

    Hello dr. Berg, thank you for all your information and graphic footage - I use it to gain more knowledge and to help my clients here in Amsterdam where it has been stated too much vitamin D can be dangerous. I use myself high levels of vitamin D3, K2 and Magnesium, amongst others and ever since I have been doing that, my old fracture doesn't hurt or bother me anymore, I have an enormous amount of energy and make long days without getting tired, I sleep better, my skin looks better, I feel strong and overall I feel like a spring chicken 😉. I find your video’s very useful, I learn from it and my clients as well, so thank you for your work, effort and knowhow!

    😅😅Good video! My husband and I take a 10,000 iu D3+K2 supplement with coconut oil (not industrial seed oils!) and get as much sun as we can daily and my tests have shown I’m about 95 ng/mL at the upper range of the best levels! Been doing this for about 2 years and my allergy test showed that I was no longer allergic to half of the things I was and now only need one shot per month when before (with low D’s) needed two shots!

    Our success story is that thanks to your guidance, we had Covid at our house and it was really NO BIG DEAL! D3, Quercetin, NAC, Selenium and C were probably the most helpful. We did get our hands on Ivermectin and know that it was also of great use.

    My mom's doctor told her that she needs to stop eating too much yellow fruits and veggies and that she can't be taking too much vitamin d..(she takes one pill which is 5000iu, I sometimes take 2 pills)....I don't understand...

    I was put on 800 for quite some time. It was a blue capsule. I started feeling better. My reading was 27 and I was told it needed to be 70 upwards. Once I reached this they stopped prescribing it. I then stopped taking it and my vit level went down again over the years. I was given a little white tablet and it was't working fast enough so they prescribed 20,000 It said to take everyday on the box and they couldn't understand why I had ran out. This worried them and they stopped it as I was not supposed to take it everyday. I felt faint when it was very low. This happened again years later. When they did the test I'd gone down to a reading of 29. I know I'm not taking enough and need another blood test. I have been following your videos. Thank you for your good work.

    2. Isn't optimum concentration then 8.000 - 12.000 IU calculating from 40-60 ng/ml?

    I just found out that I have low vitamin D. The vitamin D supplement that I purchased has "5000 IU" per capsule. I have been taking 3 per day. I'm glad I was correct in assuming my Dr's recommendation of 3000 IU's daily was conservative.

    Great info! I believe that I was vitamin D deficient most of my adult life and only through covid and hearing the benefits of Vitamin D have I been working on my raising number. It's my understanding though, that levels of Vitamin D in the blood optimally should be between 60-80... I've finally got myself to 65. I'm still working to get in the 70s.

    I would suggest being very, very cautious when taking supplements. Vitamins might appear harmless because they are available over the counter but they can be hazardous in large doses. For example, it's well established that large doses of vitamin E can increase the risk of prostate cancer. Large doses of calcium, often suggested for post-menopausal women, can significantly increase the risk of kidney stones, strokes, heart attacks. Yes, it is popularly believed that the body will generally excrete excessive doses of supplements but we still don't fully understand the long-term effects on kidneys and liver as they work overtime dealing with these daily barrages.
    It is ALWAYS best to get the nutrients you need from your diet. If this is not happening, change what you eat. If it is absolutely impossible to get what you need, consider supplements only as a last resort. as there IS risk involved. We just don't know enough about sub-clinical deficiencies OR long-term overdose effects.
    One more thing: Dr. Berg is confusing daily recommendations with daily needs. Knowing the serum (blood) concentration of D3 tells us nothing about the rate at which the body uses it. Obviously we would like to maintain a certain concentration, but without regular testing of the blood we cannot really know what we are doing.

    If supplementing with high doses of vitamin D it is extremely important to take K2 in its MK7 form to help reduce the risk of vitamin D toxicity. I really like this video but also really wish this would have been mentioned. I take 10,000 IU daily and my serum Vitamin D level is 105 ng/ml which is slightly high, but MK7 gives me peace of mind that that vitamin D is being redirected away from cardiac and vascular tissue. I have high ANA and ACA levels so I take vitamin D for inflammation as indicated in the video.

    Great video. I take a 4000ui capsule a day as well as a high strength Omega 3 (with D included) and make sure that I am drinking (either in plain form or as a protein shake) 250ml of milk daily and get plenty of sun. It's the winter that I'm struggling to get the Vitamin D in but I think most people probably struggle with that too. I think daily supplementation is important especially people like vegans who likely never get the optimum level of vitamin D without this.

    I sadly was on acid suppressants for 12 years, I'm now not thanks to you...sir I made an assumption that I was a little vitamin d deficient and with the covid thing and also listening to Dr Michael Holic in addition being 50 and a little over weight and added to that would most years get a cold that would knock me out for maybe 3 to 4 days. Disided to take 2000 then 3000 now 4000 International units a day that has now been 2 years. ....yes I got a cold this year but not last. It was completely different, a bit of a blocked nose ,no cough no acks or pains and was mostly gone in 7 day rather then lingering for a fortnight I also now take 500 ius of magnesium and a little zinc. The main difference however is the vitamin c that is clearly knocking things down and keeps the cold in check. Main thing however it's because the cold is not so severe I sleep. In short very different.
    Dr Holic says in short you can't really take to much with in reason up to 10000 a day I haven't gone that far.but what he impressed on me was the massive advantages in just about ever part of and physical and mental make up will prosper from vitamin D. Worrying about taking to much misses the point.

    I've found recently that I'm deficient in vit D (20ng/ml), and that's causing me a lot of discomfort, fatigue, muscular pain, etc.
    I ask my doc how much should I supplement with, and we answer me that I'm fine, that 20 is not that bad and that the guidelines for vitamine D are way to high....
    Also a couple months ago he prescribed me 8 days of antibiotics because I told him that I was coughing a bit, but nothing serious. Fortunately, I refuse to take them.
    I'm starting to question if he knows what he's doing.

    Every individual is different, and you must test your 25 hydroxyvitamin D to ascertain what your blood levels contain. For example, I take 20,000 IU of vitamin D+K2 daily, and my blood levels are maintained between 60 & 90. This is the level I maintain monthly. So it is not how much you're taking; it's about an individual's personal levels in the blood. I have found that providers are very resistant to testing your vitamin D3 to cut down on costs.
