    Oh, so only if I am in the polygon that has been storm warned I will get the alert on my phone? Interesting.

      Yep. That's the magic of the SAME format used by the Emergency Alert System. SAME, or Specific Area Message Encoding, is used to make sure that the message gets to where it needs to go but doesn't go off anywhere that isn't affected.

      I thought the whole county gets warned? Unless it barely clips the county which them the person issuing the warning will take the W (Warn) out of the county and yeah...

      Official J Gamer I think the entire county is alerted for WATCHES only. For watches the county would be alerted via TV crawls, NOAA Radio, electronic highway signs, etc. But for WARNINGS it is whoever is in the polygon shape and alerts will be given via the previously mentioned methods AND cell phone alerts.

      @@carringtonwoods2 the truth is it depends on the phone. Newer phones can alert only people in the polygon, whereas older ones alert anyone who's in the county.

    I Will Be a Meteorologist One Day!!!!?!!! and i Will Issue a Warning When There’s Severe Weather or a Watch For a Possible Line of Thunderstorms
