@@windsofmarchjourneyperrytr2823 they do those too, but especially in season 3 I notice the "glutton nation" segment is just filming people at a buffet. Like, yeah, people overeat at buffets abd parties, it's not really informative to show every few episodes lol. Still enjoy the show though!
Ann is the absolute master of the "straight face". Those people are all stumped by their weight gain and their reasons for it are all such nonsense. How does she not show the hint of a smile? Ann Richardson you are the MASTER!!!! :0)
The one thing I’ve learned from the show is that no one in the UK really needs to worry about calories, because cirrhosis is going to get them long before heart disease does.
I'm usually pretty understanding about how people can underestimate their food intake, but I do not understand how anybody who takes a lunchbox to work thinks he's only eating one meal a day.
Its so funny how they are all so confused at the beginning like "why am I gaining weight?" and at the end the reasons always come out. They always are eating and drinking/ eating too much and not moving enough. I mean how could you get through 15 pints of cider on a "tame" night as they stated, and not know why you are putting on weight?
The majority of people mentally never take into account that everything they drink except water has calories. To them they only need to focus on food for calories.
Jonathan Dickenheadson The OP said “is it an Ed thing” not “does everyone with an Ed....” and it is a known fact psychologically that people with an eating disorder tend to obsess with not only their own weight but have intrigue in regard to other peoples weights. Of course not EVERYONE with an eating disorder watches this stuff. Relax broski.
I was shocked to see Dr. David with a blond wig on! After 2 seasons with natural grey and balding it seems odd. It isn’t terrible on him but it seems strange to see such a drastic change in the middle of a program.
@@SuzanneU there's a pretty famous obese youtuber called amberlynn reid, she consistently puts on weight but in her opinion its never her fault, she always has a bunch of excuses and does fad diets for like 1 day and gives her viewers "advice" before pigging out again and gaining more weight. Its morbid but also really funny, one other youtuber zachary michael often does videos about her vids. Her audience calls her doctorlynn, dieticianlynn, LAH, a bunch of funny names to make fun of her pseudo-science. Here we have a true dietician lynn ^^
One thing I‘ve noticed is that all these people eat most of their meals in the living room while watching TV 🤔 Is that a common thing in the UK or do people eat at dining tables too? (I‘m curious🤭)
Yes very common in the UK to eat whilst watching tv. I’m from England and me and my children always eat at the table in our kitchen for breakfast dinner & teatime. Just depends on the family I think x
Years ago I dated someone whose family ate at the table, but all the chairs except mine were positioned so that they could see the telly. No one ever spoke, and they absolutely SHOVELLED food into their mouths continuously. My family never did this, and it was strange to me not to speak during a meal. I probably ate about a third of what each of them ate. Today, they are all massive. There is definitely a huge psychological component to eating whilst watching a screen.
Yeah it is fairly usual nowadays . As a kid we always ate at the table , TV was in a different room , and bringing up my own family we ate at the table and no TV . Things have definitely changed .
we have smaller houses on average, not everyone has space for a dining table (my kitchen is basically a cupboard and the living room barely fits two sofas and the TV stand)
@@harkerx9029 Yeah ! It's different now , even back then , 1960' and 1970 ' Deffo had a wee bit more room 😕 We ate in the kitchen because it was the only room that had a bit of space ! Prior to that , we seriously had no room 🤣 Kitchen was also our living room and also bedroom 🤣 Bathroom/ Toilet? Outside! Shared with about another several families ! Happy Days ! ♥️♥️♥️
The Dietician Lynn does not make sense in this one...yes, people who work night shifts are 'eating when they'd normally be sleeping ' but that doesn't mean they don't also sleep. She literally says you have more time to eat, which is ridiculous. Night shifts can lead to weight gain, because people often eat to stay awake, or from boredom because the shifts can be quieter. Additionally, even though most fast food is closed at night, the few places that might be open are pizza/wings etc and not your salad/poké place. It's not because you magically have more hours in the day.

@@MarmaladePeaches I work really hard to not eat for like 17 hours. Jmo. It does keep weight off, tho. Not the most comfortable thing, but you're definitely hungry when it's over.

I'm British but I'm surprised how much they're drinking for their ages. I drank like that when I was 23, could never do it now!
The volume of olive oil made me feel ill 🤮
I love the science & weight loss experiment presented . The information coupled with the personal stories is so helpful .
This is totally what I need when I can't stop thinking about walking to the corner shop to buy a chocolate bar!
You could still get a chocolate bar just don’t make it a daily thing
I love how beautifully they get along.💕💐
Binge watching these during my fasting time. 🙈🙈🙈

I can finish one kebab but I'll feel sick afterwards. I usually eat 90% of it. Sometimes it just has to much french fries with it

merlins twin They take the term finger food too literary.
Yeah, I was thinking we ought to send them some.
It’s like they don’t have access to the internet....
I also love how dietitians harp on about “eat this so you’re fuller for longer” when that doesn’t help an overeaten at all 😂 I’ve lost a bunch of weight, but back before that I used to laugh when I heard people say that. “Feeling full” doesn’t help an overeager cause they eat when they’re not hungry all the time. Most don’t even know what actual hunger is 😂
It can help some people who genuinely aren't being mindful about what they eat (people who just chomp it down without keeping track) and need more signals from their body. You're right though, absolutely useless for people who are emotional eaters or addicted to the taste of a certain food.
YES! I dont even need to be hungry to eat so that advise is useless to me. Its about control and not eating whatever the hell you want ! lol
Right!🙂
That why it was so easy to lose weight for me because I’m never hungry
Just have to say this family has such a loving bond, just love that ❤
i was shocked when i saw the psychologists new hair 😂 it’s so shiny
I admire how oblivious these people are about what they are eating. Meanwhile my ED is like "Remember those 5 grapes you had tuesday last week?" I feel like I can never go back to not obsessing over food and it scares me.
I used to be anorexic and bulimic. Five years later I'm pretty casual. Took years. I still fret sometimes. But as you'd know that's not at all the same thing
@@Candlewick14Congrats on that! I've never struggled with an eating disorder but based on what I gather from these TV shows, what you've achieved is no mean feat at all.
@@Zakuyuki thanks that's very kind. :')
Secret eating is the main cause for being over weight. I do intermittent fasting on the week ends. I reduced my sugars, no snacking and avoid process food. First meal is 8.00am last is 6.00pm. I weighed last July 95 kilos, now I’m weighing 87.9
How is it going?
Lol some of the “experiments” in this show are so silly.. like “we put a buffet of food at a party... AND PEOPLE ATE IT 😳”
You missed the point, I think. The colors of plates, red vs. White. The different color jelly beans vs. Red...
LOL. Yes hard to believe isn't it? 😃
@@windsofmarchjourneyperrytr2823 they do those too, but especially in season 3 I notice the "glutton nation" segment is just filming people at a buffet. Like this episode where they found samosas and sausage rolls were popular, and last episode they counted how many times kids got chocolate coveted fruit vs adults at a party. Like, yeah, people overeat at buffets abd parties, it's not really informative to show every few episodes lol.
Still enjoy the show though!
i actually screamed seeing this in my subscriptions
Ann is the absolute master of the "straight face". Those people are all stumped by their weight gain and their reasons for it are all such nonsense. How does she not show the hint of a smile? Ann Richardson you are the MASTER!!!! :0)
I think I'd be dead if drank 15 pints or glasses of any kind of alcohol. I marvel he was still walking.
The one thing I’ve learned from the show is that no one in the UK really needs to worry about calories, because cirrhosis is going to get them long before heart disease does.
I like this family, glad they got good results in the end.
That food Scientist has The Most obvious wigs lol
Toupee's dahhhling!
Was looking for someone who noticed it, too! hahah
He started on season one almost bald, then on season 2 used a grey one and now on the third season uses a blonde....
Anna has the best personality ever
None of them drank enough to puke, so yes it was a tame night.
The doctors wig cracks me up
Just random.... does anyone think that the Doctor David hair is fake 🤔
Yes! 🤣🤣🤣
Go see one episode of season 1 and see for yourself.
All his own...
“She’s managed to gateau’ver it.”
People in this show would save so much money changing their diets: less take aways, less booze, more home cooking
It’s shocking to see low income people spend money so generously on disgusting food and drinks that kills them. Boggles my mind.
is it an ed thing to obsess with shows like this ( ss vs ss, 600lb life etc) or is it just me
lauren: Hi hon. No eating disorder for me. I just watch it for a good old laugh really.
Yep, had an ed most of my life and have always obsessively watched shows like this.
@Jonathan Dickenheadson ... never said I was?
I would binge watch this stuff while on my exercise bike when I had an ED.
It's eating disorder culture to watch this and supersize vs superskinny 😂💕
Jesus this family can HANDLE alot of booze
I was shocked to see Dr. David with a blond wig on! After 2 seasons with natural grey and balding it seems odd. It isn’t terrible on him but it seems strange to see such a drastic change in the middle of a program.

I was looking for this comment!!
"Wipe your whiskers" ... 😂😂😂😂
I love that they just lie ahahhaha
