it is SO refreshing to see them talk about anorexia as well as obesity, honestly. anorexia is JUST AS dangerous as obesity, but no one wants to talk about that because people want to think that skinny = healthy. coming from someone who has been obese and is struggling with anorexia, they are equally as dangerous as each other and both end in death if the person is not willing to make changes and reach out for help. we need to talk about eating disorders more. seriously. and i’m so glad this show sheds a light on it.

I love this show bc it's not one sided. It talks about the dangers of both being underweight and overweight. The ackee and fish is actually pretty healthy. The bad part is the mac & cheese and fried plantains.
I'm a training chef and that is very believable most chefs work around those hours, breaks can be hard to come by because if you don't finish your prep you have to stay and finish it or you're going to suffer during service xx

Yes I went to the doctors and had my blood pressure checked and it was normal. They sent me to the ER because they didn't have the equipment I needed and when they took my blood pressure they said it was high and that some people feel stressed in ER's to the point your blood pressure shoots up.
It might seem like it's bashing America. To the rest of the world America is well known for its excess, it's used more of as an example rather than bashing. If Australia were to be used as an example it wouldn't have the same impact, this is television after all. And like it or not, America does have a high shock value, which equates to more ratings. Plus, it's pretty interesting to watch how some people live.
Gary’s meals actually don’t look that bad compared to other oversized’s people’s. It’s just a lot of fat because of the cheese. Make it smaller portions and damn I would eat that
@Emily Lavën This is really insensitive advice to give to an anorexic person. An anorexic REALLY doesn't need to be thinking about what food they can and cannot eat. I'm vegan, but there's a reason very very few inpatient anorexia treatments allow even a vegetarian diet.
Poor Gary the saddest part about this whole show was when he had to go to the hospital in the States and now undoubtedly is saddled with that crippling American medical debt.
Unfortunately we have people who will just enable their issue, because most of these super fat people can't physically get to those insane sizes where they can't get around without help from another person. It's a mental illness on both sides, the care taker enjoys being relied upon and the person being cared for is stuck in a mental state of being cared for.
Everyone on the comments: * talking about how kind gary is and how delicious the food looks* Me: getting stressed out when they had to call and ambulance for Gary when he was in the US

Gary: "When I was young my mom made me a cheese and pickle sandwich and I was like woow...this is heaven"
I felt that
I love a good cheese and pickle sammie! ☺️
so relatable and adorable haha
Yeah, my mother loves cheese and would eat cheese blocks. I came to love cheese too.
Deffo an underrated snack! 👌🏿
Same, my dad did something similar with me, I love pizza but I can’t have pizza everyday.. or so I thought at the time, my dad made me some cheese on toast using tomato ketchup as the base and I was in heaven. I started adding herbs to it and toppings and I’ve been in love ever since.
However it’s been piling the weight on me so I’ve had to stop eating so much cheese 😭 I feel better for it but dang I miss my cheese on toast! but at least I’m loosing the weight now.
it is SO refreshing to see them talk about anorexia as well as obesity, honestly. anorexia is JUST AS dangerous as obesity, but no one wants to talk about that because people want to think that skinny = healthy. coming from someone who has been obese and is struggling with anorexia, they are equally as dangerous as each other and both end in death if the person is not willing to make changes and reach out for help. we need to talk about eating disorders more. seriously. and i’m so glad this show sheds a light on it.
Yeah it's good they talk about it, they're both dangerous but anorexia is *much* less common,. obesity and related diseases are the #1 killer
I agree too they both need to be addressed, and even further I think for kids coming up in the world it’d be wise to establish that healthy=healthy, not skinny and not big
They're both eating disorders. It's horrible and a lot of people suffer from them.
anorexia ≠ skinny btw. but i see your point
@@mjaomjaomjaomjao that isn’t what i was trying to imply, and i’m sorry if it came off that way /gen as i mentioned i struggle with anorexia but i am also by no means skinny. basically i was just trying to say that i appreciate it being talked about in a way that doesn’t glorify or stigmatize it
Can we take a moment and appreciate Debbie!! She helped him lose 13 stone (182 lbs)👀
For some reason when I first started watching this I thought 1 stone was 10 pounds, then I thought it was 12 and then I figured out it was 14.
Debbie is amazing! Usually morbidly obese people on this type of show are surrounded by enablers who are often very overweight themselves, so hearing what Debbie has done for her fiancé is SO refreshing!

To be fair. She totally did look to be six months along.

29:33 Can we all appreciate this moment Amy putting her head on Gary’s shoulders like AWW🥺🥺
Omg i just noticed that! THATS SO ADORABLE :")
Yes it's so adorable
Amy obviously enjoys food, as she’s giving Gary’s meals a good go. She just needs to remember she needs to eat well as well as her son.
I love this show bc it's not one sided. It talks about the dangers of both being underweight and overweight. The ackee and fish is actually pretty healthy. The bad part is the mac & cheese and fried plantains.
bioaccumulated heavy metals arent that great so that brings it down to just ackee lmao. jk great episode
Love plantains.

I’ve started making cheese and pickle sandwiches and they are delicious!

IKR I WANT ONE
Gary needs to be a national treasure. He's just so chill.
This pair is the most wholesome they’ve had on this show
I know right? I want them to be friends forever now. ^_^
nah, id say Michael and Sam were the most wholesome, these pair are still wholesome though.
Gary works 70 hours a week at his restaurant. Wow❗
That's dedication & self torture.
Yeah that amount of work alone would make me binge eat 😕
Sunflower Baby I honestly think he enjoys what he does so 10 hours a day probably doesn't drag for him. He looked happy cooking and he's his own boss.
I'm a training chef and that is very believable most chefs work around those hours, breaks can be hard to come by because if you don't finish your prep you have to stay and finish it or you're going to suffer during service xx
When you enjoy working I guess it never feels like working anymore
That's reason enough to have high blood pressure
Anyone notice how amy starts glowing after eating Gary’s food,
Yes, and also when she looks at Gary
ayo i ship them
I ship them too.she is literally not eating anything only on coffee.she needs to eat.
That look when he looks at her like …”you look pregnant!”
@@veryconfused9768 Uhh why tf do you ship real people
I love these two, they’re both upbeat and good people, respectful to each other… Gary doesn’t want his parents to lose him early, and Amy doesn’t want to cause her kid to end up like her. So many people don’t actually *want* help, and don’t see the problem with their actions, but these two genuinely know there’s a problem and want to fix it for both themselves and their loved ones
Gary's blood pressure spiked because of the stress of the situation and bc he's such an empath too
most definitely.. he was overwhelmed
Yes I went to the doctors and had my blood pressure checked and it was normal. They sent me to the ER because they didn't have the equipment I needed and when they took my blood pressure they said it was high and that some people feel stressed in ER's to the point your blood pressure shoots up.
They really do be bashing America in every single episode though. 😂😂

Make it smaller portions and damn I would eat that
Same here, the skinny was all about it too.
@Emily Lavën This is really insensitive advice to give to an anorexic person. An anorexic REALLY doesn't need to be thinking about what food they can and cannot eat. I'm vegan, but there's a reason very very few inpatient anorexia treatments allow even a vegetarian diet.
@@tehrinny7031 I was just about to comment the same. Fat is healthy.
Garry is amazing as a human tbh, no sugarcoating, he’s got a good heart and his weight is a struggle but he’s a hard worker
Poor Gary the saddest part about this whole show was when he had to go to the hospital in the States and now undoubtedly is saddled with that crippling American medical debt.
You don’t have to pay if you’re visiting from the uk, luckily.

I like how they always go to America when they want to show horror stories about obesity to the participants of the show.
It is the land of horror stories. Cue '' American Horror Story ''
Unfortunately we have people who will just enable their issue, because most of these super fat people can't physically get to those insane sizes where they can't get around without help from another person.
It's a mental illness on both sides, the care taker enjoys being relied upon and the person being cared for is stuck in a mental state of being cared for.
American exceptionalism.
It makes sense can’t deny it

A lot of people who visit the US get travel insurance that will cover things like this. My guess is the show would have required it.
