What a great of a really great car, reviewed really well by somebody who really gets them. I have had my Grand Edition, which is black, since 2011 and have done over 100,000 miles in it and it still feels great. I love it and it has been serviced by Mercedes and the same mechanic sine I got it. Not sure I could ever let it go because as you say it looks stunning and is still a head turner. Great review.
I own a cls 350 grand edition in black colour. With a remap the hp goes just over 300 and the torque even more! I love it! The interior quality is a lot better than some new ones!

Enjoyed the one I owned from 2015-2019. I had memory seats and sunroof which were welcome additions. You didn’t mention that the Grand Edition also were equipped from the factory with a BRABUS tuning box under the bonnet.

The color is very similar to designo matte gray, but in gloss. And it looks different from the other greys offered at the time.
Hey, sorry for the late reply first of all. Generally the car has been great however the air suspension failed and costed around £1500 to repair. Other than that, just general servicing and the car has been great!
Great review Bobby, I have a W219 CLS350 CGI myself, had it for 10 years, just reached 55k on the clock. Mine is Flint Grey with the silver 19" AMG Type III alloys, but I always preferred the Palladium Silver of the Grand Edition. Are you sure that the Grand Edition was available in petrol in the UK, I thought it was only ever available as a diesel?? I did read that there was a Grand Edition based on the CLS280, but I don't think the CLS280 ever came to the UK? Either way the first generation W219 is still be best looking in my opinion, but then again I am biased.

Hey, thanks for the comment and the compliment! Nothing compares in terms of ride quality of an CL or S class, they are the best, super comfortable. GLE is good too, but 4x4, so not the best comparison. The CLS rides lovely, but you will feel potholes as it’s not as refined as like say the S class. But overall all of them are super comfortable. In terms of reliability, it’s had a few things done. Driver window motor got replaced, the pump for the air suspension replaced. And then the usual stuff like servicing and tyres etc. other than that, the car is solid! Appreciate you watching 🙌🏼

I have 2005 cls500 with sunroof, automatic rear window curtain, 2 oval pipes (not amg), more option and controls for AC - the button “REST” that uses engine heat to keep the car warm 30min after engine has been switched off. And mine is not Grand Edition. The only thing is that his is 2010 that might keep the price up. Apart from that it has less extras than mine pre-facelift standard 5L V8.

Yeah these definitely need the AMG kit on them the standard ones look soft and ultimately dated now ULEZ has sadly killed the diesels off for these in London
9:52 no, you can not. Just a phone for phone calls. Bluetooth music wasn't available even on NTG 4.0 W218 systems. And there is no CD changer in booth, the headunit itself takes in 5 or 6 cds. And altough I agree on the beauty of W219, next generation W218 is a much much better car. I had 2010 Grand Edition same as this and replaced it with W218 250 BlueEficiency and I am a lot happier. Start to like W218 muscular body design better too. Tech is better. Engines are more economical too, but most of all - quality is way better.

Deffo best looking CLS. Got the 320 CDI remapped to stage 1 which has around 270bhp, plenty of torque for me as well...
Great review! Although the W219 CLS63 used the M156 6.2 V8 which wasnt a biturbo v8, it was naturally aspirated.
Ahh! Thanks for correcting me. I assumed they were the newer bi turbo engines! I’m sure the cls55 AMG was bi turbo however?

They were both supercharged the 55 and the 63 but the newer ones were biturbo

The CLS 63 was not bi-turbo for that model it was same engine in C63 e63 before the emissions came in

Top spec but no sunroof?
Good point John, sunroof is lovely but they are quite hard to find nowadays. However this is quite a loaded spec other than the sunroof.

What's the law in London? In Birmingham city centre the car has to be euro 6 for diesels otherwise it's £8 a day
