Bulletproof was my favourite song on Nintendo Wii karaoke when I was a kid. They displayed the music video as well and Ellie was the first androgynous female I ever saw, I remember being very impressed.
Whenever I hear bulletproof I want to cry. That song takes me back to when I was 14, living at home with my parents, playing IMVU and waiting for my mom to finish cooking. Now I’m 24, lost my mom, trying to become a adult. Wow.
I didn't realize that the Original High was from 2015... Adam Lambert just released another album last March, I believe. Haven't listened to it yet, though.
As a massive La Roux fan, I feel like I should mention a couple of things that are missing. Elly lost her voice due to panic attacks and stress in between the first and second albums, which was part of the reason it took her so long to release the second despite the writing starting pretty early on and it being sung in her chest voice mostly. After that amazing album, she made an entirely new one with lots of collaborators before scrapping the whole project because it "was repeating the old mistakes" she made, like letting others take control over her ideas. Therefore, she decided to make Supervision, completing it in just four months as she "can now see everything clearly" but also doesn't need anyone else to tell her what her music should be. :)
i love bulletproof and let me down gently soooooooooooooooo much you cant believe and its more than that... idk what is it but this woman has a very special place in my heart
@Sminem I loved tiger lily. I can’t find a lot of her stuff on TH-cam but she had the very raw versions up once upon a time. They are in the gold album though. Tiger lily had a version without the creepy voice in it and it was a more true sound to her voice. I couldn’t agree more. Tiger lily is in my top 3 from la roux
I was 16 and working at forever 21 the time bulletproof and in for the kill was released her style literally influenced everything i wore in 09 i never kept my paycheck 😂
Omg sameee I was obsessed with her style I wanted to own everything she had. The colorful jackets and printed leggings, the cameo necklaces, ugh I remember that so vividly
Her second album "Trouble in Paradise" is one of my all time favorite albums. I love listening to her song "Paradise is you" while driving along the ocean.
Still listening to La Roux today! She got bops after bops, some softer songs, sad song, feel good jams. She’s lovely! Colourless Color, As If By Magic, Tropical Chancer, Sexotheque, Otherside, Gullible Fool, He Rides. 💞
I'm listening to her music lately, thank you Honest for covering up this topic. Kindly listen to her albums, Trouble in Paradise & Supervision, please! She's still making good music.
you should do a video on Lily Allen. just like La Roux, she is one of the most influential musicians of the British scene in the 00s. does anyone feel me?
A thousand times yes. I loved her so much in 08/09 and had "Fuck You" on my myspace playlist. I dont know why she's so slept on these days but her biggest hits are all mostly from that time
Nothing. Nothing happened to La Roux, she exists and is always relevant to meee I literally got her recent album pre-ordered and the signed version ÙwÚ
i wish you mentioned i'm not your toy, that was one of my favorite songs from that time period and i remember it being pretty successful too! cool video
La Roux has been one of my fave singers since 2009 yasss! I finally saw her in concert this February and she was AMAZING, it had been a dream of mine to see her live
I love La Roux's music to this day. Their second album was just as good as the first. Elly's third album Supervision, I thought, was a solid album. I didn't like it as much as the first 2, but it had some great songs. And the fact that she wrote, produced, sang, and played all the instruments for it is very admirable.
I didn’t really know them like that, honestly I didn’t even know that they were a duo, I only knew the girl. But I loved bulletproof! It’s a great song. Hey honest, can you do a video on BLACKPINK please? I recently go into them and I would like your opinion on the group
La Roux was (a still is) my favorite female artist growing up. She really paved the way for me to get into pop and listen to music outside my comfort zone. I was obsessed with her and I think she is making wonderful music now like she did back then. That woman is very dear to my heart 🤍
Omg thank u for this video! I’ve been a huge La Roux fan since 2012 and to this day I still support all of her projects. Supervision (her latest 2020 album) is a BOP.
Bulletproof is still so chilling to me when I hear it it's literally goosebumps. Absolutely loved her 80s sharp look with fiery hair. I wish the best for both of them in the future with whatever they venture into.
Her second album Trouble in Paradise is one of the last physical CDs I ever bought and I learned of its existence by reading a review of it in a physical newspaper. I still play it in my car CD player and love it.
*BRUH!* i deadass randomly thought of their song "bulletproof" the other day & this pops up on my feed omg lol that song was played 24/7. after all these years it's still lit AF & makes you happy #CLASSIC! #goodtimes
I was subscribed to you on my old account and I’m so glad I remembered to sub again when I created my new one! I’m the one who commented on the monotone ‘certified bop’ and got a heart :)
The song bullet proof began playing in my head, so I searched the lyrics and wound up here, I didn't even know the song was viral on tiktok a few years back because I wasn't on it! This song was played almost everywhere I went as a kid!
The title of this video triggered me back to 8th grade when my friend and I sang “Bulletproof” for the talent show. I am very uneasy But “I’m not your toy” was a BOP
I am a massive La Roux fan, but i never cared that much for Bulletproof, im glad it put her on the map, her talent deserves it, but i almost never listen to that, its kinda like a kids song so i can understand her not liking it any longer, she grew up.
I love how this just so happened to appear on my reccommended. I just bought her second album vinyl its been my favorite since it released. Im happy she is getting noticed by new listeners on Tik Tok. It gets word out about her music but all trends die out on there so she wont skyrocket into popularity again. Its nice and she likes the memes as she posts them on her facebook.
La Roux first album was actually memorable, it makes sense that artists think and perceive their work different from their fanbase. You simply grow out of the old stuff you created in the past and redefining yourself is insanely hard because people have a image of you based on the past music.
La Roux, Ladyhawke, Little Boots - the 3 of them in 2010s were ingenius and underrated, perfect for making the top hits radio listenable at last, but they didn't make it. Tigerlily and Colorless Colour (and open my eyes maybe too) were clearly the best songs, glad to hear it was her favs.
I discovered “in for the kill” on the Bayonetta gamer commercial. And as a lover of Goth music and punk rock, new wave being a close cousin of the genres, makes total sense why I like la roux. Synth pop us also a relative genre.
Omg i was literally thinking about la roux and what happened to her like last week! I was walking to work and ‘in for the kill’ popped into my head outta nowhere and made me wonder where she went so THANKS for this vid! 😁
She's a real artist. The rare kind that really know what they're talking about because they really know what they're doing. And she's REALLY good at it.
i have a vivid memory of watching the bulletproof music video on mtv in the morning before school and i remember being absolutely mesmerized by elly because i had never seen an androgynous person before in my life (i was 8 at the time). i asked my older cousin if it was a boy or a girl and he said she was a lesbian. that was also my first time hearing the word lesbian. cut to now and i'm a lesbian, so shout out to elly for being my gay awakening lol.
I listen to all of her music to this day because that's what she'd want. For people to just listen and enjoy it all. She doesn't need to be in the spotlight; and that's OK for any artist.
I used to have the skrillex remix of la roux's song 'in for the kill' on repeat 24/7 when i was like 12 years old
Oh hey Angelo ☺
oh hi there cant wait for the new video this weekend!
Bulletproof was my favourite song on Nintendo Wii karaoke when I was a kid. They displayed the music video as well and Ellie was the first androgynous female I ever saw, I remember being very impressed.
Great taste in music my guy
Imagine seeing you here😯
Bulletproof was HOT before tiktok was even a thing
Yep and it didn’t need TikTok to be revived and listened to either, I still go back to this song with enthusiasm.
This, it was a hit years ago. And it doesn't need Tik Tok now either.
Yep
EXACTLY
No shit Sherlock it came out almost 10 years before tiktok
Bulletproof is a bop
Period
Is it weird that I think In For The Kill is a better song than Bulletproof? Maybe it's the 80s vibe that gets to me 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
Yes!
Yep
Whenever I hear bulletproof I want to cry. That song takes me back to when I was 14, living at home with my parents, playing IMVU and waiting for my mom to finish cooking. Now I’m 24, lost my mom, trying to become a adult. Wow.
omg i feel you exactly, i remember it on the radio when i would play imvu!!!
I’m so sorry for your Mom :/ may she SIP
Wow 😢
kay mills Thank you! ❤️
Daryns _world ❤️
she said “ bulletproof “ and dipped
She literally released her third album in December, she’s still around ☹️
Hella songs with Tyler the Creator too
Omg I always wondered what happened to La Roux. But allot of Artist hates their biggest hits.
I remember her being all over the radio in the UK, not sure if she was as big in America, In for the kill is my fav
Her song Bulletproof got big here in the states
@Bring Back KP, Animated Obviously /CrisisOnFire1977 we have a top 40 not a top 100 in a certain genre
Bullet proof was HUGE here in the US!! I think it came out my senior year in high school. Gooooooodd times!
She was big here in America, she was all over the radio and music channels in Mexico
@@Princemercury90 I was a freshman in high school when the song came out. Good times ❤
Girlllll what happen too Flo rida, Keisha Cole, Macklemore, LMFAO, Far East movement...ADAM LAMBERT.
I think he did a video on LMFAO but I wanna know about the rest too
I didn't realize that the Original High was from 2015... Adam Lambert just released another album last March, I believe. Haven't listened to it yet, though.
Adam is with queen
adam recently released VELVET, great album and so underrated, really worth listening
Add hot chelle rae to that list too lmao

@@cawfee-pv9ib Sounds like she might be touring NEW music then as well 🤞
Ben Langmaid was her chief song-writer. When he left, she fizzled out. It's too bad they didn't stick together.
I'm proud of her standing up for herself. La Roux may not be as popular now, but sounds like she's where she wants to be.
i love bulletproof and let me down gently soooooooooooooooo much you cant believe
and its more than that... idk what is it but this woman has a very special place in my heart
"This time, Baby
I'll Be Bulletproof"

Me when my ex-best friend sabotaged my career and I had to pick a new route.

Ehh I don't really see it
I was just going to say he looks like pitbull 😂😂😂😂💀💀💀💀💀

I didn't realise La Roux was a group, I thought it was just one chick!
I used to think she was a gay boy
Same
OFF GUN really I thought a gay girl lol but who are we to assume

Now she is solo.
Her music was so timeless. She was literally ahead of our time.
She’s still around 😂

its so underrated 😭
SAME omg
That album is so mature and thought
Their first album was so good. Im Not Your Toy was my favorite song.
Her 2nd album "Trouble in paradise" is amazing. Sexotheque is that song.
I love that song such a catchy beat.
I love Uptight Downtown
And Cruel Sexuality 👌🏼
That album is phenomenal…every track is crazy good

Oh my god that was in 2009...I would've said ohh yeah La Roux haven't seen them in 3-4 years 😂🤣
Seriously I think the 2010s were just like 3 years because it all just blurs in to one big thing
