Excellent video on a seldom discussed park. When I hear “charming,” Arnolds Park is one of the first parks that comes to mind. Legend is smoother than a lot of steel coasters. Definitely a must-visit if you’re passing through on I-90 (helps break up the monotony of driving through that part of the country too).

I agree 100%. I was pleasantly surprised how smooth Legend was.

I like the atmosphere at independent parks VS chain parks. Things are generally more inviting, staff friendlier & less expensive. (Like Waldameer in PA). Maybe one day I'll get to Arnold's Park.

Each has their pros and cons. I like both.

The second drop is excellent in the back car.

I was taken here when I was really little, and I loved the tipsy house but never got to enjoy the roller coaster and there was only the legend back during that time. It's a memory I wish to recreate the house of mirrors though I didn't get as far as the entrance before getting lost lol

Definitely worth going back for the coaster.

Great review. I grew up about 15 miles from Arnold's Park so I have a lot of great memories of this place. It has been about 35 years since I've been there and it seems to have more rides now than what I remember. BTW my grandfather actually took my grandma here on their first date, so that should give you an idea of how much of a local landmark this place is.

Glad the park has been a community staple all these years!

Yes, frozen in time is a good way to describe this park - in a good way. Legend does have airtime, but only in the back row and only on one drop. Still, it’s an old-timey classic (although the bored teenager running the coaster was nothing like the employees you describe). If you want a local tradition, try a “nutty bar” ice cream at the corner store of that name. I’d also suggest a short boat cruise of the lake, which leaves from the pier right in front of the park.

I visited on a day when it was over 100 degrees, so Legend was probably running in optimal conditions. The employees who rode even remarked it was running fast. The third drop also had a tiny pop of air and the final two hills had some strong floater airtime in these conditions.

Canobie Coaster Yes, it does sound like you got a better ride than I did in my one visit. Still, I’m a sucker for truly vintage woodies, so I loved the experience.

It used to give wicked ejector but after the airtime killers of GCI got their hands on this it is more mild now, and it really isn’t the same classic it used to be now.

I went to Arnold's Park way back in 2003 or 2004 I think. I liked it there but I don't know what the chances of me going back there again are. I'd like to give The Legend another ride and try out that new Wild Mouse coaster and remember to grab a park map for sure but why would I go out there in the first place? I have that same problem with Knoebels in Pennsylvania. I'd want to go to that park as well but it's nowhere near either Pittsburg or Phildelphia. I guess I'll just have to wait and see what the future holds for me.

I looked for a park map on my most recent trip, but I couldn't find one. The Wild Mouse is a perfect fit for the park.

Planning a trip to Okoboji next year and Arnold's Park is on my to do list. Spent many years at Miracle Strip Amusement Park in Panama City Beach, FL in the 90s as a guest and employee. This one gives off the same vibes to me. Looking forward to checking it out!

It's a cool park to visit. Feels retro.

As someone who lived in the area I’ll warn you that the coaster gets really rough near the end of the season so try to get there sooner rather than later. After you go to the park make sure you go to the Nutty Bar. It’s a really cool vintage ice cream parlor.
