- Blackberry Crescent Dumplings
2 - 2 1/2 cups blackberries (or a mixture of berries) washed
2 cans of crescent rolls
1 1/2 stick melted butter
Extra butter for buttering pan (or use non-stick cooking spray)
1 1/4 cups sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
10 ounces citrus soda
Ground cinnamon
Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream if desired
Butter a 9 x 13 inch baking pan.
Separate crescent rolls into triangles. Open one can at a time to keep them cooler, they roll better when they are cooler.
Starting at the big end add 2-3 Tbsp of berries. I used my hands and covered about 3/4 of an inch of the rolls.
Roll towards the small point. You will need to pinch them together to keep the berries inside.
Put each roll in the prepared pan.
Add sugar to melted butter. Add vanilla to mixture. Stir lightly.
Pour this mixture over the top of the crescent rolls.
Pour citrus soda around the edges of the crescent rolls.
Sprinkle lightly with ground cinnamon.
Bake at 350* for 30-40 minutes, depending on your oven... (Some bake better than others. Check at 30 minutes and every 2-3 minutes afterwards.
After removing from oven it is better to let sit for at least 5 minutes before serving.
These are great served with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
